Only weeks into production, Anderson Cooper’s new daytime talk-show “Anderson,” is in the midst of a tragedy. Gawker reports that a teenager who was set to appear during an episode is now in a coma after one of the new show’s producers encouraged him to “film the crazy stuff you do.” Prior to the broadcast, the teen filmed himself skateboarding and fell, sustaining a severe injury. Gawker reports that Cooper is “distraught.” A rep for Anderson has confirmed the injury to The Hollywood Reporter, saying:
“‘Our producers were working with a teen and his parents on a show about the science of the Teenage Brain, based on a National Geographic story,‘ the rep’s statement read. ‘As part of our routine process, we ask guests for video footage and photos. We did not provide the family with a camera. On the morning that they were supposed to travel to NYC, we learned that the teen had been injured. We are very concerned about him, and are thinking of him and his family at this time.’”
Anderson Cooper himself responded to THR Saturday night:
“I was very saddened to hear the news of this accident, and want to express my deepest concerns for the teenager who was injured. I take this situation seriously, and my thoughts and prayers for his health, well-being and recovery are with him and his family.”
Gawker reports that the show was to be on the “teenage mind,“ and ”the show never aired.”

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 6:14pmI guess Coopers rating were more important than the safety of this young man. To know that he was encouraged to do this on film for the show proves a lack of good judgement and the desperation of MSNBC to get better ratings. I blocked the channel from my satalite a long time ago.

Maybe Anderson can stage Obama walking on water – the useful idiots and Chris Matthews would get those thrills again. I smell Emmy Anderson!

Posted on October 2, 2011 at 7:53pmNothing surprising here, what comes to my mind is the old adage “if someone told you to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge Would You?” … Some people today will do ANYTHING to be pseudo celebs. ANYTHING. And I say Pseudo because these people are here today and forgotten today in this Youtube instant hit culture, and this is the end result of it.
When it‘s said and done one’s on their own to wallow in their stupidity for one second they’ll pay for for or with a lifetime in pursuit of that 15 minutes of fame. I don’t shed a tear for this kid because he did it to himself. Too many other people with MS or MD or other diseases fight everyday over something THEY DIDN’T DO to themselves I DO cry for than to feel sorry for folks that do.

Posted on October 2, 2011 at 7:46pmalthough I disagree with Anderson on just about everything, I think he is a good man. he had his mom on for mother’s day a few years back and I emailed him to tell him I just lost my mom and that he should enjoy every moment he has left with his. he sent back a really nice email, I was surprised he took the time to respond. I hope the young man recovers fully and I know Anderson must feel awful about it.

Posted on October 2, 2011 at 7:37pmThis is what happens to people (young and old) when they want their “15 minutes of fame.” It’s time to stop living in the moment and start living for the future. The only problem is to live for the future, people have to start thinking again. Easier said than done. The progressives have done such a good job propagandizing and indoctrinating our children about the way of consumerism (coveting) and living in the moment (idol worship), that it is going to take years of hard work to reverse this. But, we can do this and I believe, with the help of God, will reverse this path we have put ourselves on for the past 100+ years. All we have to do is pay attention and ask questions aimed at finding the truth. The truth will make America strong and an example to the world, once again.

Posted on October 2, 2011 at 9:49pmYou’ve got to be kidding?? Do you think the kid would have been doing it if they hadn’t of asked him too??? While teenagers are stupid and the parents even dumber for going along with it, Anderson needs to take responsibility for his recklessness. I hope the family sues him for all he’s worth.
Report Post »angelcat
Posted on October 3, 2011 at 12:28amBut this risk taking was encouraged by someone who should have known better but let his desire for good TV to cloud his judgement – the producer who made the suggestion. This teen ager was egged on.
Report Post »angelcat
Posted on October 2, 2011 at 7:27pmI feel bad for the teen and family, but this is what happens when getting the ratings is more important than using good sense. The producer wanted what he considered would be good television. Telling a teen to film “crazy stuff”, considering that some teens have very poor judgement, is a request which is at best unwise and, as we see here, can be downright dangerous. I won’t be surprised if a lawsuit follow shortly.

Posted on October 2, 2011 at 6:42pmFirst, let me tell you, I am a staunch conservative. Now, look at this realistically. Cooper really didn’t cause this kid to do what he did. The kid made the decision to do it. Accidents happen. Jumping on Cooper for this is not really the right thing to do. Liberals do these kinds of “Jump Ons” but mature people don’t.
Report Post »The Third Archon
Posted on October 2, 2011 at 6:50pmOther than the statement that liberals categorically “jump on” (i.e. make hasty generalizations and/or jump to conclusions), your statement is absolutely correct.
Report Post »Chuck Stein
Posted on October 2, 2011 at 7:00pmSorry, ARCHIE, but your qualification of HICKORY’s comment shows that you have not been observing events in America over the past few decades. Liberal SOP is to “jump on” a conservative when ill befalls the conservative. It makes more “sense” for atheistic, big goverment types to act in that way. Why? Because politics is inherently a bigger part of their lives and they want to make it the biggest part of everyone else’s life.
Report Post »Magyar
Posted on October 2, 2011 at 7:04pm@hickory. Was Cooper directly responsible? NO. However, for the sake of sensationalism, HIS producers were instrumental in encouraging a crazy a$$ teenager to do a crazy a$$ thing. In fairness, many others–regardless for their political lean are guilty of the same or worse!

Posted on October 2, 2011 at 7:18pm@ HICKORY you are right to a point. However, kids get themselves in enough trouble without being encouraged to film themselves doing crazy stuff. This kid may have put extra effort into what he was doing for the film, so he did intice him to go over the top.

Posted on October 2, 2011 at 6:34pmI don’t like Anderson Cooper and I feel like he is a snob/elitist. I do however feel bad for the teen who agreed to be on his show. I‘m amazed that the lame stream media isn’t all over this, criticizing Anderson Cooper for being more concerned with getting exciting footage for his new show, than the safety of an innocent teenager. That’s what they headline would read if it had been an incident on a FOX broadcast. I’m starting to get the feeling that the media is biased and protects Liberals against such harsh criticism.

Out of 10 kids we maybe able to hurt or kill 2 or 3 them – imagine the ratings.
