Tragic: 9-Month-Old Baby Dies After Being Injected With Massive Amounts of Cocaine and Heroin By Babysitters

Philadelphia Couple Accused of Injecting 9 Month Old Baby Milton Galarza Rojas with Heroin and Cocaine Oscar Sanchez Rivera, Viameri Santana Berrios

A Philadelphia couple will stand trial in the death of a 9-month-old baby who died of a drug overdose after being injected with massive amounts of heroin and cocaine.

In a horrifying discovery, Doctors found “track marks” — bruises left from needle punctures — on the child’s hands and feet, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The child’s aunt, Viameri Santana-Berrios, 27, and Oscar Sanchez-Rivera, 24, were looking after baby Milton Galarza-Rojas when he died.

It is unclear exactly much cocaine and heroin was injected into the baby but a medical examiner reportedly told a Philadelphia court that Rojas had so many drugs in his body that he compared him to a “drug mule.”

The Daily Mail has more on the disturbing details of the the 9-month-old’s death:

Paramedic Dale Schroder told the court that he recognized ‘track marks’ normally found on drug addicts when he was trying to revive the baby.

He said he had been called to the home last July after the baby was reported as being unresponsive.

Schroeder said Santana-Berrios led him to a bedroom where he saw Sanchez-Rivera standing over the body of a baby who was naked and lying on a towel on the bed.

The child was cool to the touch, pale, and unresponsive, and Schroeder’s said his efforts failed to revive the child.

Schroeder said he and his partner took the child to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, where he was pronounced dead.

At the hospital, the paramedic added, Milton’s internal body temperature was already too low to register on a rectal thermometer.

Medical examiner Lieberman Edwin said an autopsy showed eight needle marks on the feet and hands as well as heroin and cocaine still undigested in the child’s stomach.

Lieberman said he had never seen this level of drugs before in a child.

Both defendants gave statements to detectives that claimed the baby, who had a history of breathing problems, began snoring, stopped breathing, and turned blue.

The Philadelphia Inquirer says defense attorneys strenuously contested the charges during Tuesday’s preliminary hearing. The couple is charged with murder, conspiracy and other counts in the July 26 death of Rojas.

Sanchez-Rivera’s attorney Michael Medway said it made no sense for him to inject and kill a child that he and his girlfriend were only watching for her cousin. ”Why? Because the kid is too much of a pain?” Medway asked.

Further, Santana-Berrios’ lawyer said that neither autopsy nor witnesses could show that his client injected drugs into the baby.

Prosecutors, however, cited a medical examiner’s testimony that the heroin and cocaine had to have been ingested or injected within six hours of death.

“For 391/2 hours, this baby was in the care of these two people,” Assistant District Attorney Kirn argued. “Take a look at the math and at the level of care and how they acted. The body has track marks. Track marks on a baby.”

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

You might be forgetting, the detainees in Guantonemo are mostly Militant Islamic Extremist’s. These people kill for much less than being an infidel. With the last name of Rojas(Rohaus) this child would most certainly be concidered an infidel in the eyes of the Militant Islamic Extremist’s.

With that being said, this is truly one of the most disgiusting horrific stories I have heard since I dont know when and dont want to spend the time thinking of vial acts to figure it out. My prayers go to the childs parents and family and am certain that GOD has welcomed the most inocent of his children home; a child. May GOD have mercy on their soul. I just hope the courts hand down what they should receive. The death penalty. They should be returned to the LORD for the LORD to figure out what is wrong with them. Not retrobution!

You can’t send them to Gitmo….it’s a resort there. you’re given really good food, exercise, ball fields, you’re able to practice your religion (if your Muslim). I was stationed in Bermuda and their Prison served bread and water and you sleep on a concrete slab with a thin mattress. You got 15 minutes outside a day, and nothing else, you were in your cell the rest of the time. If you wanted something besides bread and water, you had to have a relative bring it in. I know because I was stationed there in the Navy, and a girl I knew had a boyfriend come to live with her and he got caught with drugs on the plane. This was in the 80′s though, so I don‘t know if they’re still like that. That’s the sort of prisons we need here…none of this you get a chance to buff up in a state of the art gym room, you get 3 hours outside, you have a TV, cable, etc.

@DetroitPaperBoy as always you hit the nail right on the head. I would bet my entire next paycheck that indeed you will find that these two received food stamps & every other sort of free thing one can imagine. I bet the baby was receiving WIC checks that never reached it’s poor pathetic little mouth. Instead mommy & dad ate the Honey Nut Cheerios whenever they were sober enough to shovel down food until their next fix. C’mon liberals..do some research & take the Jaylew challenge & determine the fact that these 2 pieces of human trash parents were recipients of public assistance. Argue with me that my posit is absurd & that most food stamp recipients are just the millions of losers in George Bush’s National Lottery from years ago. Dope costs big money & when one is not burdened with the same financial load as those of us who actually DO have to pay for our food, shelter & everything else….then voila’ being an injector of high powered drugs becomes just that much easier to accomplish. The poor little boy never even had a chance & instead of me trying to concoct and devise punishments fit for these 2 idiot parents. I would prefer instead to rely on the ethereal hoping beyond measure that the face of their helpless hopeless son haunts the mother & father every single remaining day of their miserable lives. Like Casper an unfriendly ghost with their eyes open or closed may they see their sons face. A kinder God you say in smarm? No in fact He can be merciless. Know that.

In the end the answers to these question mean nothing. As adults it is our duty to protect childern, not hurt them. There are a whole lot of people who let this baby down. The parents the babysitters and anyone else who knew that this child may have been in danger. After 39 hours you can bet the neighbours knew something was amiss. These 2 animals definitely knew. Most of all parents leaving a child with a babysitter for almost 2 days. I know I would not be able to do that. I didnt see anything about the parents coming hime either. A lot of people let this baby down and it started long before he was left with the people who murdered him.

First 2 question deserve an answer. Number 3 does it matter. I bet being illegal has nothing to do with loving and caring for kids. (Just saying)
Number 4. You must be a moron if you think being in Philadelphia had anything to do with this. Its a city that it just another place on the map. I bet the place you live at a few skeletons to. Maby you should think before you comment next time. Nuff said.

      @WMGILL
I would argue the responsibility was between the parents and the babysitters what happened to that poor tike. It was not mine, societies, or the ‘village’. Once the crime is committed then the responsibility is to exact justice and ensure full punishment is received.

Citing the responsibility should be spread throughout the community absolves those who are truly at fault. That is the liberal mantra that attempts to deflect responsibility from those that perpetrate. Bastardization of morality. Spreading that through the collective will eventually poison the collective. Destroy the concept of the collective and return to individual liberty AND responsibility.

@Leader1776 Whe I said “The parents the babysitters and anyone else who knew that this child may have been in danger” this is what I was saying. The parents were responsible. The babysitters wer responsible. Ther is no argument there. The part where I said anyone who knew this child may have been in danger, let me explain. Only a junkie would leave there baby with 2 junkies for almost 2 days. Sense people do not live in a vacuum others knew these parents wer unfit to raise this child. It may have been their neighbours, friends or family but someone knew and did nothing. If I am at a friends house and see the beating the crap out of there children (beating not spanking their is a difference) I will step in and stop them. I will also do my best to prevent it from happening again. I cannot stand by and do nothing while someone who is not able to defend themself is being abused like this. I did not say it is was the “societies, or the ‘village’” or your fault but you can bet others knew that baby was in danger and did nothing. As for punishment I am a big fan of hanging but lethal injection will have to do in this case.
I do not believe that responsibility shoud fall on the whole community only those who knew and did nothing. If you did not know then this means you are not responsible.Someone must stand and say I will not allow this to happen. If not you,who will it be?

WTF Just when I don’t think humanity can stoop to a new low, something like this happens and the bar is dropped lower. In 5 years we‘ll all probably so desensitized that we won’t even be shocked at stories like this. Because our court system is broken. The guilty are allowed to sit and get treated better than some of us regular folks. In the past these people would have already been tried and sentenced now they get three squares a day and tv and gym access that we pay for. The judicial system needs to be torn apart and put back together correctly, no more petty lawsuits, no more money for spilling coffee on yourself, ect.
