Topless Ukrainian Feminists Storm Iranian ‘Cultural Event’ to Protest Planned Stoning

First thing to know — the video clip in this post is an edited version that is not as explicit as the original.

The group, Femen, has done this kind of thing before.  They certainly know how to create a stir:

Activists from Ukrainian pressure group Femen tore off their clothes and shouted slogans against ‘court-sanctioned murder’ during the event at the Ukrainian House convention centre which was attended by hundreds of Ukrainian and Iranian dignitaries.

‘Don’t kill women!’ shouted one as security guards moved to expel the protesters after a scuffle.

Sakineh Mohammadi-Ashtiani’s case, which Iranian authorities say is under review, has sparked international protests in recent months.

The audience at the even later received an apology from Ukrainian officials, who said: ‘At least we don’t have to be ashamed about what we have on display.’

    I’m not sure I follow the logic of ripping your clothes off to protest a stoning. The cause is noble, but doing it topless was just stupid.

    To the people that think it was some kind of “in your face” to Muslims…um no. Muslim men could care less about a woman exposing herself, as long as she’s not one of his family members. They don’t care if somebody else does it, only when someone in their family brings shame on them…then of course they must be killed.

    Any way you can ladies! If you bare boobs will stop other (much more ugly and probably male) boobs, stick it to ‘em. Stoning women for having sexual desires is like cutting off your own erection.

    Good for them. That would be a good point to make . The nudity to the muslim world to prove a point was very brave on their part. It was non violent but effective.

    They are brave and making a point. Knowing the shock that their nudity would cause the Iranians and defending womens rights priceless. Being half naked pretty ……much a Kodack moment. There are alot of things going on in this world that deseve a none violent eye opening protest.

    lol. Do you know what this is? This is like one of those rare occurrences in the wild when you see a bear going up against a mountain lion or a crocodile in a death roll with an anaconda. It’s fascinating and entertaining to watch two extremists going head to head. I’m kinda rooting for the Iranians, but not really….

      @Ludwika, you are so right; they completely remain silent on the fact that women in Afghanistan & Iraq have never had life better, thanks to George W. Bush!
