At the All Things Digital D9 Conference Tobii unveiled an incredible new technology that will allow users to operate certain functions of their computer hands free. More hands for texting! Yay!!!
“The world’s first eye-controlled laptop,” seems really more to move the mouse with eyes, but still select with hands. My question is what happens when you sneeze?

Posted on July 1, 2011 at 6:53pmIf your able bodied and are THAT LAZY to scroll down with a mouse then you should be court ordered to get an enema tube stuffed up your colon because it would be assumed that your too lazy to go to the bathroom.

Posted on June 28, 2011 at 2:10pm20+ years ago, I designed a device to do this and much more, it tracked movement of a paraplegic person’s eyes to move the mouse cursor, they could look at a keyboard below the monitor and type. They used a bite stick or blow straw to either click the mouse, or enter keystrokes depending on the extent of their disability. The blow straws worked best because you could blow to click and suck to remove a mistype which happened quite regularly until you got used to the system.

Posted on June 28, 2011 at 9:01pmAre you SURE it wasn’t Algore?
You shoulda patented it and developed it and protected your patents and paid lots of attorneys fees and…
Patents are kind of an “insiders only club”.
Report Post »Those with political influence (money) have placed so many obstacles in the way of patents it is all but impossible for an individual to patent or trademark anything.
Just like when the states began allowing online drivers-ed courses, the lawmakers friends and families created the first websites, then, suddenly, they decided they needed to LIMIT the number of them. Not sure what would happen if we had too many competitors – lower prices?
It’s all about placing barriers-to-entry in the way of would-be competitors.
Otherwise, you would have rampant capitalism!! And we all know that’s just EEEEVVViiiiLLL.

Posted on June 29, 2011 at 1:32amAs a quadriplegic (15yrs now) I graduated from Purdue in 2003 (with a 3.8 GPA) where this would’ve come in very useful. Computer Graphics including 3D model design and virtual prototyping are my new tools, due to my physical limitations. Thanks to our Creator, I never had the usual “pity party” & thanks to our Lord, in fact my blessings kept flowing. What are the odds one would get a neural-surgeon rated as one of the nations top ten, in a city with less than 70,000 people? I was surprised that the SD American Legion state commander expedited my entrance into the VA healthcare system, almost a miracle back in 96 (& I knew nothing about it until a VA rep informed me shortly after my surgery that Flight For Life would be transporting to a VA SC UNIT of my choice). In fact my blessings kept flowing. I have several virtual prototypes.waiting for investors.

Posted on June 28, 2011 at 3:49pm“My question is what happens when you sneeze?” Not only that but how will it work if you are cross-eyed or you have a nervous tic that causes your eyes to jump about all of the time. AHA, I got it, they need to be charged with discrimination because I bet that not everyone would be able to use that technology. LOL
