Topless Michelle Obama Portrayed as Semi-Nude ‘Slave’ on Cover of Spanish Mag

Michelle Obama is gracing newsstands across Spain this month– but it’s not her famous arms that are on display.

On the cover of Magazine Fuera de Serie, the first lady’s head is featured on the body of a semi-naked woman, draped in the American flag with a headscarf sometimes associated with slaves.

Althea Legal-Miller for Clutch magazine aptly writes: “Perhaps because it seems so obviously offensive, the mind attempts to rationalize; ‘Did this get lost in translation, or is this as racist as I think?’”

Miller has more information on the shockingly inappropriate cover:

The magazine cover for the feature article “Michelle Tataranieta De Esclava, Dueña De América” (Michelle Granddaughter of a Slave, Lady of America) is the brainchild of white French/English fine artist Karine Percheron-Daniels.  Her mixed-media portrait superimposes Obama’s head onto the famous art-historical body of an African Guadeloupean female slave painted by French artist Marie-Guilhelmine Benoist in 1800. 

Percheron-Daniels’ portrait, First Lady, was not commissioned for the Spanish magazine cover, but is part of a larger series of “famous nudes” that includes Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth II, Abraham Lincoln, and President Barack Obama.  In defense of her controversial series, the artist argues that she offers the viewer an “alternative unexpected reality” that allows us to “view famous individuals in a different way.”

Apparently, the Spanish-language article praises the first lady’s accomplishments and deems her the “gran mujer” (great lady) behind the American president.

“In the shadow of the U.S. President is a person whose popularity ratings exceed those of Barack’s own. This person is none other than his wife Michelle… To find out how Michelle has managed to seduce the American people . . . [we] detail the secrets of a woman has not [just] only won the heart of Barack Obama,” an except reads.

Regardless, Miller maintains: “Let’s be clear: This image has nothing to do with acknowledging Obama’s enslaved foremothers, and everything to do with reinforcing and extending the historical denial of black women’s individuality and agency.”

Seemingly oblivious to the international controversy, artist Percheron-Daniels commented: “I’m sure Obama would love it, and I hope that someday she can see it.”

    If only there were “TRUE” Freedom of Speech in America. This Mag cover could not be done here in US from fear of “white guilt,” the exact feelings that were felt when MOST were casting the ballot in 2008.

    Politicians USE your “feelings” or the animal instincts we were born with to RULE over you just as every other King/Communist/Fascist Ruler through out history.

      How do you figure? So far as I know, there is not a law against caricatures or artistic renditions of politicians. If there is, please, I’d be happy to know about it.

      Freedom of speech does not mean freedom the consequence of that speech.

      I do not care for the Obamas, but I would never READ OR LOOK at this periodical, even out of curiosity. It is despicable and says a LOT about Spain.

      As for Michelle, I think she is very pretty for a black woman, but very ugly as a First Lady. MICHELE OBAMA HAS NO REAL CLASS. SHE IS BOSSY, A HYPOCRITE AND RACIST AGAINST WHITE PEOPLE, but that’s just my opinion. I cannot wait until they leave the WH in January so we can bring some REAL CLASS BACK TO THE MOST RESPECTED OFFICE IN THE LAND.

      Right now, it is the MOST DISRESPECTED ADMINISTRATION IN AMERICAN HISTORY, BESIDES CARTER AND ROOSEVELT. Obama can thank his father for this, since Barack seems to want to imprint America with his father’s dreams. IT WON‘T EVER HAPPEN BECAUSE AMERICA WON’T LET IT HAPPEN – NOT ANYMORE. Obama has a short time left as President because HE WILL LOSE IN NOVEMBER, BADLY.

      The Obama administration is the worst President in history.

      I partly agree…
      Her wife is the elected president of our beloved United States.
      And she is the first lady
      And she the right to have her pet projects
      But without being able instantly provide proof, I have this feeling that she HATES White Americans and anyone that wishes to follow in their footsteps.

      The number one moment I can remember is her stating:
      I am proud FOR THE FIRST TIME of being an American.
      And since then have watched her “fan club” do nothing but demonize anyone that has been sucessful without government help.

      So yes, she is the first lady, but to me her contradictions in attitude towards law abiding Americans while blowing their taxes on over the top expensive clothing is very intolerable.

I have been very disturbed by the fact that our education system has left out the fact that institutional slavery was inherited, by us, from the wonderous and peace loving Europeans. You know the ones who started two World Wars last century, terrorized the polulation, especially the Jews with the inquisition, brought us Napoleon, facisim and communism. The ones who colonized Africa and fed opium to the Chinese. Basically, the people from which our forefathers boarded ships to escape. I have spent several days this month in Madrid and I have pondered how much of the stolen Indian gold is in the Monclove Palace; or have they already sold it all to the Chinese?

The Civil War and Abe Lincoln’s murder of innocent American citizens by the use of the Union troops had nothing to do with opposition to black slavery but in fact what it had to do with was enslaving all of mankind under the thumb of the overwhelming central government.

Someone in another BLAZE thread said they noticed he was all gaga over the ‘nastygina-protest’ and felt as though he was inclined (had an uncontrollable urge) to go on down and attending. Apparently he was beyond excited making all kinds of nutty statements, on the thread then suddenly just before he vanished said something like “they need me down there.” , Then later on someone else said they thought they saw him (see his reply-associated photo) at the protest uncontrollably humping the leg of a not so happy makebelieve gina. I think at a party, he had weekend before last when his house exploded from an inordinate buildup of methane gas created by wango and the party goers, when someone inadvertantly lit a match and his stash of blowup dolls went up in smoke.
