Fannie and Freddie were the ones who triggered this economic collapse. We have had to pay them billions in bailouts, the last just a couple of months ago, and they keep asking for more. This is what you get when you get the mindset that “everyone deserves to own a home” as opposed to “everyone should have the right to buy a house if they can afford it”.

Dinglebags, you really are pathetic. And so predictable, as are most “Progressives” who seem to think that if they can’t come up with a reasoned argument based on fact that shouting loudly on another subject and pointing in another direction is almost as good. Is your only defense of Maxine Waters‘ and Charlie Rangel’s methodical and long-standing corruption and abuse of their public offices to point a finger and yell, “Well, the Republicans did it too!”? That is so 3rd Grade playground. And ethical Republicans, Libertarians, Conservatives, et. al. condemn corruption by the party elites no matter which party they belong to. Why do you think so many incumbent Republicans lost their primary bids to Tea Party candidates? We will try to elect principled people to the Congress, and if Washington corrupts them, as it is wont to do, we will vote them out and replace them too. Most of us figure that slopping at the public trough shouldn’t be a lifelong entitlement anyway. What we are in favor of, and it is a lost concept for most inside the Beltway, is “public service”… Putting the welfare of the nation, your state, your constituency ahead of your own. These two just saw election to the House as a way to get rich, and figured they were above the law. They are not. And neither are corrupt Republicans.

Having Maxine Waters, Charlie Rangel and Barney Frank speak out for Fanny and Freddie who pleaded for NINJA LOANS[ no income, no job, no assets, yet I deserve a loan} and assured us two weeks prior to the TARP money that "Fanny and Freddie are still viable " [per Barney] shows what corrupt thieves these three are. Each made money off the corrupt agencies, each asked that their friend Franklin Raines get a huge bonus and a $60,000,000 “golden parachute” just prior to the facts coming out.Napolitano got money, Rahm Emanuel made a quick $300,000 acting as a consultant for 3 months and the list is endless of the payoffs to friends and familiy members from this agency all at the expense of the taxpayer. That same taxpayer that Obama has promised not to raise their taxes yet there is so much corruption in his administration and the Health Care and Finance bills that the entire country will be bankrupt and Greece wiill look enticing to those who remain.

That’s the problem with these dolts. There‘s a simple reason that people who can’t prove they have a stable income and are able to come up with a down payment shouldn’t be allowed to take out a mortgage. It’s a little trick I like to call MATH! So if you have less than a stellar financial background to the point that you don’t qualify for a loan there is still a place for you to live. It’s called an APARTMENT! That’s not mean spirited, discriminatory or racist. Its REALITY so suck it up and deal with it or get up off your @$$ and do something to improve your situation.

Ron you are correct. He actually wrote it. It was in an article entitled “On the Price of Corn, and Management of the Poor”. It was in the November 29, 1766 edition of The London Chronicle. This is the portion you’re referring to. I post a portion of it here for the benefit of others that have not read it and encourage everyone to read the full text. Truer word were never written.

For my own part, I am not so well satisfied of the goodness of this thing. I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. — I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I travelled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer. There is no country in the world where so many provisions are established for them; so many hospitals to receive them when they are sick or lame, founded and maintained by voluntary charities; so many alms-houses for the aged of both sexes, together with a solemn general law made by the rich to subject their estates to a heavy tax for the support of the poor. Under all these obligations, are our poor modest, humble, and thankful; and do they use their best endeavors to maintain themselves, and lighten our shoulders of this burthen? — On the contrary, I affirm that there is no country in the world in which the poor are more idle, dissolute, drunken, and insolent. The day you passed that act, you took away from before their eyes the greatest of all inducements to industry, frugality, and sobriety, by giving them a dependence on somewhat else than a careful accumulation during youth and health, for support in age or sickness. In short, you offered a premium for the encouragement of idleness, and you should not now wonder that it has had its effect in the increase of poverty. Repeal that law, and you will soon see a change in their manners.

Political correctness, situational ethics, and immoral behavior contributed, but we as citizens have failed in our responsibilities. Preserving our nation is the responsibility of you and I, and our reliance on God’s mercy and grace. We need to repent and live up to our responsibility.

Goodness, gracious. Private industry taking over Fannie and Freddie from these charlatans. If only that would happen. If we get the Republicans back in control of Congress, it is our responsibility to hold their feet to the fire to do the right thing and throttle back this irresponsible spending that is leading us down the road of financial perdition.

Congress is addicted to spending money they don’t have more than a crack or meth addict needs their next hit. I am so tired of hearing some members of Congress and large parts of the media telling us how allowing us, the taxpayers, to keep more of our earnings will cost the government revenues and will have to be made up in the future. Time and time again cutting spending is not even mentioned and off the table. Utterly ridiculous.

When the top ten per cent of wage earners pay seventy per cent of the income taxes collected by the government we are quickly approaching the point where a critical mass of job creators will go John Galt on us; joining those who have already made the decision to stop growing their business and are in survival mode.

Maxine and Charlie, you two keep talking away. After all, the show must go on.

123HALLE, being poor is no disgrace. Your magnificent father taught you all more by his actions than you could ever learn in school. I was raised in a situation very close to what you describe and my dad had lost a leg during wwII and could no longer do the physical job he had had before the war. He was from a family of coal miners before there were unions and his father died of the black lung. He was able to use the GI bill and go to college (No ADA act, he had to figure out how to get to classes or fail them) and become a teacher, even though he could have lived off the taxpayers as a wounded war vet like others did. My parents had 5 of us on a teachers salary, and before you make any judgement about a teacher’s salary, back in 1958 when I was born, that was $113.00 per month with no benefits. When one of us got sick, he was responsible for every cent of the bill. Every one of the 5 of us is a productive member of society who takes personal responsibility for our lives and circumstances. I have concluded that I am much better off having learned to work for everything I want or need than these piteously bleating people who feel that we just don’t do enough for them. My dad used to say, “wish in one hand and sh#@ in the other and see which one fills the fastest.” Crude, I know, but very demonstrative of the point he was making. Many blessings to you and family.

As much as the groups like the Tea Parties, Freedom Works and others as well as the polls demonstrate how the real mainstream American opposes their policies they continue to charge ahead in their oblivion. OLDBALDY you are exactly right. The poorest of the poor live better here than the so-called upper middle class of some countries and they are still whining and bleating piteously that not enough is being done for them. That statement will guarantee me a spot not only as a racist, but also as a snob. These freaks don’t understand: you can take the person out of the ghetto, but you can’t take the ghetto out of the person. People who don’t belong there get out by their own efforts: they work hard and take the hands-up that we willingly extend to all who truly desire a better life for themselves and their children. These social-justice freaks have convinced themselves that they can control not only the starting place, but the outcome for everyone; apparently they don’t have the intelligence with which to observe that every human being, regardless of opportunity, rises or falls to their own existence according to their own drive and innate abilities. It can’t be engineered. I wonder how great this country could be if these academic elites put half as much of their brain power and energy into building America instead of trying to destroy it? When HUD decided to start their gangbanger re-location programs and put the underachievers in neighborhoods with families who work every day and take care of their property and actually CLEAN, with soap and water, dishes and such, the main thing I noticed was that it didn’t uplift the ghetto-dwellers, it took the neighborhoods DOWN. They send in government workers to take out garbage and mow lawns instead of evicting the scum and moving in someone who would be proud to have a house to clean and a lawn to mow. I’m just sayin……

Waters and Rangel still don’t “get it”. It’s amazing that after all this time, after more of the dots were connected about the mortgage crisis and the hand that Fannie and Freddie played in clearing the books of Banks of their toxic debt and selling these loans as MBS worldwide, Waters is STILL promoting their necessity. F&F weren’t part of the Finance Reform Bill, and are still in business, thanks only to the Democrats. And Rangel still believes that after trillions of dollars have been redistributed to the “needy”, the US should still be considering widespread entitlement programs. It is the cancer that needs to be surgically excised from the halls of Congress and from the American mindset. I never had heard of Cloward and Piven’s strategy for the destruction of the free markets and capitalism before Glenn Beck educated me on the subject. But there’s simply no other explanation for the continuation of liberal ideology in the face of our enormous economic troubles. This November election will make 1994 seem like a close election…let‘s hope the GOP doesn’t blow it again, and stems the tide of progressivism/socialism.

Motomatt, they honestly don’t believe they did anything wrong! The culture of corruption is so deeply ingrained in our government that there is absolutely no sense of honor, pride or shame. This is the roman senate on steroids. This is a reflection of what we have allowed our children to be taught is acceptable behavior. If we don’t take drastic action to re-educate the children, we can only expect more of the same, even worse. Intelligence without conscience is extremely dangerous: ex. Dr. Mengele, Karl Marx, Joseph Stalin, Adolph Hitler, the list goes on. What does a person have to say to themselves to justify the types of actions taken by these examples? Even if society is divided on a belief in God, this has been happening since we allowed God to be taken from public view. There are no longer any reminders of right and wrong on view in public, making it much easier to ignore the conscience, if a person still HAS a conscience.

There are people who are allowed to vote who graduated from high school having been taught this history (only a sample, I’m saving time and space): Ron Reagan was an anarchist who almost succeeded in destroying the government(notice it was the govt he almost destroyed, not the country). The founders of this country were greedy white men who all abused slaves in every possible and unthinkable way. Americans are greedy and materialistic and that is horrible for the planet. Private property ownership destroys a society. I kid you not. We live in an upscale suburb and this is a sample of what our neighbors children who graduated 2002-2005 were taught in a suburban American public school, among many other abominations.

How does a Liberal icon change a lightbulb? They put the bulb to the socket and wait for the world to revolve around them

“Hands up” must be the new code word for a “handout.” Anyone remember the crying woman who, when Obama was elected, said “thank the Lord, I won’t have to make my house payment or car payment anymore.” She appears to be right.

      Okay, quick quiz…
      1) Who’s economic system was this country founded on, Adam Smith or John Maynard Keynes?

      2) Which form of liberty more closely aligns with the founders, Karl Marx or John Stuart Mill?

      3) How would you like to be judged, by your actions or by the groups you happen to be born into?

To my progressive friends, please read some free market economics books. Try “Wealth of Nations” by Adam Smith and if that is too difficult try “Free to Choose” by Milton Friedman.

mercyme…you are a box of rocks

These are ethics violations brought upon a bi-partisan committee in congress.

NOW LETS TALK ABOUT TWO RECENT REPUBLICANS WHO COMPLETELY BYPASSED ETHICS COMMITTEE AND WENT DIRECTLY TO PRISON.

Bob Ney R Ohio for conspiracy and making false statements
Randy Cunningham R CA conspiracy and bribery
      THEY ARE STILL IN PRISON
How about the ethics of current Nevada Senator Ensign who paid off his mistress with Money and RNC jobs for family members…he is still in the Senate. David Vitters in Louisiana preaches family values but visits call girls…still in Senate.

BUT I WILL SAFE THE ULTIMATE UNETHICAL HYPOCRITE FOR LAST.
      NEWT GINGRINCH
THIS SCUMBAG WAS SO GREASY HIS OWN PARTY KICKED HIM OUT SPEAKER AFTER FINING AND REPRIMANDING HIM.
      http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/govt/leadership/stories/012297.htm

NEWT IS SUCH A SLIMEBALL THAT HE WAS HAVING AN AFFAIR WITH HIS STAFFER WHILE HE WAS IMPEACHING CLINTON FOR MONICA LEWINSKY BS. HIS PRIOR WIFE HE CHEATED ON AND DIVORCED WHILE SHE WAS SUFFERING FROM CANCER.

      http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/newt/boyernewt1.html

Just think….if Newt would have not distracted Clinton with his HYPOCRITICAL impeachment. Perhaps Clinton could have focused more on Osama Bin Laden and 911 would have never happened.

So on 911, I am floating a theory that Newt Gingrinch is possibly indirectly responsible for 911.
I hope Newt can live with that.
However, based on his history of narcissism, no ethics, no compassion and I am sure it does not bother him in the least. He sees 911 as a way to make money any way he can,

Dingleberry is pretty much an idiot, but he does make one point (indirectly and unintentionally)…that the problem is in both parties: Progressivism, poewer though Big Government, Corruption and a lack of ethics are the norm.

The solution: The ideals promoted by the Tea Party – A return to the Constitution, small gov’t, lower taxes, personal liberty, honesty and integrity. Vote for the PERSON based on their beliefs (backed up by voting record), NOT THE PARTY!

      Thanks Dingleberry.

danglingbags.. Of course it had to be YOU with your delusional conspiracy theory’s .. sounds a lot like OBAMA point the finger.. Clinton getting his cigar smoked by an staffer is NEWTS fault?? Listen I voted for CLINTON and even I KNEW he did it BEFORE he admitted.. now the fact that Clinton was focused on one part of his body and wasn’t doing his job is NEWTS fault. PLEASE that’s even LAME for YOU..
There are enough slime balls on BOTH sides to go around and ALL slime ball INCLUDING these two should go to JAIL.. and since the DEMOCRATS don’t have enough b**** to do the job they were hired for and are playing party I hope the Republicans get in and do it for them.. I see how this works if the LEFT does it it’s OK just blame it on the RIGHT but if the RIGHT does the same thing THEY should go to jail?? Not to bias are you?? @ DANGLINGBAGS

Progressivism has rotted out the core values of the Democrats from the 50′s-60′s-70′s. Now they’re just a gang of power mad, money junkies. They see a cash cow, it’s called the American economy, so they milk it for all it’s worth, then kick it aside for a pro-government movement.

Newt is a progressive, it’s obvious. I apologize to his followers, but he is. He is less open about it than other members of the political realm, but he is none-the-less power mad.
