‘Too Hot for the HuffPo’: Read the Gaza Flotilla Blog Post They Wouldn’t Publish

David Harris is Executive Director of the American Jewish Committee. The New York Times has called the AJC “the dean of American Jewish organizations.” So it’s not that radical an outfit. But the position taken by David Harris on the Gaza flotilla seems to be a little too radical to be included on The Huffington Post.
Harris has been a blogging on the site for a good while. He’s posted nearly 50 times in the last two years.
But he is now telling Powerline that his latest effort was rejected:
I was told by HuffPo that an article submitted was “not for us.” It’s below. I ask you to read it and decide for yourself. Apropos, the same article was published on my Jerusalem Post blog earlier this week.
So, is the post by Harris all that objectionable? Let’s see:
We’re on the verge of another “flotilla” to Gaza. Estimates of the number of ships and participants vary from day to day, tending downward, but the erstwhile organizers insist that the maritime operation will take place.
Their spokesmen have been hyperactive in drawing attention to the event. After all, without coverage, they’d be denied their oxygen. And the kind of coverage they seek – idealistic humanists and peace activists determined to aid the poor, beleaguered residents of Gaza versus stone-hearted oppressors in military uniforms determined to block them at all costs – would, needless to say, portray Israel in the worst possible light.
The International Solidarity Movement, Free Gaza Movement, U.S. Boat to Gaza, and kindred spirits want the world to believe there is a strip of land called Gaza that, left to its own devices, would create the Shangri-La of the Middle East.

If this flotilla were truly a work of salvation for a destitute people, I would be the 1st to stand with them but unfortunately it’s not. It’s a ruse to infuriate even more destruction of a people that want nothing more than to make the world better.
I spend endless hours trying to figure out why the open hatred towards these people.
Thanks to the Jews, I do not fear TB. I am healthier than I have ever been because of the dynamic medical breakthroughs Jews have brought forth to the world. I am even typing on a computer that is supported by a super chip designed in Israel. I listen to music, hard rock, soft rock, classic etc. that once was an idea in someone’s Jewish head. I was given wonderful books with great ideas written by some of the most profound thinkers in anyone time. I have less neurosis because of a Jewish thinker. I can rarely find anything that I see or do daily that has not been profoundly influenced by these folks.

This was obviously done to refocus attention on the flotilla. Even before that Israel was letting humanitarian supplies through, just trying to stop the rockets etc. This flotilla is not needed to suppy the poor people, it’s a publicity stunt to poke and then push Israel in to taking action and then recieving U.N./world condemnation for it.

I noticed they’d constantly delete/ban any non-lib comments all the time – they only let ones get by occasionally that are “mild” and not “harmful” to their agenda so they can say they let other viewpoints on there. This is the primary weakness of the socialist democrat left, as I see it.
They commit to an ideology, based on emotion, as pure logic precludes pretty much all leftist notions.
Once they commit to these agendas, their hubris prohibits any concession, even in the light of reason and logic.
Because logic and truth are their enemies, the contradictions between their ideologies eventually cause conflict between the socialist democrat leftist groups. Were they the ONLY ideology of the left, they may be able to survive. However, because obama and the socialis democrat people have divided us into such a vast number of ‘voting blocks’, based on emotional ideologies, those who subscribe to those leftist ideals are wholly committed to them, and incapable of acceding to one another when conflicting ideologies inevitably surface, because their blind commitment to their agenda precludes logic. In order to preclude logic, they must WHOLLY commit to their ideals, else logic would crush their arguments. This blind allegiance also precludes their ability to resolve their differences with conflicting / overlapping ideologies.
As such, when conflict occurs, they must silence one another.
This will be their undoing.

I‘m not sure you are qualified to make any assessments regarding someone’s lack of intellectual capacity seeing that you have quite a deficit running yourself. What exactly is the truth about Israel that would see them kill someone in the media? And what is this plight you speak of for the ‘Palestinians’? You do realize that there never has been a Palestine? It is a region. The so called Palestinians have been wandering around there for centuries existing under the rule of one kingdom or empire or another. So these people who never had the wherewithal to rise up and form a nation now deserve to have one handed over to them? It’s no wonder why the left sympathize with them they have the same victim/entitlement mindset.
Do you also know that Jordan and Syria have more ‘Palestinian’ land than Israel? Why don’t they cry and whine to them about giving up that land? I also find it disgusting that a gang of would conquerors tried to wipe Israel off the map and subsequently got their asses handed to them and now demand that ‘their land’ be returned to them. On that fact alone I have no sympathy for those people. In truth, given the economic catastrophe which immediately preceded the election and a nation thoroughly weary of the Bush administration’s waffling, a cheese danish with a tie and a decent speech-writer would have won that election over any candidate with an R next to her / his name. When the Reps allowed the MSM’s favorite “Republican” to win the nomination, the election was over before the campaign even began.
Despite every advantage any liberal candidate could ever hope for – a miserable economy under a Rep lame duck, a horribly flawed Rep candidate, and the lock-step fawning adoration of the MSM – The One managed to win only 28 states and 53% of the popular vote. With any luck at all, The One will have only one of those advantages in 2012, and even the MSM won’t be able to completely ignore the facts this time around.
Though the MSM will doubtless remain firmly in His corner in the next election, they cannot hide His actual record – now that he actually has a record of some sort for the voters to consider.
My guess for 2012 – ANY Rep candidate who doesn’t shoot him or herself in the foot will win at least 30 states and 55% of the popular vote. A GOOD candidate might even pull off a Reaganesque landslide.
