Trumka: Obama ‘Very Helpful’ in Wisconsin Fight

In an interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Thursday evening, AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka was confident that Democrats and their union supporters will benefit from Republican attempts to crack down on burgeoning public employee pensions and collective bargaining privileges.
Following the Wisconsin Assembly vote to pass Gov. Scott Walker’s collective bargaining crackdown, Trumka told Maddow that union workers know the president is on their side, and praised Obama for being “very, very helpful.”
“First, he called what was going on in Wisconsin the attack on working people,” Trumka said. “And then he met with the Republican governors and he said: ‘You’re wrong for villainizing public workers. They’re our neighbors, they’re our friends, they’re our nurses, they’re doctors, they’re teachers. They’re all of our friends – you shouldn’t do that.’ ”
“This is about those governors that are making war on their employees and trying to deny them a middle-class lifestyle,” he said. “Hopefully, there will be more and more support from politicians, including the president.”

Posted on March 12, 2011 at 8:06amIf the Governor and Republican Senators are recalled and the Democrats win re-election than I’d say the vast population of folks in Wisconsin deserve what they get. The majority don’t have collective bargaining, they don’t get the right to complain about working conditions, they have to pay more for benefits, so it‘ll be interesting to see what happens and where they stand on what’s been done. Thank you Governor Walker you did the right thing and if the folks don‘t think so and the recall is sucessful then you’re meant to be somewhere else.

More money in the pockets of the Union Bosses, and more for Obama’s campaign.

Posted on March 12, 2011 at 3:52amWell, what the hell he is picking on white meat after all.
Obama’s submitted short form certificates of live birth (COLB) three versions), all proven forgeries and the only official proof released for Obama’s alleged right as a citizen to be president. However, all were proven fraudulent and forgeries by the israelinsider, wnd, esternjournalism and others as seen on YOUTUBE and “The Certificate of Live Birth” COLB, Obama posted as proof has been proven to be a forged fraudulent document by Dr. Ron Polland PHD., an expert regarding document analysis, as seen on YOUTUBE. The COLB as submitted cannot be used as Prima Fascia Evidence in any court in America or any Government agency.
Chief Supreme Court Justice John Marshall cited Vattel, “born on the soil of parents who are its citizens.” as stated in the U.S. Constitution to mean on American soil, by two American citizens and not one married to another at the time with allegiance to Kenya or the United Kingdom’s sovereignty and citizen of either. The president is the only elected office the U.S Constitution states that as law and a requirement.
Proudly, Timothy Adams, the former Chief Elections Clerk in Hawaii in 2008 stated: “There is NO long form Birth Certificate for Obama recorded born in Hawaii.” in a sworn affidavit.
The new D. governor of Hawaii, Neil Abercrombie allegedly claimed to remember what happened fifty years ago and guess what? He had to retract his own words and fairy tale delusions, because he as governor could not see, say he witnessed anything to reproduce or resemble a legal Birth Certificate or COLB for Obama on record anywhere in Hawaii.
Then the governor failed to recall why Barry/Barack II appeared in Seattle Washington, as an infant (one month old (fact), by the way of and coming from where Governor Abercrombie? The Governor at five foot one sure does stand out in the anal passages of Obama’s short lived history of lies and deceptions.

Posted on March 13, 2011 at 10:53amYou are absolutely right on. It is not about the “worker”.. it is ALL about the money, and of course, the power that goes with it. Trumka and his ilk know full well that when given the CHOICE the majority of folks would not pay those dues. I hear from teachers all the time that would love to not be forced to join a union to do their job.

Posted on March 12, 2011 at 12:51amThe “President” should not have had any influence in Wisconsin at all. Since he is our “President” (certainly a Federal position) he has no legal right to attempt to affect changes in a state legislature. Wasn’t there something written a while back about powers not specifically given to the federal government become the responsibility of the states to handle. The last time I looked Wisconsin was not part of the Federal government.

Posted on March 11, 2011 at 8:11pmThis is NOT, I repeat..NOT, an attack on union members or the hardworking Americans who belong to them. What this really amounts to is an attack on the union bosses and their corrupt methods of strong arming and taking monies away from those same hardworking individuals who don’t want their money going to political parties so the union BOSSES friends can get elected and they can line their pockets. Union members are being used by these scum and have been for a very long time. All the public sector employees will be harmed further as this continues to evolve from the union BOSSES and their strong arm tactics, boycotts, and threats. Where do you think your salaries are coming from, the taxpayers, to which YOU are also one of. Sooner or later, if the union BOSSES get their way, jobs will be lost in both the public and private sectors, but the union BOSSES will continue to get theirs.

Posted on March 12, 2011 at 6:07amBeing a retired state employee from Texas, I can see both sides. The government has to keep it’s promises to the retired workers, because the retirees are not young enough or healthy enough to start over in life. We don’t have unions here, and sometimes I wish we had them. The politicians cannot be trusted with great power and money any more than the union bosses. There must be reason and accountability on both sides. In Wisconsin, it is clear that the unions had amassed too much power and influence. The workers may be good people. But at least in the case of the Teachers Union, the union has become a parasite that is destroying it’s host.

Posted on March 12, 2011 at 9:29amTrumka should respond to the way union members are being treated more harshly in Connecticut under a democrat Governor, Senate, and House, all with a super majority. Governor Walker is only taking 105 of what the Democrats in Ct. are taking from union. Labor movement is silent in Connecticut because it is democrats doing the union busting.

Posted on March 12, 2011 at 1:32pmThe most important thing we have to do is to get off our chairs and go talk to our friends who think the democratic party is a legitimate political party and work on them. You need to organize for freedom and our Constitution. This is how we are going to win this. By exposing to the American people what the Left truly represents. We can use their own tactics against them even if it means that we have to take a shower right after that. Look I have a co-worker friend, he is from China, who liked Obama. He could not understand why I disliked him so much. It took three months, but now I have this guy with a US flag on his desk and a copy of our Constitution. He quotes Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin all the time. Some say I created a monster. I for one feel good but worried. Is this something else we are going to export to China?

I actually hope that Obama wakes up to who is really around him, and realizes that they don’t share his view of America. Obama is a socialist, but I don’t think he wants the US to be destroyed, he just wants to write the future for it.

Posted on March 12, 2011 at 7:36pmLedger,
I can understand some of your concern for the union retiree, however, they are usually younger and more able to go back to work than most private citizens. We are having to postpone our retirement later and later, in order to fund retirement as young as 50 for some union workers.
Perhaps some of us feel to old to keep working as well, however, we still have to trudge in to work everyday. Why should someone have it better than the rest of us, simply because they were able to join a union?
