‘Totally Weird’: Sustainability Org. Mocks Beck at Conference But Wants to Adopt His Tactics

Newsflash: Glenn Beck is “totally weird,” or so one organization of local governments focused on sustainability says. But that criticism only goes so far: consider that the same group mocking beck, the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives, actually thinks Beck is a good example for how to gain a following.

The founder of ICLEI, Jeb Brugmann, was speaking to members over the weekend in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, at its World Congress 2012 meeting ahead of the United Nations sustainability summit — Rio+20 — that begins on Wednesday. In his speech to enliven his audience with the “spirit of audacity that started our movement,” Brugmann looks to Beck as a method for effecting change.

He begins asking the audience to repeat this phrase: “I am a species that re-engineers the environment to establish the ecosystem that is required to sustain my growing urban region. Just like a beaver.”

Asking a member in the audience who is a mayor in Arkansas, Brugmann wonders if this phrase could be used to get re-elected. The consensus is probably not and that it could be too “weird.” But here’s where Beck comes into play.

“We often think we have to be safe. We often think we can’t say the bold thing,” Brugmann says. Cue image of Glenn Beck in a Fox News screenshot and Brugmann identifying him as “one of the leading media pundits.”

“This guy is totally weird,” Brugmann said, explaining that even in light of that he makes millions per year and mobilized a national political movement. “Weirdness isn’t all bad is it?”

Brugmann goes on to cite how Beck’s “weirdness” has “convinced a large part of the population that ICLEI — “you” — are part of a global conspiracy to take away the freedom of the American people.”

Cue audience laughter.

Not wanting “these” people to lead the debate on global sustainability or the environment, Brugmann uses Beck’s success to suggest his audience “get more audacious and weird.”

Watch the video taken from CFACT:

At this very same conference, CFACT reported, ICLEI members were using new terminology to reference climate science:

Huxley Lawler, Executive Coordinator of Environment and Climate Change of the Gold Coast City Council in Australia (an ICLEI member), told CFACT Executive Director Craig Rucker bluntly that “we don’t use the term climate change anymore. It’s sustainable development.” [emphasis CAJ]  Rucker and CFACT staffer Abdul Kamara confirmed this in conversations with other delegates, including Paul Chambers, a Sustainability Manager for the Auckland Council in New Zealand. Chambers said it is important to use inexact environment protection terminology when dealing with conservative governments, like the one he says currently heads his nation.

This wouldn’t be the first time of late that language changes were being made to appeal to a conservative audience. The Blaze reported last week in order to help pass legislation in Virginia for a study on sea level rise, linguistic modifications were made to a more “politically neutral” tone.

Man, I hope we can all stand boldly against this organization. The religion of environmentalism is an atheistic, humanistic and earth worshipping group. They are powerful so we must gain power in our beliefs of varying faiths.

Christ taught the lesson that he who helps others is neighbor to them and to go and do likewise. He taught the parable of the good samartan and approved of the infidel samaratan who did the good works over the orthodox people who didn’t.

Same with Romney, if you think his faith isn’t orthodox, well it looks like he sure has been neighbor to those around him. I therefore suppose that he would stand more approved before God than those who claim to be orthodox but speak only and don’t do anything.

You should look at the man’s character and judge him by that!

This guy suggests that we are all sheep being lead by a shepard “Conspiricy Theorist”. The problem these “Theory of evolution” monkeys have is that we have access to the truth about what they are attempting to implement which IS infringing on our freedom. I have read dozens of stories from across this nation about these idiots attempting to implement their agenda. The end result is ALWAYS an infringment on the individual rights of the citizens of this country. If they dare tell the truth, they erase the word “Theory”. Beck just reads their own conspiratorial words. Absolute morons!!!

Ah, sustainability, one of my favorite subjects, and one used to politicians or various stripes who want to control us all by telling us what we can and cannot do. They’d like to huddle us all together in 50 story hovels, and tell us too bad if we don’t like it. Anyone ever seen Soylent Green? That’s how they foresee the future for us commoners….

Beck has been correct. Beck asks for no credit. Beck is straight forward with us that he is no God. And that all he does is study History. Which has proven over and over History surely does indeed repeat itself.
Even Jim Jones made a plea to God at the End. Jim Jones left that sign at the site of the 900+ deaths he was responsible for. That Read…Those who shun History, are doomed to repeat it! Something to that effect.
I see so many people on Fox and elsewhere, now talking about with great concern, topics Glenn let us in on as long as three years ago. I shouldn’t. But I find this amusing.

“sustainability”………6 million need to die so they can insure their marxist life style. That would be you, your family, your friends and neighbors. This evil hope may include Putin’s launch of thermal nuclear missles into the US and soon. Obummer and congress along with your top state gov. leaders all have bug out bomb shelters. YOU? Your suppose to hope and pray for the best outcome under God’s destructive judgement. Hope you survive after all you voted for the vile leaders like Obummer and Romney types. If you were silent and not salt and light as Christians you are the cause.

I think you’re off by a few zeros. These nut-jobs believe that the earth can only sustain about 500M or so of us “viruses” meaning that 6 BILLION need to be removed from the living biomass of this planet. For the hardcore, Marx isn’t their god – he’s a means to an end – “Gia” (‘mother earth’) is.

The big 2,000 lb. gorilla in the room is “susainability”. Just another way to say “we need you to die along with 6 billion other planet dwellers so I can be assured of enough natural resources to enjoy my full and plentiful life style while the I billion who remain are herded into cities and the rural areas are reforested and returned to parks for my benefit to enjoy. In the meantime I may have to start WW III and soon to get rid of you, your family, and 6 billion more slaves so I can enjoy a NWO UN marxist backed gov..

I know it’s off topic but is anyone else seeing these two ads on the top of the blazes website “Sign Elizabeth Warrens Birtday Card” banner and directly under it the “Goldline” banner. Initially I though it was all one ad and thought it was a joke form goldline. I found it a little amusing plus why would Elizabeth Warrens campaign think that advertising on The Blaze is money well spent?

I have seen 0bama ads on the Blaze before. Some of them are in a random site rotation thing and they don‘t even know what site they’ll show up on.

Those numerous ads are why pages on the Blaze load so slow and sometimes can even freeze your computer up. Every time you open a page here, you are opening so many inline frames (iframes) and Flash files that each page is like opening a complete medium size website all at once.

What a laugh riot. It‘s only Beck’s normalcy that appears weird to the extremists on the left.

Questioning a completely unproven theory, and then deriding the ridiculous policies that emerge from it?

    Sounds pretty NORMAL to me.
