Top Ten Richest Celebrities Supporting ‘Occupy Wall Street’

Top Ten Richest Celebrities Supporting Occupy Wall StreetThe Blaze thought it might be interesting to take a look at some of Occupy Wall Street’s wealthiest celebrity supporters. Given that OWS “are the 99%,” and, given the movement’s general distaste for “the other 1%,” we wonder how enjoying support from the wealthy elite jibes with movement’s core principles.

It is difficult to gauge who is most hypocritical in this instance — the wealthy “1%’ers” supporting a movement that claims to revile everything celebrity represents, or OWS protesters for “selling out” and accepting help from the purported “enemy.”

Perhaps the greatest, and, most obvious hypocrisy of all is that, unless born into privilege — as is the case with some of our celebrities below — it can be argued that none of these high net-worth individuals would be where they are today without having availed themselves of the advantages of capitalism.

Here is a list of the 10 wealthiest celebrities supporting Occupy Wall Street. According to Celebrity Networth, the site that compiled the list, they have a combined net worth of $1.255 billion.

Top Ten Richest Celebrities Supporting Occupy Wall Street#1 Yoko Ono Net Worth – $500 million

Probably most ironic of all, is that Ono is a descendant of the prestigious Yasuda banking family, as well as a 9th century Emperor of Japan. She also attended Gakushuin, one of Japan’s most exclusive schools.

Ono stated “I love ‘Occupy Wall Street’! John is sending his smile to ‘Occupy Wall Street.’ I am sending my love to ‘Occupy Wall Street.’ We are all working together. ”

#2 Russell Simmons Net Worth – $325 million Top Ten Richest Celebrities Supporting Occupy Wall Street

Networth reminds that, in addition to being a music mogul and best-selling author, Simmons is the founder of a fee-based credit card company called UniRush Financial Services. But isn‘t the financial services industry to blame for the nation’s economic demise?

Top Ten Richest Celebrities Supporting Occupy Wall Street#3 Roseanne Barr Net Worth – $80 million

Barr, who thinks that bankers earning over $100 million should be beheaded, obviously thinks she escaped the guillotine by earning a meager $80 million.

#4 Deepak Chopra Net Worth – $80 million Top Ten Richest Celebrities Supporting Occupy Wall Street

Chopra is another on our list who was born into privilege. His father, Krishan Chopra, was a prominent Indian cardiologist and head of the department of medicine and cardiology at Mool Chand Khairati Ram Hospital in New Delhi. Chopra’s father was also a lieutenant in the British army.

Chopra, who said OWS is “turning anger into awareness” has amassed quite the fortune from his numerous best-selling self-help books, as well as from the services offered at his luxurious Chopra Center spa and treatment center — where workshops, seminars and the “Journey into Healing” — meant to help anyone, are priced out of reach for just about everyone.

Top Ten Richest Celebrities Supporting Occupy Wall Street#5 Kanye West Net Worth – $70 million

West, who grew up in a quaint, middle class suburb of Chicago, has an entrepreneurial side. While not completely successful, his company, KW Foods LLC, bought the rights to the Fatburger hamburger chain in Chicago with plans to open up ten locations. Additionally, West launched his own fashion line in addition to collaborating with Nike on the release of his own shoe, Air Yeezys. Is West “selling out” with his ever-growing commercial empire?

#6 Alec Baldwin Net Worth – $65 million Top Ten Richest Celebrities Supporting Occupy Wall Street

Perhaps best of all is that in February 2009, Baldwin actually called on lawmakers to extend New York’s tax break for the film and television industry, stating that if the “…tax breaks are not reinstated into the budget, film production in this town is going to collapse and television production is going to collapse and it’s all going to go to California.”

So tax breaks are O.K. then?

Top Ten Richest Celebrities Supporting Occupy Wall Street#7 Susan Sarandon Net Worth – $50 million

Sarandon popped by OWS en route to Italy.

‘”I’m just here to be educated and offer my support. There’s a lot of different kinds of people here who want to shift the paradigm to something that’s addressing the huge gap between the rich and the poor.”

That gap is made abundantly clear when one peruses Sarandon’s $1.75 million Manhattan penthouse.

#8 Michael Moore Net Worth – $50 million Top Ten Richest Celebrities Supporting Occupy Wall Street

An extensive interview with The Guardian in 2004 revealed that, not only has Moore sent his daughter to private school, but that he often travels with body guards and lives in million-plus-dollar residences in NYC’s Upper West Side (at the time of interview) and in Michigan.

The Guardian noted that, although Moore consistently refers to himself as “working-class,” he in fact grew up in a middle-class suburb of Flint, in a two-car family where his father golfed, retired in his fifties, and was financially comfortable enough to send his three children to college.

Perhaps most damning of all, however, was the following passage where Moore’s former manager called the “Fahrenheit 911” maker “money-obsessed”:

Moore’s employers were confronted with ever more regal demands. He insisted that Channel 4 house him at the Ritz when he worked in England on The Awful Truth, a fact he now portrays as the revenge of the working class against corporate might. Meanwhile employees grumbled. ‘He’s a jerk and a hypocrite and didn’t treat us right and he was false in all of his dealings,’ said one former worker. His former manager, Douglas Urbanski, has said that Moore ‘was the most difficult man I’ve ever met… he’s money-obsessed’.

Top Ten Richest Celebrities Supporting Occupy Wall Street#9 Tim Robbins Net Worth – $50 million

According to public records uncovered in The Daily Beast, the UCLA film school graduate shockingly contributed some $5,000 to Republican candidates in 2006 including Tea Party icon Michele Bachmann.

#10 Nancy Pelosi Net Worth – $35.5 million Top Ten Richest Celebrities Supporting Occupy Wall Street

Pelosi, whose father was a U.S. congressman and former mayor of Baltimore, is one of the wealthiest members of Congress. Ironically, her husband, Paul Pelosi, is a successful investment banker and owner of the Sacramento Mountain Lions and the United Football League.

Darn, and I don’t see their heads on pikes. The hypocrisy of the AWolS is stunning.

Hey, if we’re going to talk about parasites what about all the Obama minions, who became millionaires, by working for the government on our taxpayer money? You know, like global-warming salesman Al Gore, and what‘s that guy’s name who’s VP? Oh, yeah. Joe Biden. What the heck does he do anyway besides parking his boat next to someone else’s state and putting his foot in his mouth? And Barack Obama who takes a vacation on our money just about every other week, when he’s not crowning himself king over and over again. How come their heads aren’t on pikes?

And how about Michael Moore? I almost forgot his name. The millionaire who looks like a reject. That one. Who’s always railing against the rich and who thinks Cuba has a better health care system than we did before Obamacare was shoved through.

And who can forget Roseanne who would like the rich beheaded. I‘m sure she’s going to have a difficult time cutting off her own head, but I’m sure she can get one of those AWolS to oblige her.

There’s not a ounce of common sense in any of them.

This is going to turn out like the French Revolution if the right doesn’t try to get in on this. All these Bolsheviks are coming out to support this movement that doesn’t have a leader (supposedly). The right needs to stop condemning OWS and do like Alex Jones and try to take leadership of it and turn it on the Bolsheviks. This OWS could get violent just like the French Revolution. Right now, there are a number of OWS protesters who aren’t Bolsheviks. They are just sick of corporations making money on Wall Street while millions remain unemployed. Take Solyndra for example. I can just imagine some employee asking their boss, “I’m looking at buying a house. Should I?” Boss: “Absolutely, our company hasn’t looked this good in years! By all means, go buy that house.” The following week Solyndra files bankruptcy. Corporations will like to you face and not think twice about it. Look at these trade industries like CTIA Wireless Association that will lie and tell you how customers don‘t want an easier bill to read when the gov’t proposes it. OWS protesters do have some valid grievances such as how these corporations moved jobs to China to boost their profits, all at the expense of American jobs. Now they‘ve been unemployed for a while and now they’re dangerous. I hope OWS does get a bit wild and raids the houses of some like George Soros and do a Mussolini on him. The right needs to show how these people are in the boat they are due to Obama’s failed pol

Actually the large majority of the people that you are talking about are people who KNEW that they couldn’t afford a big fancy house and all the trimmings and they got the government to force the banks to lend the money. And as for Solyndra, that was some corporate thieves that are in bed together with obama. Hmm, all of this stuff points to the liberals and the muslims in the white house. How strange that they are not being picketed by these wannabe pretend thugs prostituting themselves for the liberals.

As much as I liked John Lennen and the Beatles music, it pretty much predicted these drugged hippies with ‘Imagine”(NWO) and “Revolution”. There were a few more songs too, some like 999 with Ono…. very weird. Charles Manson claimed to read into his music and see the future..and of course acted on it and you see where he wound up. These people may not realize it, but they are playing with evil. I also believe some of Michael Jackson’s music was prophetic too, but I think it was quite the opposite from the Beatles, calling for a more peaceful nature. I am going out on a limb here for a minute…lol…and say I am wondering if MJ was killed bc he knew too much. There was a Saudi King sueing him over songs he wanted him to record, but he chose others. Some strange things going on in our world these days. I pray things will calm down and more people will come to their senses. I was over on newsvine(msnbc) and I find many liberals are excited to see Cain running for president, but still say Obama will win. I really don’t care how much this man seems like a Tea Party conservative I think he is a plant and the Alinsky rule is playing this game pretty well and many are buying it. People better wake up and take a look around. How was he so outspoken against Muslims and now blacks but still high in the polls…wake up. Not another candidate could do that. Perry‘s family couldn’t even have a rock on someone else’s property they purchased or leased without condemnation. May God

I really don’t see how throwing your support behind this clueless mob translates into a political boost later on….rather it serves to illuminate who is commited to a system that is totally alien to the American system that has been so widly successful up until the last 2 decades. I really blame the 2 terms of Clinton, and to a much lesser degree the 2 terms of GW and the current term of Dingle Barry that has brought America virtually to it’s knees (financially, economically and culturally) in shuch a short span of time. Of course the vast majority of damage has iccured under the Democarts watch beginning with the 100 year run of Progressive Dems controlling most of the urban centers throughout the USA. The evidence of the willful destruction of the original ideal that the USA was founded on in written in these very same urban centers, and in general the areas of the US that have been dominated for decades by Democrats. How the Dems have managed to portray the Repubs as the culprit for this slide is simply breath taking in it’s audacity and yet for years the general public at large swallowed this BS without questioning it. I believe the past 4-5 years has represented a conservative awakening the likes of which has not been seen for over a 100 years (if at all throughout the nations history). This awakening has surfaced just in the nick of time IMO….hopefully the coming election and it’s results will provide the final nail in the Progressive/Socialist/Communist coffin.

Moore and Pelosi–can’t say more than we have already said here of them

When was the last time Sarandon and Baldwin appeared in a blockbuster? And wasn‘t it ’sensitive’ Alec who went off on a foul-mouthed tirade against his own daughter a few years back? (might have been someone else; correct me if I’m wrong in that one).

People who grow cold, and desperate, in addition to being whipped into a frenzy each and every day — mind numbed, and chanting robots (called brain washing as well), who will then be unleashed for fire, steel and blood.

Yoko‘s musing are sometimes interesting to try and ponder but they reflect someone who doesn’t have any real responsibilities or concerns in life. It reflects the life of someone with excessive amounts of money and too much free time since they don’t have to lift a finger for themselves. One of the “elite 1%” the protesters are against, but simply one of the moronic “idle rich” to me.
