Trayvon Protesters Target Rubio for Supporting ‘Stand Your Ground’

Trayvon Protesters Target Marco Rubio for Supporting Stand Your Ground

Demonstrators looking to bring renewed attention to the Trayvon Martin shooting have begun to target national political figures who previously supported Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law at the center of the tragic case. NBC Miami reports that the student coalition group “Dream Defenders” is planning a noon protest outside the Doral office of Republican Florida Senator Marco Rubio. The political leader supported the controversial law while he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives:

“Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee Jr., who has temporarily stepped down pending the investigation into the shooting, had said there was no probable cause to arrest Zimmerman, citing the state’s controversial law which allows the use of deadly force during a confrontation.

Last week, Rubio, who supported the law while in the state House, weighed in on the Martin case and said it was premature to talk about repealing “Stand Your Ground.”

‘I don’t know what happened in this case, but ‘Stand Your Ground’ does not allow you to chase somebody and shoot them,’ he said. ‘So I’m not saying that’s what happened in this case, but if it happened in this case or in any other case, ‘Stand Your Ground’ doesn’t apply.’

Rubio called the shooting ‘a tremendous tragedy’ but said he was ‘troubled people are rushing to judgment.’

‘This so-called ‘Stand Your Ground’ law is a safe-haven for predators and murderers to kill and harm with impunity,’ Esteban Roncancio, a member of the Dream Defenders, said in a statement. “We ask Senator Rubio to retract his support for this ‘Kill at Will’ law and use his political influence to prevent any more Trayvons from being murdered.

Roncancio said his group has about 15,000 signatures on a petition asking for Rubio to withdraw his support of the law.”

“Dream Defenders” spent their Easter weekend marching 40 miles from Daytona Beach to Sanford over three days for Trayvon Martin.

“This movement doesn’t hinge on George Zimmerman or the Trayvon Martin case. It was a catalyst,” Phillip Agnew, who participated in the three-day march, told Bay News 9. “It awoke, or woke up a lot of people to what’s going on in America.”

The Hill reports that Democratic Florida Rep. Frederica Wilson has led efforts in the House to draw attention to Martin’s shooting. Along with other members of the Congressional Black Caucus, Wilson has argued that Martin’s death is the result of racial profiling on the part of Zimmerman, and that the police should arrest Zimmerman.

The black leadership wants guns banned, period, not just a retraction in the stand your ground law. They know that their threats of violence have less impact if they are contending with an armed populace.

And, of course, they don’t want their own minions armed, because they know they lack any kind of real impulse control and are constantly shooting and killing each other whenever the urge strikes them.

The biggest wild card blacks can play is to continue unabated their black on white attacks and their menacing threat of rioting. It is these leverages blacks have over the white power structure…… in order to continue to get preferential treatment and freebies……that gives them more clout than any other group. They know the white elites want only to protect their power and wealth and it is violence that is the greatest threat to hanging on to these important assets.

An armed white population is seen as a threat to the black leadership, because it minimizes their ability to threaten and utilize black riots and other violence.

It’s a sad fact that….in this new world society…..the only thing that is really respected is a willingness to create havoc and turmoil that gets any attention from the powers that be.

Please keep in mind that before Beck went on vacation he referred to Zimmerman as a “racist”. At least Rush had the brains to keep his mouth shut RE the Martin shooting, till more info was know. Living in the Tampa area , however I know Beck has a history of running his mouth and making stupid conclusions without the facts. One incident was in Tampa, at a luxury hotel where a black Baptist church convention was going on, seems a server had dropped a serving ladle into the punch bowl, then he retreived it with his FINGERS. Since the server was WHITE, the church group was screaming “RACISM” to a point where the mayor of Tampa had to be called to the scene. Beck on his local radio show chimed in that this servers behavior was typical of the southern mentality. the server, however was a recient immigrant from Eastern Europe.

Then, Stand Your Ground happened and the brave thugs mysteriously disappeared.

If the shooting was not self defense with or without the law andf Zimmerman is found guilty I’ll pull the switch. The pictures shown should be up to date for both individuals treyvon at 17, ( and no you dont need to include gold teeth photo or finger photo) and George Zimmerman’s real photos that he and the media has available that were taken in the past 2 years, and not the one from his arrest…( REALLY blaze, lost some cred here, show his arrest and treyvon at 13?)

Those opposed to “Stand your Gound” either don’t understand the law or really have a problem with being held accountable for their actions. It’s very simple, I can use deadly force to defend myself if I believe I am in danger of death or great bodily harm. Are those opposed to this worried that there will be less “easy victims”? I heard a congressperson describe Trayvon as an innocent young man “hunted down like a dog”. I’ve never heard of hunting dogs down but as more and more evidence comes to the surface, the little drug dealer, wannabee gangsta doesnt look like such a model citizen portrayed by the msm.

Actually, based on the fact that Zimmerman was following Trayvon despite being told not to, sounds like Trayvon was the one standing his ground. Seems to me if you’re stalking someone, someone who fears for his life who then turns around and slugs you to protect themselves, I’m not sure “stand your ground” applies. Certainly you can’t stalk someone and, when they turn to defend themselves, kill them without consequence.

Secondly, Zimmerman told the dispatcher to have the responding police call his cell phone. Why? Because he already knew he was going to continue following Martin. JZS.Thanks for admitting you’re a clueless media dupe. First there was no stalking, since Florida law says “stalking” is a situation that is repeated over time, a “pattern”. Second there are case law, where mutual combatants got into a fight, but as soon as one combatants decided to resort to a “forceable felony”, namely aggv. battery, {like bashing the other combatants head into the pavement}, the person on the losing end had the right to impose Florida statute 760.012{1} the use of deadly force for self defense.

      JZS

Although others have already been so kind as to inform you that you’re a moron, I will go ahead and chime in myself.

Zimmerman parked his car on Twin Trees Ln. when he called 911 and began following Trayvon Martin. He followed him east along a sidewalk that goes between some homes to Retreat View Circle which is when the 911 operator suggested he stop following, at which point Zimmerman said “Ok”. Trayvon at this point headed south to his father‘s fiance’s home. There was only about 11 houses between where Zimmerman was standing and Martin’s destination. Keep in mind that the 911 call proves that Zimmerman was observing Martin on Retreat View Circle.

After the 911 call is over, Zimmerman headed back towards his car. This is certain because the altercation took place west of where the 911 call ended. Since Trayvon had been heading south on Retreat View Circle, the only way that he could have ended up where the fight occurred is if he doubled back, and why else would he double back if not to confront Zimmerman?

I’m not claiming that Zimmerman is completely innocent, but it’s obvious to anyone who has two neurons to rub together that Zimmerman did NOT stalk and hunt down Martin.

Philip Agnew said the Martin/Zimmerman case woke up a lot of people to what’s going on in America.

I absolutely agree with him. It woke people up to the fact that there is a segment of the black community that literally hate white people. It woke some of them up to the fact that their elected officials are encouraging a race war. It woke people up to the fact that some in America will live on the remnants of the slave era until their dying breath.

It woke some people up to the fact that if the news outlets want a person guilty of a crime in America they will lie, cheat and steal to get that outcome.

Just how many more lessons is this case going to *teach* America.

The stand your ground law isn’t needed we have a natural right to defend ourselves, the second amendment to the constitution of the United States guarantees that right.

You are correct we have a right to defend ourselves. That does not mean we have a right to claim self defense in a conflict we initiate and/or escalate. Martin was the individual who’s civil rights were violated by Zimmerman. Zimmerman was not on his own property and Zimmerman followed, accosted, shot and killed a kid he outweighed by 70 lbs. While I appreciate the contemporary view of securing and answer that fits ones ideology and then backing into the question, this situation is a very clear and simple one. Zimmermand is guilty of 2nd. degree murder. He had neither a reason, provocation or right to do anything to Martin. To claim otherwise would be to support the ignorant profiling that was Zimmerman’s motivation.

@JRKook…so how do you explain the eye witness testimony that supports Zimmerman’s account, even the 911 tape supports Z account, and then there are those head wounds and broken nose????

Jrook you were not present during this incident. I feel it to be irresponsible of you to “prejudge” Zimmerman. If you care to hear his side of the story, there was an interview given last week by his father. I couldn’t tell you what his father looked like because he has to hide his identity. Ya know, because some of those who have rushed to judgmnet such as yourself have a bounty on his sons head. Dead or alive I believe was the way it was put. This is exactly the reason we have the Stand Your Ground law. Zimmerman has the right to use deadly from now on because those militants have the will and the ability to carry out their threat.

JROOK Based on an eyewitness account Zimmerman was being assaulted and with the manipulation of tapes by ‘journalists’ and the constant use of a picture of Trayvon as a small child the inference has been made, that Zimmerman murdered a child when that isn’t the case,Zimmerman killed a young man in defense of his own life.

      WTF Blaze??

Now YOU’RE using a picture of Martin when he was 12 years old? And a seven year old picture of Zimmerman? I though this site was different. How are you any different from NBC and the other media outlets using ridiculousy old photos, in order to control the narrative of this story.

Shame on the Blaze…shame on Christopher Santarelli!

Kind of like making pecan pralines, put the ingredients in the pot turn the heat up & start stirring & keep stirring. When the tempature gets just right you will have hard ball candy but in this case you will get blood in the streets & thats what SALES.

P.S…..Hey Blaze…Why are you adding to the crap with showing a squeaky clean Trayvon instead of the gold toothed, tattooed gangbanger he was at the time of the shooting…Also why are you showing a years old mug shot of Zimmerman instead of the more recent Clean cut picture of him???? You Blaze are part of the problem…

OK geniuses….If Zimmerman side of the story is correct, the stand your ground doesn’t apply because he was laying on the ground having his head bashed in – self defense. If the baiters version is correct still not an application of stand your ground but rather pursuit and murder.

Stand your ground means that if confronted and in fear of your life or limb rather than first seeking an escape route you can stand your ground to defend yourself.

Pretty simple – even a Constitutional Law Professor should be able to understand it

You’d better hope my definition of “confronted” and “afraid” is the same as yours. That’s just one of the reasons that this law was doomed to fail on the street. It was written for political expediency, they should have taken a moment and consulted one of the many fine law professors this country, and the state os Florida has produced.

Confronting somebody is not a crime and feeling fear does not prove that you are in danger. When imagined danger rather than real danger becomes the standard for self defense, then anyone can shoot anyone. The dead guy isn’t get to tell his side of the story.

@Marine25…you misunderstood my statement entirely..I am not referring to comments, of course name calling and the spoken word are not included in this law…it may be a regional thing, but where I come from, NJ, to ‘come’ at someone means to approach them with extreme intent to do harm…you TOTALLY misunderstood my statement, not your fault…hopefully I am clearer this time around…If a person is offended by someones words, and decideds to gun them down, that is idiocy…get it now? Name calling is a bogus straw man argument for what its worth…If you ‘come’ at my family or myself with clear intent to do harm, you will pay a price….You claim to be a fellow Marine, which I do not doubt, surely you understand….No better friend, No worse enemy…hope that clears it up ..Semper Fi

Wow. You travel in a solo wedge formation with m9 in hand or what dude? Pogue does seem to fit. When you break down stand your ground, are you a defense atty looking to always get the perp off or just a flat out moron that has no idea why the law was enacted in the first place? Thug wanna be, or vulture atty that never wants to have truth cloud your assessment of your client’s liquid assets?
