(AP) Al-Qaida’s top bomb maker in Yemen did not die in a drone strike on a convoy, a top Yemeni official said Sunday, a report that dashed the hopes of U.S. officials who thought the attack might have killed a trio of top al-Qaida personnel.
The U.S. drone strike Friday killed U.S.-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki and an American propagandist, Samir Khan, who published a slick English-language web magazine that spouted al-Qaida’s anti-Western ideology.
U.S. intelligence officials had said it appeared that bomb maker Ibrahim al-Asiri was among the dead. However, on Sunday the Yemeni official released a list of two others whose bodies had been identified and noted that al-Asiri was not one of them. The Yemeni official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters.
The Saudi-born Al-Asiri, 29, was tied to the so-called underwear bomb that was used in an attempt to bring down a Detroit-bound jetliner on Christmas Day in 2009. A Nigerian man has been charged in that attack. Al-Asiri was also believed to have been behind an intercepted pair of explosives-laden printers that were mailed from Yemen to the U.S. in 2010.
There was no immediate official word from the U.S. regarding the identities of the bodies.
Al-Asiri has been described as a critical component of al-Qaida’s activities in Yemen and his death would be a significant blow to the organization.
Even before officials determined al-Asiri had not died in the strike, anti-terrorism experts noted that al-Qaida remained a powerful threat in Yemen. Months of political turmoil in the Mideast nation has helped the group grow stronger.

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 12:13pmI am getting sick and tired of this administration whacking these terrorists off one by one- when they can and could have been captured- he spent 2 years torchering and teasing the families of 9/11 about giving the terriorist at Gitmo FAIR TRIALS and in NYC- and here people give OBAMA credit for whacking off the same people he wanted to be treated fairly.
And then the Terrorist are going to target the American people, the same people Obama who will only defends those who agree with him- Obama doesn’t give a damn about the PEOPLE- what a bargining chip WE would have had, but Obama kills them and then disposes of them before anyone can see anything- like a serial killer. Obama is making the ultimate call, the American people did not vote to have them executed.
Why is he making decisions that the American people have no say in- expecially when he is putting OUR LIVES on the line by his actions-
And don’t say because we elected him- I didn’t vote for him!

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 8:40amThe Obama dhimmis have to appear like they are strong on fighting these terrorists when they’re letting these crazed Mohammedist killers cross our borders. And then they let them go.
What absolute dolts.
Oh, yeah. There’s an election coming up. And Obama is in campaign mode. Not that he’s ever been out of it. And appeasing and apologizing and bowing to Saudi Kings while they’re killing us is what he does best.

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 6:46amBin Laden, Anwar al-Awlaki , and al-Asiri are all probably living in the White House waiting to take over. I still think it would be ‘transparent’ for us to see the KILL list obama has. It was reported that there are 3 other Americans on the list.
Report Post »The Justice Department said American al-Awlaki was not entitled to the protections of a U.S. citizen, but rather a combatant targeting U.S. citizens……but Holder wants Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and other terrorists to be tried in U.S. courts with all ‘rights’ of U.S. citizens. This is BEYOND INSANITY !

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 6:05amExactly. Lets have Congress get off it behind and either DECLARE WAR ON AL QAEDA (and offshoots) – as our Constitution dictates and wipe them out by ALL MEANS – atomic bombs – whatever OR we get our soldiers and soldier contractors out of Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Use the money WASTED and SQUANDERED by Pakistan, Afghanistan to build a Jurassic style border fence along our Mexican and Canadian border and to buy those huge machines in every port to look inside incoming shipments for bombs, etc. that we don’t have the money for now. And if we put our ports in a foreign country control like Bush wanted to (It was a Middle East country) (contracted security out) , GIVE IT TO A USA owned/operated contractor right now.

‘Washington begins with citizens who are demonized Muslim clerics radicalized by Washington’s wars on Muslims. In this way, Washington establishes the PRECEDENT that war protestors give encouragement and, thus, aid, to terrorists. It establishes the PRECEDENT that those AMERICANS deemed a threat are NOT protected by law. This is the slippery slope on which we now find ourselves.’(caps mine)
