Top DOJ Official Refuses Fast and Furious Subpoena

On Friday evening, Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich refused the congressional request for subpoenaed documents regarding Operation Fast and Furious– claiming that GOP lawmakers can’t be trusted with the information.

According to CNN, in a letter to Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) and Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA), Weich suggested that sensitive information was being leaked to the media by their staffs.

“While we do not know who provided these letters to reporters, we are deeply disturbed that the sensitive law-enforcement information contained in them has now entered the public realm…This public disclosure is impeding the department’s efforts to hold individuals accountable for their illegal acts,” he said.

DOJ Official Ronald Weich Refuses Fast and Furious Subpoena, Claims GOP Staff Leaks Sensitive Information

Ronald Weich and Eric Holder

Therefore, Weich is denying Issa‘s and Grassley’s subpoena because of the “sensitivity” of the ongoing operation.

Issa spokeswoman Becca Watkins responded Friday night, saying, “It is troubling that the attorney general continues to express the outlandish view that his compliance with lawful and binding subpoenas is merely optional.”

CNN reports:

The ongoing dispute over access to Justice documents stems from an aggressive investigation by Issa’s House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, with Grassley’s help, into the origins and impact of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms’ Operation Fast and Furious. That sting operation allowed agents to monitor illegally purchased long guns in Arizona gun shops. The weapons bought by straw purchasers were then smuggled into Mexico. Hundreds of weapons were then lost, and two of them turned up at the homicide site of a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

Attorney General Eric Holder has acknowledged the flawed tactic, and has vowed that guns will not be allowed ‘to walk’ from gun shops near the border with Mexico.

Do not pass “GO”, “Do not collect $200.00″, Go directly to jail.

The average American would immediately go to jail for refusing a subpoena. LE would come and pick up your butt in a heartbeat and throw you in jail until you complied. Why should Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich be any different? His boss should go with him. They are all corrupt and we know it.

This nation stinks like a mink farm on a hot summer day with all the corruption in Washington, D.C. and other places. Everyone of us knows that there is nothing but corruption from the top down. It’s on both side of the fence too.

Who inside the beltway has any courage to do something about it? Any honest folks left in D.C.?

You know, the day is coming when something is going to happen in this nation and a great many patriot-citizens are simply going to say “No.” What then?

      @Marine1

Prison…absolutely. The problem is the law only applies to the governed, not the government. Our Consitution is gone…in relation to the governement.

The time is nearly at hand where “live free or die” won’t be a cute slogan anymore. Things are going to be harsh for those of us who won’t comply.

We can expect a “contract worker” military = civilians to be the enforcers. With the guys all being brought home, without jobs, the highest bidder will be too much a temption. It even sounds alluring because it’s doing the “same type” of work. No oath to defend the Consitution for civilian work though…makes a tremendous difference.

You know as well as anybody that militaries & wars are tools for political means. The average Bubba is doing what is honorable without knowing it’s for the wrong side. We also know that the top brass are just politicians at heart. We also know that the Secretary of Defense is a civilian…who has no business in that position.

I fear our “video at nine” is almost ready for broadcast.

We need to send those Monsters a message that “This is America” and this will not be tolerated!!! We start by investigating each and every one of them… One by One then taking them down for the crimes in which they committed! This will tip the balance of power in the Senate giving the Conservatives the power to impeach! Prosecution will send a message to those people and their supporters! BLACKCROW, Watergate was nothing but a break in of the DNC offices in hopes of gaining information regarding the illegal activities of the Democrats. Certainly not trying to make it sound like an okay thing to do. It was certainly an illegal thing to do.A peripheral mission was to recover the photo and escort information of John Dean’s wife from the files of escort women and prostitutes at that time employed by the DNC. Oh yeah, they attempted to wire tap the offices in hopes of gaining continuing intel. But, unlike Fast and Furious, nobody died, nobody put firearms into the hands of criminals, nobody committed an actual of war against a neighboring sovereign nation, and nobody attempted such an attack on the Constitution by trying to make the 2nd Amendment seem irrelevant. To me this is like trying to compare a serial murderer with two little girls setting up a lemonade stand without a permit.
