Trumka: Unions Saved the Senate for Dems

In a post-election message to his union members, AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka congratulates the unions on a job well done during the midterm election cycle, crediting them for Democrats maintaining majority control in the Senate.
In addition, Trumka claims the election has served up a “mandate for creating jobs and fixing the economy.” While the economy was widely reported as voters’ No. 1 concern when casting their ballot, Trumka claims the mandate is an anti-Republican one favoring liberal policies rather than conservative.
With the White House perched just over his right shoulder, Trumka also claims that President Barack Obama called him the morning after the election to personally thank him and his union members for making the difference in the 2010 elections.

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 11:55pmThese Dems are either clueless, delusional, or lying, maybe a combo of the three. They got absolutely steamrolled yet they clearly received a mandate from the voters? And since when does the random jerk who happens to be in charge of a union hack group speak for all of his members saying that “We held the senate”? He’s assuming that every one of his members is a lockstep lefty drone? Gee buddy, wonder why the economy sucks, couldn’t possibly have anything to do with you and people like you squeezing coorporations dry could it? Nah, must be Wall Street and the Fat Cat Republicans….moron…

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 11:47pmYeah, the Unions did a lot. A lot to place fraudulent votes, sned already filled out absentee ballots to voters, and tamper with voting machines. I guarantee the only reason Reid won was because SEIU messed with the votes. I’m willing to put money on that!

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 11:44pmFrom where I’m sitting, Trumka, the unions lost the House, lost numerous governorships, and lost numerous state legislatures. The union cheated and rigged the elections in key states so that they “won” the Senate. Let me be clear, Trumka, the TEA PARTY won the House, won numerous governorships, and won numerous state legislatures. End of story, nothing more to say, Dick.

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 11:42pmThe Progressives used the Blue Dogs to pass the Progressive agenda knowing the BD’s would then lose in the red districts. They didn’t care, it is their motis operandi to use and then discard them when no longer of use. The progressives and union heads are using the union members the same way, hopefully they will wake up soon. Notice the only jobs progressives are preacxhing about are mass bullet train transportation and infrastructure? The money for these jobs would have to be borrowed, we the tax payers will pay for it, the unions will get all the temporary work, unions will take 1-2 % off the top of the trillions and use that money to re-elect Democrats. To recap: we the tax payers ( 80% of which are non progressives ) would pay for borrowed money which the unions would get to re-elect Dems. Quite a racket.

So this to me is laughable, it was simply not possible for conservatives to take the senate this time around. We gave it a go in crazy town, but crazy town wanted more communists and thus got more communists. We will see what happens in a couple of years but at the very least we have the president on lock down until we can get rid of him.

Posted on November 9, 2010 at 4:34amJoe gets up at 6:00am to prepare his morning coffee. He fills his pot full of good clean drinking water because some liberal fought for minimum water quality standards. He takes his daily medication with his first swallow of coffee. His medications are safe to take because some liberal fought to insure their safety and work as advertised.
All but $10.00 of his medications are paid for by his employers medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance, now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs this day. Joe’s bacon is safe to eat because some liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.
Joe takes his morning shower reaching for his shampoo; His bottle is properly labeled with every ingredient and the amount of its contents because some liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some tree hugging liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks to the subway station for his government subsidized ride to work; it saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees. You see, some liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.
Joe begins his work day; he has a good job with excellent pay, medicals benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe’s employer pays these standards because Joe’s employer doesn’t want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed he’ll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some liberal didn’t think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.
Its noon time, Joe needs to make a Bank Deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe’s deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some liberal wanted to protect Joe’s money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the depression.
Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae underwritten Mortgage and his below market federal student loan because some stupid liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his life-time.
Joe is home from work, he plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive to dads; his car is among the safest in the world because some liberal fought for car safety standards. He arrives at his boyhood home. He was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers Home Administration because bankers didn’t want to make rural loans. The house didn’t have electric until some big government liberal stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification. (Those rural Republican’s would still be sitting in the dark)
He is happy to see his dad who is now retired. His dad lives on Social Security and his union pension because some liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn’t have to. After his visit with dad he gets back in his car for the ride home.

If you think your water is clean and your drugs are safe, well there may be no hope for you.
a poem by David Friedman
In Washington there isn’t any plan
With “feeding David” on page sixty-four;
It must be accidental that the milk man
Leaves a bottle at my door.
It must be accidental that the butcher
Has carcasses arriving at his shop
The very place where, when I need some meat,
I accidentally stop.
My life is chaos turned miraculous;
I speak a word and people understand
Although it must be gibberish since words
Are not produced by governmental plan.
Now law and order, on the other hand
The state provides us for the public good;
That‘s why there’s instant justice on demand
And safety in every neighborhood.

Posted on November 9, 2010 at 6:46amTeaBaggingPatriot, And now Joe is unemployed because his company went over seas because some Liberal said that they wanted NAFTA. Joe who lives in California is now broke because a whole bunch of liberals demand pensions that the state can no longer afford. Joe’s cousin, who lives in PA is soon going to be in the exact same position as Joe because PA is right behind California because liberals spent money in this state like college kids with their first credit card. Joe is convinced that that it is okay to make rich people pay more in taxes simply because they have more. Joe loves the fact that his union is working for him, but doesn’t realize that the same union leadership is padding their pockets with HIS union dues.
Quite Frankly, Joe is a moron who only wants to see part of the picture and refuses to look at the BIG PICTURE. Joe still believes in magic fairy’s and money growing on trees. Joe needs to open his eyes.

Posted on November 9, 2010 at 6:53am@ Tea ****** Patriot…
Is that a joke what you wrote???
If not, then please name every liberal that did those things? Don’t forget the liberal that invented the Kool-Aid that you are drinking.
All Unions are corrupt. I work for a company that has union workers and they trade workers like baseball cards. They don’t care about the actual worker all they care about is covering up the huge ponzi scheme called pensions for these workers. The only people that get rich in ponzi schemes are the ones at the top. You want to talk about all the things that liberals have done. How about the Social Security? The great “wealth distribution” or ponzi scheme given to us by the horrible FDR.
Isn’t it wonderful when liberals FORCE people to go along with their agenda or so called “compassion”? What is so compassionate about forcing people to do things? Liberals absolutely disgust me with their so- called “compassion” when you absolutely do not know what compassion is.
Do you know that if you were to let people choose what to do with their money their would be more charitable giving in this country then there already is right now? A lot of people get the attitude why should they give extra when the government already does it for them. How about instead of welfare, which is theft, families and friends take care of eachother again. Communities should be the frist place to go to when you are in need. Not to a faceless government that you have no remorse in taking their free handout. Free handouts undermine people’s self worth. Ask the black community what free handouts have done for them?
Liberals and their so-called “compassion” have been the worst thing to happen to the black community. Liberals have enslaved them again. Government has taught them that they are so down trodden that without their help the mean rich people in this world would just let them starve. :( What a lie!
Oh, Liberals how I loathe thee and your so-called superior intellect.

Posted on November 9, 2010 at 7:06amClean Water? It was Nixon who formed the EPA in 1970. That medicine Joe takes was developed and manufactured by some corporation. It had to spend millions to receive FDA approval which must be passed on to the consumer. How many life-saving drugs were never developed because of these high costs? Joe’s liberal union workers became so greedy with their demands that the industrial base of this country quickly collapsed. Try to find a steel mill in Pittsburg. That subsidized ride he takes each morning is bankrupting many cities — some systems are so inefficient and expensive that studies reveal each ride costs the taxpayer $20 – $30. A taxi would be cheaper. Worker Comp is a good thing but liberal administrators have made it too costly and open to considerable fraud and abuse. FSLIC became insolvent in 1989 after the Savings and Loan debacle. A debacle caused by the liberal, Jimmy Carter, who deregulated interest rates for the S&Ls in 1980. We all know about the Fannie Mae debacle — a situation exacerbated by the machinations of corrupt liberal politicians like Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. Fannie and Freddie will eventually cost the US taxpayer nearly a trillion dollars. Perhaps a little FHA was a good thing. Unfortunately today we have a lot of FHA as liberal politicians expanded its role far beyond the original intent. The resulting market distortions in the housing market contributed mightily to our current financial problems. That car he is driving is safe because of bipartisan efforts in Congress, working with industry, to make them safe. Dad may be living comfortably on Social Security but he could be living in opulence had he taken the approximately 10% of his lifetime earnings taken for Social Security taxes and invest it in a safe bond fund.
Liberals have made lives better, in many ways. Unfortunately, they don’t know when to stop. They think, “A little regulation and government is good, a lot of regulation and government must be great!” They ignore the law of diminishing returns and the law of unintended consequences. These laws were ignored at our peril and we are now suffering for it.

They may have saved the Senate–this time, but they did nothing for the House, and the next time out there will be a lot more Dems up for reelection in the Senate. They better start raising their money now because it will cost them twice as much as this year.
