‘Tranny Thai’: Portland Restaurant Gets Biz Kick From Drag Staff

This story is going to make your favorite Thai place seem pretty boring. Welcome to Oasisba:

“You can get a drag show at a lot of places. You can get good food at a lot of places, but we’re the only ones that do good food and good drag at the same time,” said Phaedra Knight, a waitress in drag.Aside from an occasional bad apple, the servers say most people love the new direction. Autumn Knight said the restaurant’s nickname on the streets is “Tranny Thai.”

I saw some very beautiful women (men dressed as women) when I was in New Orleans with my parents and husband in 1968. I could not believe they were men until they showed the audience their “fake” bust and took off their wigs. I’m sure there are a lot of people who will find something in the Bible to say it is wrong, but I sure didn’t find anything wrong with it and it made all of us smile. It was a great evening. May God Bless.

*shrug* I’d go. I’m not afraid of guys in dresses. Drag queens are kind of funny…you can always tell a drag queen…they spend an inordinate amount of time looking in whatever mirror is available, adjusting their make-up and their hair.

what the H with Oregon in our Blaze news today [Saturday], esp Portland, did it ask for the absolute sexual morons and freaks to gravitate to it ?! look what it’s done to its kids. now its restaurants are so infected too? well, good for them, Capitalism at work. they found their niche alright for WHERE they are. hey let them and their kids all revel in the AIDS unit later on.

this is all obama-democrats already anyway, so we already know it’s a despicable place NOT to visit. one more reason to let it slip from care and concern of the United States.

I wish Portland would stop making news for being such a circus freak show. The mayor of Silverton Oregon is a cross dresser, ohh yes…he loves to wear his long red haired wig with skirts, high heels and tight little tops. He actually expects people to respect him and do business with him when he is dressed that way. The I-5 corridor is a cess-pool of liberals and freaks….the rest of oregon is pretty conservative.

    FIGURE THAT OUT, FIRST!

I’m really tired of these “Politicians” spending and wasting OUR time and OUR MONEY, on firing back AT CITIZENS WHO HAVE A RIGHT TO TALK ABOUT POLITICIANS WHO AREN’T DOING THEIR DAMN JOBS.

And, OUR DUMBS AZZ’S KEEP RE-ELECTING AND PAYING THE POLITICIANS WHO DON‘T PERFORM AND CAN’T FIGURE OUT THE MESS THEY CREATE FOR THIS COUNTRY….AND US!

When is SHELIA JACKSON LEE UP FOR REMOVAL?

THIS is a PERFECT EXAMPLE OF HER ABUSE OF “DUTIY” AND HER ABUSE OF THE 1ST AMENDMENT.

There seem to be some uptight readers. Have you never been to a theme restaurant? Seen dinner and a show? It’s entertainment, not a statement. You should know that being a crossdresser is not just a “gay thing.”
Relax and enjoy, it’s just entertainment. Don’t like it? Dont go.

As much as I hate to admit it this is true. Their was a gay guy that lived up the street from my family when I was in my teens and all of us teenagers used to wonder how he always got these pretty girls. The cat was let out of the bag at a BBQ we had when my mother accidentally caught one of his “girl”friends using the bathroom. Until that point we all thought that he was a she. Does that mean I agree with them opening a drag restaurant? No but it also doesn‘t mean they don’t have a right to.

I have to agree with you Jeffrey – it is their right to construct a business model they feel will be successful (whether I agree with it or not) and it will either sell or not based on the market. It is the same reason I do not like the smoking ban – I am not a smoker but I feel businesses have the right to have smoking sections if they want them – the Market will determine if a smoke free restaurant is more lucrative than a non-smoking restaurant. It should not be the government that makes this determination – same with toys in happy meals or anything else the government tries to do ‘for our own good’. We can inform people (smoking is bad, trans fat is bad) but we then have to let the people decide for themselves.

Is a work visa for Obama’s Tranny Nanny in the near future?

This could explain a lot – President Obama had a ‘tranny nanny’ growing up in Indonesia.

Here’s a rather bizarre biographical nugget about President Obama that somehow seems to have escaped the media’s attention. According to the New York Times, Obama had a rather unusual caretaker growing up in Indonesia: His nanny was an openly gay man who, in keeping with Indonesia’s relaxed attitudes toward homosexuality, carried on an affair with a local butcher, longtime residents said. The nanny later joined a group of transvestites called Fantastic Dolls, who, like the many transvestites who remain fixtures of Jakarta’s streetscape, entertained people by dancing and playing volleyball.

Drag queens put on great shows. And many drag queens are straight. Throughout history men have been entertaining by dressing as women. In Shakespeare’s time, all characters were played by men. Remember Monty Python? I’ve got no problem with this. And if it brings in more customers for them, that’s great!

“hwua” means vomit in Thai and is a simple transliteration…get it…transliteration…

Look dude there’s Trannies here and there are Kathoeys in Thailand. The Thai variety is odd to me but seems harmless and very different than what we westerners percieve about transvestites.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kathoey

I’m an arch conservative but I see this dealio as weird but harmless to most straight families. The real sadness for me is in seeing some of the older Kathoeys around the Kingdom in shops or markets when I am there. As they age they have a very hard time. Thai culture is more accepting of their lifestyle than here but it’s still obviously a very tough life for them. One cannot help but feel for them.
