What’s this guy smoking? I’m hoping to buy a house in October & the lowering of America’s credit rating will drive up interest rates & cost me thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars over the life of that loan.

An economist is a mix of mathematician and psychologist. Human psychology would tell you that foreign buyers of T bills will demand more interest. It would if a person was honest and not a party hack.

You have to read the book “I Am John Gault” to read how Krugman is throughly discredited and makes up his facts. I’m reading the book right now and it compares characters from Atlas Shrugged to people in politics and academia today. The author compares Krugman to Ellsworth Toohey. Good read: http://amzn.to/qQ1JNh

Not to worry Ron. Frank, Dodd and Waters have already taken care of that for you… My home just appraised for less than 50% of the value it had five years ago. People are practically giving homes away around here (ATL suburb). A couple extra percent in interest won’t matter one bit when looking at the big picture. Thanks Barney! [End Sarcasm]

The elitists have run out of other peoples money and are in full panick. When push comes to shove the academic commies do not want to close the deal because they know the damage communism would do to their lifestyle. Their back is against the wall and the don’t have the guts to fight for the revolution.

It goes to show people the way Liberal Progressives are so arrogant believing they are the center of the universe, and that they say it doesn‘t matter because it doesn’t matter to them personally because they are above the system, they will just move their riches to another country. But, then again their also is the Liberals whom are so lost that they have no idea what they are even saying, but that if they say it then maybe they can create some false reality.

The problem is that we have a Federal Reserve who has been keeping the interest rates low artificially. While nobody ever wants them to go up, in a free market they would go up and down. To signal to the markets to save your money, rent, prices are too high(bubbles), etc. Im in the process of buying a home right now too, but I am not concerned about this loss of triple A rating. We need to stand on principles and say NO, to our government.

Actually, Krugman’s degree in economics should have taught him that Keynesian economics is idiotic.

Outside of that he relies on his socialist convictions about how things should be done.

His point and one that I think we all discount (our FICO analogies) is that it doesn’t matter because we (as reserve currency) can simply print more money. Obviously that is essentially a tax increase and for all intents and purposes a technical default. It is, however, very short sighted (as most Keynsians are). It assumes that there will be GDP growth to offset this practice and it also assumes that the rest of the world will continue to use the dollar as the reserve currency. Lastly, it assumes that sheeple will accept it. (actually, from what I see this is a safe assumption) But, the world and IMF is already moving to head Krugman and his statist friends off at the pass. The new IMF/SDR currency called the Bancor will be here shortly. THAT is when austerity kicks in. When the dollar isn’t reserve currency, printing money like we are will put us on the Zimbabwe path. As much as I loathe the thought of a global currency, it actually might be the only way to stop this train. It is so sad that we got to a point where I would write something like that. Ugghhh. Eat your peas suckas!

      Posted on August 2, 2011 at 8:55am

However, their ultimate goal is a one world, utopian, socialist society. Perhaps the people getting ready to institute a reserve currency are in league with the over-spending Americans?…the world will beg for a reserve currency that actually sustains value and they will be more than happy to provide this IMF currency. Are we missing the real goal of the devaluation of the dollar? Once there is a one-world currency, there will have to be a one world government to oversee the IMF or whoever it is that plays the role of the Fed. Once that one world government has been started…and with the power of the purse, our national sovereignty exists in name only and our rights to life, liberty, and property (pursuit of happiness) will slowly be stripped away.

We must stop overspending, we must maintain the integrity of the dollar, and we must protect the sovereignty of the States of America.

What a shame and a sham they have pulled on us. We now will march to new debt highs and go bankrupt soon enough – liberals and socialists are some of the most uneducated people I come across – read the history folks – socialism has been an abject failure everywhere it has been tried. We also fought wars against socialists – how the heck did we get to where we are now? I am sick of these people!

You get a home loan for much more than 90% of your income…if you’re considered a good credit risk,

Have you no faith in your country?

I have faith in the hard working, level-headed, rational citizens of my country. I do NOT have faith in their government, however, because they have proven time and again that they can fail at even the simplest of tasks. The only thing they are consistently good at is spending money, and they do that so well they’ve almost spent us into oblivion. At this point, even if they confiscated every penny from every person in America, including all of their private properties, they could only pay for their habit for one year. After that first year they would be back in debt again because those who produce and create jobs would no longer have the incentive to produce anything because it would be confiscated and misused. This is already beginning to happen.

Politicians are empowered by spending money. We elect these people. They do not rule over us. We appoint them to represent us. It is our responsibility to keep them under close scrutiny and prevent them from forgetting why we sent them to Washington. And if they fall under the spell of those who have made a career of spending our money rather than saving as much as they can so we can have a brighter future, or take the advice of “experts like Paul Krugman” we must remove them from office and replace them, and keep doing so.

That‘s what I’m always telling people.
Just the other day I was buying a Slurpee at 7eleven and I was telling Moosakapashi (the clerk) that Paul and his beard really need to have a debate with an Austrian economist.

It’s funny that you wrote that Ray, when I first heard that Barry won the Noble prize, I was on my way to a Home Depot, at the store I asked a few people, “did you hear, Barry won the noble” the people I asked didn’t answer and just waited for the punch line, after waiting a few seconds I had to say “no this is not a joke, he really won” all I got back was disbelief.

      It’s all a scam.

I thought they took Al Gore’s away from him when he bought his 9 million dollar mansion on the coast that he proved was going to flood because of ice melt.

I was thinking more like clueless and delusional model; in addtion to the japanese model (good point).

Keneysian economics are absolute failures; the fact is historically the model never works, and that even post WW2 West Germany prospered when they abandoned that particular model, and one man decided to loosen the system — hence came a new economic boom in West Germany for so long of a time after the war.
