Too Quiet? NFL Player Says Fans Aren‘t Cheering in Football Stadiums Because They’re Playing With Their iPads

Too Quiet? NFL Player Says Fans Arent Cheering in Football Stadiums Because Theyre Playing With Their iPadsNew York Jets linebacker Bart Scott has a notorious big mouth which sometimes causes him to spew crazytalk. But is saying the MetLife Stadium (AKA the old New Meadowlands Stadium) is too quiet because people are always on their iPads crazy? Not exactly!

Here’s what the vocal leader of the Jets defense said in full:

“I think the last stadium was a lot louder and maybe some of the die-hard fans can’t afford tickets any more. We have to challenge the people that’s in the stadium now to get off their iPads and tweets and represent the stadium and get loud and make it a home-field advantage for us.”

I think he’s right…well aside from the iPad part, who brings their iPad to a football game? Please don’t do that. But I remember when I used to go to stadiums pre-Twitter and pre-iPhone, I did something I don’t do anymore: I just paid attention to the game. Now? My phones out, I’m checking fantasy scores, I‘m scanning Twitter to see what’s happening elsewhere, I’m refreshing scores of other games, I’m multitasking because you know what? Watching a football game live means there’s A LOT of dead time. I don’t like dead time.

So fine, I’m guilty of not paying as close attention to the games these days. Does that make me less of a fan? Maybe but what do you want me to do? Check my iPhone at the gate? I rather just watch the game at home in beautiful HD then! [NY Daily News, Image Credit: upi.com]

Boring!!!! The NFL is socialism at its best. All the teams are the same. They make the same amount of money they have the same talent of players and the same coaches go from team to team. One year he’s the head coach of this team and the next year you see him on another team coaching the offence or defense. So everybody knows each other style and know how to play against each other. And the players today have no heart. It’s all about the money and you can feel that when you watch them play. Boring!!!!

You know something, Mr. NFL guy, you want to hear ‘cheering’? listen to yourself. The NFL is WAY over blown. If it wasn’t for the jobs it has created over the decades in broadcasting (for idiot retired players) and the union jobs of setting up and tearing down infrastructure for every game it would have died years ago.

The players are childish bores with aggression complexes, at least partially due to steroids abuse and endless hostility they have never been capable of controlling in themselves. They act out like tantrum throwing infantile pre-pubescents on the field and off. They are treated with kid gloves as though they have some redeeming social value. They are EXTREMELY over paid and generally display no fiscal control (surprise! no self control = no fiscal responsibility either).

Tax payers are EXPECTED to pay for giant elaborate monuments for them to “play” in. And if they don’t get what they want… good-bye! These are giant money making machines and they hold their local ‘neighbors’ hostage so they can earn a living?! Spare me, killer. I’m SICK to death of you and your like. “Pro” sports is nothing but a large collection of adult aged men who remain adolescents well into their 30s. A fraternity of annoying children.

It’s nearly impossible to believe these are graduates from university without considering that our universities are themselves the reason for such useless contribution to society. Get a real job.

it is socialism, but it is the perfect illistration as to why socialism doesnt work. there are no great teams everyone is average, its great for watching the games cuz there always competitive but there is no greatness in socialism only in a free trade capitalism.

In the old stadiums the stands were closer to the field. Most of them were made out of steel instead of concrete so all you had to do is stomp and the noise was over bearing. Now the stadiums are all concrete and you’re a long way from the field. But most of all the game has changed. The NFL stopped promoting the game for real football fans and started going after people who never watched football at all. That’s why we real fans stopped watching. So there you have it you spoiled brat take your money and stop you’re whining.

There is only one NFL team that plays in NY and that is the Buffalo Bills. Maybe these fans on their iPads or iPhones are trying to figure that one out!

The game is not like it used to be. I still love it but it is not the same. I miss the 70‘s and 80’s of football. Men playing a game for the love of it and for far less money. The stadiums were safer and more family oriented. Now its a party atmosphere where the game seems secondary. I just don’t go much anymore. Too expensive, over payed players and too too much alcohol for the family to really enjoy the game.

      RIght ON!

GONE is the time when we could take our family to every home game.
Hell, gone is the time when we could afford to take the family to a SINGLE game!

Rich companies buy up expensive seats, and the rest of us save and scrape to get a couple of tickets in the nosebleed section.

      Thank you, NO.
I’ll sit at home with my SIXTY-INCH 3-D SONY MEGA-GIGANTIC-WONDERFUL-FANTASTIC-MAGIC television, in my undies if I want, and a big bowl of hot popcorn, with the WHOLE FAMILY, and I’ll have a much better view of the game. I’ll save the cost, I won’t have to pay to park 4 miles away, and I won’t have to hike an hour into and out of the game. I’ll be able to take a leak without standing in line for 40 minutes in a filthy, “stanky”, restroom that hasn’t had a roll of toilet paper in it for over four years!

      NOPE !

I’ll keep my iPad at home with my family and my beau-tee-mus television.

Overpaid, underperforming idiots. People playing with their iPads? Maybe in this economy, which most NFL players are exempt from, don‘t understand we don’t have the 50 to 200 bucks to watch you idiots run around acting like a team, when in fact you are just a bunch of individuals wearing the same uniforms. I quit watching football, along with all sports in general, when they stopped becoming a sport and became nothing more than a business. The last couple of strikes rid my desire to watch sports. That, and a 2 hour football game takes over FOUR HOURS thanks to the endless commericals.

Funny. We don’t have a problem with too little fan noise here in Seattle. The 12th man does not need anyone to beg for noise. We will blow you out of the stadium. The only fans who think they are louder are the ones who have never been to a home game in Seattle. The NFL even had to do an investigation to see if our crowd noise was piped in. It is unbelievable!!

And because we Seahawk fans are such loud mouths (that is a compliment up here) we have the highest number of false starts by the visiting teams than any other stadium. They can’t hear their own count.

The Seahawks are one of the few (very few) teams in the NFL that were penalized because the fans were too loud, see the LA Times, March 22, 1989. The more they penalized the louder we got and still haven’t kept quiet. Because THE Seahawk fans were so rabid the NFL caved and now everyone can be as obnoxious as we are. We may not have a championship team but we do have a championship crowd.

      GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

So the Seahawks have to rely on crowd noise to win a game. The pathetic Viqueens pump amplified crown noise into that army tent they call a stadium, to try and get an advantage too. Why not simply have better football eam to win.

What is there to cheer about? The NFL has put so many rules in place to protect their players (i.e. Their Multi-Million Dollar Property) that the game is no longer an Iron-Man sport. Why do I want to watch a bunch of pansies run around a field chasing a ball. If I want to watch that I can turn on Soccer.

“Pro sports players are as bad or worse than hollywood liberal elite.” I don’t see many Hollywood elite visiting sick or dying children, or donating millions to charities, or any of the other charitable things many players do without looking for any recognition. I’m kind of surprised that some here that would call themselves conservatives, would begrudge someone the wages the market allows for their services. It sounds more like whiny Commie Democrats that attack someones paycheck due to envy.

No, It‘s because the real football fans can’t afford season tickets anymore. The people in the stands now go to the games just to get drunk and brag to friends that they can afford tickets. Corporations own many of the seats and hand tickets out to employees. It’s just not the same.

Back in the day when teams had loyalty to their coaches and players and fans lived for the game, it was loud and fun. When the opposing offence was on the field it was time to make some noise.

NO it is not PATHETIC is is normal for those that have led a privileged existence. They have been coddled since HS through College and then into the NFL or should it be NRL since this game they call football has nothing to do with what the name implies. This is a game more related to Rugby than to FutBol.

And what they deem a “Super Bowl” is nothing more than a Decorated Toilet Bowl lately with torn bras and other sexually deemed entertainment, throw in some Politically Correct Activism and now you have a Super Infomercial.

I have been to one game in my life and that is because tickets have always been just too expensive for me, I was given two tickets to a playoff game when I bought a used car from a local Seattle dealership so I took a friend and we lost our voices in the first five minutes of the game.

And with today’s prices I prefer to watch Fox Soccer and the “REAL Football”.
