MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson has won the Republican nomination for a U.S. Senate seat the party is trying to capture for the first time in more than five decades.
The ex-governor and Health and Human Services secretary under President George W. Bush defeated three GOP rivals during Tuesday’s primary.
It marked Thompson’s first time on the ballot since 1998. He advances to face Democrat Tammy Baldwin in the Nov. 6 election.
The seat became open following the retirement of Democrat Herb Kohl.
The win follows a blistering primary in which hedge fund investor Eric Hovde invested nearly $5 million of his own money into the race. U.S. Rep. Mark Neumann and state Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald also sought the GOP nomination.

If you want to explode the cheddar bomb on old Russ and Tammy, go donate to Tommy Thompson to help fight the good fight and show Tammy the door.

Posted on August 15, 2012 at 3:10pmMy insurance premiums went up 40% in 2012. I got a letter citing the new health care law as the reason for the changes in our plan. Our premiums have stayed the same for most of my adult life, and only changed if we added family members or increased coverage.

Posted on August 15, 2012 at 8:18amThis is a big win. We have to take every seat we can. Once we have power those who lean left will find themselves in a real tough position to fix this mess. They will stand out like a farmer in his field.

Posted on August 15, 2012 at 8:28amMy old Governor – good guy.
I’m wondering, though, does Tommy have any RINO in him? It‘s been so long that I can’t remember exactly his entire repertoire. I know he reformed welfare and cut property taxes, but the pensions and benefits of Wisconsin government sector workers is pretty hefty, and some of those increases must have come under his watch.

Posted on August 15, 2012 at 6:27amDon’t get too excited.
My real concern is two-fold. The Illegals and electronic vote fraud. Watch the youtube video here of sworn Congressional testimony by a computer programmer who was able to program the Diebold voting machines to give any outcome count desired. When it’s programmed and It comes out 51-49 and everyone says “Oh, we were so close” believing the results. Electronic voting is a very serious problem.

The latest WHISTLEBLOWER magazine from WND has an entire issue on voter fraud from the left. It reveals all the methods used by the left to corrupt the sytem. Strategies such as calling you racist, using the term voter suppression, etc;. This is a GREAT magazine and very educational. You can get a free 3 month subscription at their website.

Posted on August 15, 2012 at 7:22amMore likely; is that the vote IS accurate…. now that all the non-Wisconsinites are gone. Outsiders not around to intimidate, inflame, and forge petition signatures. All that was left were real Wisconsinites speakng through the ballot box.

Posted on August 15, 2012 at 8:23amThen maybe some entrepreneur should come up with some software to check thre integrity of the voting machine software. It should check the voting machine against how the code SHOULD be running to how it’s actually running on the machine.

Posted on August 15, 2012 at 5:38amIt was a primary, not an election for the seat. So why all the excitement? It doesn’t say he was running against an establishment Republican. In fact he worked for Bush so is he establishment? I don’t know so I am just asking if anyone else knows.

Posted on August 15, 2012 at 3:18am@ Almighty Creestof,
Its a clear example of what you tea-o-con phonies SHOULD have done in the primaries, when R-money couldn’t get above 25% in the polls. That is to say, you should have united behind the only real agent of change in the race- one Ron Paul. Instead, you all divided your support among the pretenders, each one trying to run from their own unique big government progressive record.
Not to worry, though. We are the future of the Republican Party. What you’re seeing today is Goldwater/Rockefeller ‘64 all over again, this will not end well for you.

Haven’t you learned by now that thou shalt not speak ill of Ron Paul, lest you suffer the wrath of his worshippers? And then they will proceed to explain to you how you aren‘t really a conservative and if it wasn’t for GOP trickery, Ron Paul would be the nominee. On, I forgot the obligatory “sheeple” name calling. LOL

As for the rest of you, I clicked on this story to find out why a washed up has been like Thompson was able to beat out desperately needed new blood that Hovde or Neumann could have provided. The Romulan in front of me went off track.
