Top Dem Warns: GOP Poised to Take up Birther Argument

Obama, beware.
That’s the warning from the House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC). In an interview with TheGrio.com, Clyburn said that should Republicans retake the House this fall, Congress will be “gridlocked” and the White House will be busy responding to subpoenas from Republicans.
Clyburn is refering to Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), the ranking Republican on the House Oversight panel, and his statement that he will issue “subpoenas everywhere” should Republicans prevail. But Clyburn goes a step further and speculates on the content of those subpoenas:
The White House will be full-time responding to subpoenas about where the president may or may not have been born, whether his mother and father were ever married, and whether his wife’s family is from Georgetown or Sampit.
The question of Obama’s citizenship is usually referred to as the “birther” argument. The Hill reports that Issa‘s office calls Clyburn’s hypothesis “ridiculous.”
“The Democratic Caucus doesn’t take Jim Clyburn seriously — Americans shouldn’t take his ridiculous claims seriously either,” said Issa spokesman Kurt Bardella in an e-mail to the Washington-based paper.
A call to the Majority Whip’s office seeking comment about what Clyburn is basing his claim off of was not immediately returned.
In his interview, Clyburn insists that the birthers are a creation of Conservative media personalities who refuse to repudiate such ideas. He adds that if the Fairness Doctrine was still in place, requiring broadcasters to give both sides equal time on political programs, there wouldn’t be an issue.
“Twenty-five years ago, we didn’t have Rush Limbaugh spewing hate all day, every day, and others on the radio, and we didn’t have a TV station dedicated to misrepresenting the facts and people making $20 million to go out and say what they know not to be true,” Clyburn said in the interview. “This has created an atmosphere of toxicity.”

Both parents must be American born citizens, then the child (President) must be natural born to qualify. This stops allegience to other countries. Obama even bragged he was a dual citizen, a citizen of the world. He doesn’t even deny he isnt a natural born American.
Since he sealed his documents, many have questioned the fact that his Mother married an Indonesian and he was adopted. His passport and personal info has been sealed and millions spent to prevent disclosure
That’s okay, next election the Democrats will force Ahmadinejad’s son or Usama Bin Ladens son into the Presidency. Why not, we already have an ineligble President attacking our country from within while our Representatives and so called defenders of this country (Including the Media) has sat and looked on, IMO.

I still say what is he hiding in his college transcripts. That could be more telling than his BC. How come no one remembers him from college(Except in Ca.) Degrees can be bought from even Ivy League schools. Look at who his mentors were.

By his own admission, White House will be “busy responding to subpoenas” from Republicans leads one to believe there are more drastic issues to be dealt with. Submit the first subpoena regarding birth so that the White House can entertain the media with a distraction. Mean while, they’ll be accepting other subpoenas regarding issues that require this administratons full attention.

When I apply for a job I have to prove my citizenship so why didn’t my “so called” president have too? In fact, the Hawaiiaan Democratic party the supposed State of his birth in confirming his canidacy for president didn’t even say he met “constitutional requirements” to be our president. Thats interesting because they have said the canidates meet “constitutional guidelines” in evry other polital race throughout there parties history. A newspapers announcement of a “birth” is not a legal document, and comes from any number of different sources. At the same time the argument is a useless one because it cant be proved.
C’mon though, his own grandmother swears up and down she saw him born in Kenya, not to mention the alleged “birth site” has become a tourist attraction…
However, dont be shocked 10 years from now if Obama is cited as precedent for a non-US citizen to run for POTUS.

Posted on September 27, 2010 at 2:42pmSun Yat Sen has a Hawaiian Birth Certificate – yet it is clear he was born in China. The same loophole that allowed Sun Yat Sen to obtain his Hawaiian Birth Certificate were still in place when Obama got his.
Without seeing the original, vault copy of his BC we cannot KNOW he was born in Hawaii. The newspaper announcements also do not ‘prove’ a Hawaiian birth. The evidence available SUGGESTS a Hawaiian birth, but it does not PROVE it.
Place of birth and eligibility are separate issues. Born a dual citizen he is not a natural born citizen. Simple as that.

Responding to a Freedom of Information Act request, the State Department has released passport records of Stanley Ann Dunham, President Obama’s mother – but records for the years surrounding Obama’s 1961 birth are missing.
The State Department claims a 1980s General Services Administration directive resulted in the destruction of many passport applications and other “nonvital” passport records, including Dunham’s 1965 passport application and any other passports she may have applied for or held prior to 1965.
Destroyed, then, would also be any records shedding light on whether Dunham did or did not travel out of the country around the time of Barack Obama’s birth.

They act like the birth certificate is the ONLY issue, which they headline every day, day after day, week after week, month after month. Secondly, they are as anti Glenn Beck as it comes. They reluctantly give him credit AFTER everyone else does. Glenn rose to the top while Joseph Farah remains a mediocre if not boring guest host now and then, here and there. WND.com looks more like professional jealousy than it does objective journalism.
Finally, my last purge on WND.com. In order to read one of their stories it is necessary to navigate the cursor through a maze of popups. Otherwise, just scrolling down the page will result in a series of aggravating unrelated ads. For example, in today’s lead story, the word “report” is double-underlined and in green. Accidentally roll over the word and an ad for Apple Ipads pops up. The first sentence has six words that are popup advertisements. I’d rather get my news anywhere else, DrudgeReport.com, Blaze. Fox News. Even CNN doesn’t have land mines every few words.

Get him out of office and save america.

If the question was important enough for there to be debate and a vote in the Senate in 1964 on Goldwater’s eligibility, and imporant enough for there to be debate and a vote in the Senate in 2008 on McCain’s eligibility, it should have been important enough to debate and vote on Obama’s eligibility.
For 230 years, the definition of “Natural Born Citizen” in the context of Article II Section 1 of the Constitution was “a citizen, born in the nation, to parents (plural!) who were citizens”.

Bill Oreilly announced a few weeks back that he has the best research staff in the business and they proved obama was born in Hawaii. ..His proof you ask? Oreilly had the gall to say the newspaper announcement of the birth was his proof……

They’re not conspiracy theorists, they [and rightly so] only care about reality and what can be proven. They’re not going to sink to the level of liberals and perpetuate ideas that cant be proven via non-circumstantial evidence.
So I understand why some really dont give much thought into the notion that Obamy is an illegitimate president.

The issue goes to his years in Indonesia where one needs to be an Indo citizen in order to attend school. Once you renounced your American citizenship then when you return you become a naturalized citizen like Arnnie in California. You are not Constitutionally able to be President. He was once natural born but became naturalized. By the way his travels to Pakistan could not be done with a US passport??

If he was a u.s. citizen then why would he need to apply for visa. I’ve talked to someone in washington (staffer in the senate) and this is the only really good argument without an answer. He says to go to the original sources and writings. If he actually did this this regarding the Natural Born Citizen requirement, there could be no dispute about Obama’s ineligibility. With a non-citizen father there is no possibility of meeting the requirement. I also have first-hand knowledge of other issues that Beck has been VERY misleading about. I am becoming more skeptical of anything that he brings up.

He comes back to America but doesn’t go through immigration, (breaks the law), then uses the citizenship of indonesia to get funding to pay for his ivy league education on the taxpayers dole such as the foreign student aid program. (not breaking the law because he is a foreign citizen legally) Then he overstays a student visa claiming that he is a legal American citizen (breaking the law) Since he never went through the immigration process to become a naturalized citizen (which is required in a situation like this) he would be concidered to this day an ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT!!! So, therefore when represented his self to the courts and to the DNC as an American citizen under oath and penalty of law he has again perpatrated a fraud. He has spent all that money to hide the truth. That makes sense and is probably the truth. The birth citizenship is irrelevant at that point because it was relinquished when he bacame a citizen of indonesia.

Glenn has taken positions in the past and then upon further evidence or reflection has changed his mind. The birthers have a stigmatization about them that taints one as a kook. if Glenn were to really study the birther arguments I do believe he would at least doubt Obama’s word about his national origin.

But I also think the “birthers” are being used as a distraction, because Obama is apparently the only person that can release his real birth certificate. Why does he need a distraction? To ridicule the people so they ignore the irrefutable facts that Obama is ineligible.
As others have posted here, Obama’s father was never an American citizen, so Obama has dual citizenship. According to the Constitutional Congress of 1790, this makes someone ineligible to be president. Also, according to the British Nationality Act of 1948, Obama was born a British citizen, and is to this day a British citizen. His father had British citizenship because Kenya was under British rule at the time. Obama has said this was taken care of when Kenya was no longer under British rule, when Obama was about 20 years old. “Natural born citizen” doesn’t mean what you were when you were 20 years old!
Obama is not the first ineligible president we have had. Chester Arthur was the first. All during his presidency, “birthers” speculated that he was actually born in Canada. He, too, was a British citizen, since his father did not become a naturalized American citizen until Arthur was 14 years old. This distraction allowed Arthur to serve as vice president, and one term as president.
Some experts believe if Obama can be proven ineligible, everything he has done and signed as president would become null and void. The only way Obama could squirm out of this would be to produce his birth certificate showing his father is not Barack Obama Sr.
If Obama were to be impeached, that would validate his presidency, and everything he has done and signed would not be voided. He must be declared ineligible to be president!

You can tell immediately when somebody (like Beck, for instance) is being intentionally deceptive on the issue. They make false claims about what has been released, they confuse their terminology, and they make reference to an alleged ‘grand conspiracy from birth’ to make him President.

If the Republicans take over the Congrtess in the elections , I think the American people will demand , that these Chicago politic , controversies will be dealt with and the guilty parties removed . I think even Obamas possible manipulation of the election in 2008 , the Sestak deals , the Black Panther case, etc there are plenty of cases besides the birther cause ,whether it be true or not , that should be looked into. If we dont take control of Congress away from the Progressives , then these cases will never get investigated , no one else has the power.

…and is that the requirement to be eligible for POTUS as stated in Article II Section 1 of the Constitution? No, it is not.
Article II Section 1 states:
“No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”
It is not enough to merely be born in the US as a ‘citizen’. He must be a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN. What is a natural born citizen? We look to Vattel‘s ’Law of Nations’ for the answer (as the SCOTUS has done):
“The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens. As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights. The society is supposed to desire this, in consequence of what it owes to its own preservation; and it is presumed, as matter of course, that each citizen, on entering into society, reserves to his children the right of becoming members of it. The country of the fathers is therefore that of the children; and these become true citizens merely by their tacit consent. We shall soon see whether, on their coming to the years of discretion, they may renounce their right, and what they owe to the society in which they were born. I say, that, in order to be of the country, it is necessary that a person be born of a father who is a citizen; for, if he is born there of a foreigner, it will be only the place of his birth, and not his country.”
Since 0bama’s father was NEVER a U.S. Citizen 0bama CAN NOT be a Natural Born Citizen.

I had to send away for the long form. Something’s stinking for sure. The story that came out today about Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin not being able to mount any defense because the judge refuses to allow the birth certificate into evidence really bothers me too. Judge after judge keeps dismissing these cases and there have been plenty of them.

Your two newspaper evidence is very weak. Both newspapers automatically reported what was filed with the State. That in turn depended ONLY on the signature of ONE relative by HI law.
