Troops Boo Kathy Griffin at USO Event Over Bristol Palin Fat Joke

Like most of Kathy Griffin’s career, a recent joke about Bristol Palin’s weight during a USO event fell flat. In fact, it was so ill-received that the troops in the audience booed its delivery.

To make things worse, Griffin responded by egging the troops on and yelling, “War is hell!“ That seems grossly out of place considering the event was called ”USO’s Divas Salute to the Troops”:

I started to watch this last night but I figured it would turn into something political….and it went the way I expected….Griffin is a skank that THINKS sh‘e funny but can’t get over her liberal assed politics.   I had forgotten about that awards show incident until you brought it up. I won’t go as far as calling her names.
  
  It is sad, what happens to some people. It looks like, at every turn, she chooses the lower path, both in her personal convictions and in her professional life. I seem to remember she was able, at one point, to read a script and perform lines passably. She wasn‘t great but she wasn’t terrible.
  
  Now, she’s just a boiling sputter of bitter exclamations. She probably doesn’t know anyone from the “real world”. Those service people at the USO show may have been the first honest Americans she’s encountered in a long time. I would have chosen to quietly turn my back until she left the stage but those troops have earned the right to say anything they want when someone sent to entertain them instead chooses to offend.

  Now, this is just my take on it, but it seemed to me that she was comparing the politics between the left and the right as a war, and Bristol Palin was just a target (casualty) that was considered to be fair game. To make that comparison there, in front of people who know what real war is like, is about as tasteless as it gets.
