Trump at CPAC: Ron Paul Has ‘Zero Chance’ of Winning Presidency

Will he or won’t he?
Donald Trump kept political pundits guessing during an appearance at CPAC Thursday, offering no real hint as to whether he plans to make a run for presidency in 2012. “I will decide by June,” the wealthy businessman said.
Nevertheless, Trump’s rousing remarks before the CPAC crowd had all the trapping of a potential presidential contender. “The United States is becoming a laughing stock of the world,” Trump said. “I deal with people from China. I deal with people from Mexico. They cannot believe what they are getting away with.”
America has become a “whipping post for the world,” he added.
Trump also laid claim to the some cornerstone issues of modern conservatism. “I am pro-life. Against gun control… I will fight to end Obamacare and replace it with something that makes sense to people in business and not bankrupt the country. If I decide to run, I will not be raising taxes. We will be taking in hundreds of billions of dollars from other countries that are screwing us … and we’ll rebuild our country so that we can be proud. Our country will be great again,” he said.
While he still has some important decisions to make about running, Trump didn’t hesitate to weigh in with his opinion on other potential GOP candidates.
“Ron Paul cannot get elected,” Trump said to mixed reactions. The CPAC crowd traditionally has a large contingent of vocal Paul supporters who loudly booed Trump’s assessment. “Considering the shape the United States, we need a competitive person, a highly competent person.”
“Honestly, he has just zero chance of getting elected.”
On tap for Friday: Gov. Mitch Daniels of Indiana, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Sen. John Thune of South Dakota, and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour is to speak Saturday, along with a closing keynote address from Republican Rep. Allen West of Florida.

I agree with a lot of what he says. But the truth is………in our country today………with the leftist media……..he’s not a viable candidate. Honestly, we need someone more “moderate”……..IN SOME THINGS……….that will draw the independents and even conservative dems………..OR a republican will NEVER win.
Reality has to be a part of this process, too! I wish Ron Paul would NOT run again (unfortunately, his numbers previously were not good) but offer to positively influence the field.

Posted on February 10, 2011 at 11:09pmI’ve been reading the comments………this is the first one the strikes me. I know a Romney ticket has some concerns for some people. But I think conservatives are going to have be more thoughtful and apply some critical thinking in this upcoming election vs quick to judge from a headline or two.
Bachmann is a woman of great qualities and would be a great match with Romney. (Palin would be great, too, but the media is ALREADY rabid about her! It would be soooooo distracting all of the time and control too much of the conversation which needs to be about the return to OUR America!!)
Ron Paul is “right on” on a number of things, but seriously……….he cannot be elected. If he made it somehow through the primary, the leftist media would decimate him. (Remember Alinsky’s Rules: ridicule. They would be merciless!) BUT….his voice and his valid concerns NEED to be a part of the conversation. Please Ron Paul supporters………be reasonable and helpful and not divisive. Please!
I liked earlier suggestion for Trump as Sec. of Commerce! Yes……we NEED some of his enormous business experience to turn around what has happened to our country!! But not as…..POTUS!
There are great qualities in all of the potentials………we MUST work TOGETHER and not against. I was so disappointed in the divisiveness Huckabee infused in the last Republican primary. We must do better this time. We CANNOT afford anymore of Obama. We just can’t!

But what does he know about anything else?? Diplomacy for instance. He may do dealings abroad, but that is not the same thing at all if you are trying to avert a war perhaps, you “may/may not” want to use the same tactics as you would in an artful business deal. But does he know how to do the “may not” part? He also has an ego the size of the moon and that alone is a problem when it comes to dealing with anyone that won‘t kiss his behind or he can’t fire.

Posted on February 10, 2011 at 6:17pmI agree 100% RP has the heart, ideas etc but the man is wrong for the job. Look the guy is passionate, knows what he is talking about but he is not an “alpha male”. It will never happen, he doesnt have the traits to be Pres just as BHO doesnt have the traits to be President either! We need to find someone who when they speak they command attention. I know I know BHO did exactly that but someone who can actually back up what they say (with proof unlike the boy king) and thunder away at both parties.
Pls RP followers search for someone else if you push this guy we will be stuck with this joke of a pres for a second term or someone worse! RP is bright but lacks assertiveness and does not have the leadership qualities to be Commander in Chief.
I do not see him standing up to the likes of Ahmadumbdedumb, Castro boys, Chavez or having any inkling on how to truly deal with whats going on in the middle east or with China who is practically taking over. Sure he will speak on all of this and give good argument but to sit in the big chair is a whole new ball game and sorry I dont want my butt or my families riding on him. This country already took a chance we cannot afford it again, and no offense it will be difficult for him to win the young vote as he will be seen as the “angry old white man politician”… you all know this is true!
Donald Trump is the only person who I have heard to date that would stand up to other nations! He was on Cavuto about a week or two ago and thundered away about how bad this countrys foreign relations are and how he would put his foot down. I have never heard a candidate, including RP, on any side of the fence talk like that. That is what we need, but The Donald as POTUS?? Wont happen.
Back to RP, if ppl push for RP in ‘12 it will GUARANTEE BHO’s 2nd term, there is noway he can win, the primaries of ‘08 proved that. Even with all the changes taking place and ppl waking up it still wont be enough for this guy to take on BHO who is already planning $500mil campaign.
Palins name is being thrown out there since ‘08 and now Bachmann. Then you have many wanting Christie to run, he says he wont. I think he wants to but is keeping quiet to keep the libertards off his back btwn now and then. I think he has taken notes of the abuse Palin has received and now Bachmann. I could be wrong b/c he himself has said I have to fix NJ before I even consider the country. Meanwhile the straw polls have Capt Boring Huckabee or Romney as the favor for the GOP.
Then there is the wild card of a man with legit experience who will have just as much time in congressional service as BHO named Allen West, out of Ft Lauderdale Fl. Another patriot, like Christie, who to date is telling it like it is painful or not for the people to hear.
So IMO the ticket for ‘12 could be:
Christie/ West or vice versa OR
Palin/ Christie “ ” OR
Palin/Bachman “ ” OR
Christie/ Bachmann “ ” OR
West/ Bachmann “ ” OR
West/Palin “ ”
Someone call Vegas and see what the odds are on any of these b/c Im sure Im not the only one who has thought about it!

Ron Paul is a Libertarian. While some may not agree with his stance on every issue, you can at least see why he takes a stand on those issues. He votes, every time, for the most liberty abiding choice. For those of you who unshamefully mock and exploit falsehoods about him, you are siding against liberty. I wound up voting for Huck which I now regret; however, today Ron Paul is about the only Republican in the race that I’d even consider. The only Republican with any respect for our Constitution.. The only Republican that vocally calls out the Fed which is the reason why we are in this mess today when one gets right down to it. As a matter of fact I believe all the remaining Republicans in the race support the Patriot Act and I believe each and every one of them would be a lap dog for AIPAC which would guarantee us another Middle Eastern War in Iran.. Surely you GB fans don’t want another War do you considering we are borrowing from our grandchildren to fund the current unneccessary occupations..
Yes indeed Ron Paul is the only Constitutional Conservative in the race and eventhough I‘ve always been Pro Life and I believe that is what our Founders wanted as well I’d be willing to overlook that since most Reps are Pro Life in talk only.. All I have to say and I believe that most people that read this blog are probably not swayable but give RP a chance.. Listen intently.

Since when does “Alpha male” become a criteria for president?
Ron Paul is about the only person saying anything with any substance whatsoever, and only idiots don’t pay attention, he doesn’t have to command it. People seeking substance seek his words.
Conservatives need to follow Ron Paul, not the other way around. The real Tea Party movement of our age was STARTED BY RON PAUL.
This guy Trump is a joke for not even making up his mind if he is going to run or not, and in the same breath bashing Ron Paul with no details or substance and Paul hasn’t even announced either.
Shut your Stump, Trump.
Go fix your hair.

Posted on February 11, 2011 at 1:20amChristie is a pro gun control RINO. Odumbo got in to office because we put up a RINO. I would not vote for him against Genghis Khan! NO MORE RINOS!!! Ron Paul is a good candidate as he would get many Dem votes as his standings are libertarian not GOP. The ******* masses not the leadership have MANY who like Ron Paul due to his stand on War, security, and many social issues.

Posted on February 11, 2011 at 7:08amI say Trump has the right to speak up and get angry about the state of national affairs! He is encoraging debate! This is a good thing! He is not going to run, he’s just getting people to either poop or get off the pot. He is a patriot! I find it highly entertaining! Anything that will drive the left crazier then they already are, is good for the county!

Posted on February 11, 2011 at 7:22amAs if Trump ever had a snowball’s chance in hell. The Republicants, I believe, will try their hardest to come up with another Bob Dole, Gerald Ford, or (your choice of loser here), but they will never descend to the stupidity of nominating Trump.

Posted on February 11, 2011 at 10:06amMaybe Trump would be OK. He understands business, besides, he doesn’t need the money!
What is more interesting is that many Americans are fed up with the status quo. Not long ago, Trump would not have had a chance of being President.

Posted on February 11, 2011 at 10:12amYou Libertarians need to wake up the fact that Ron Paul will never be president. Get over it. The libertarian view is respected by conservatives on domestic issues (most anyway) but not foreign affairs.
Report Post »The Libertarian posture on foreign affairs is irresponsible and unrealistic.

Posted on February 11, 2011 at 10:47amRon Paul is the only person who has the best consistency when it comes to voting for liberty and small government. If none of you can see that, then we’ll continue to fail as a nation. He really is our only hope and you’ll throw it all the way because somehow Republicans are pro-war now? Somehow the natural state of Conservatism and non-interventionalism is too CRAZY for you now?! Because a decade of war has really kept us safer. Go a head a believe that if it helps you sleep better at night.

Posted on February 11, 2011 at 11:45amSorry, I have a serious problem with your comment! Who is President is extremely important for the future of my country—something to joke about! We are witnessing the real example of that right now with someone who hasn’t a clue how to handle a difficult decision and just decides to be missing in action as Obama has been! Trump already owns half of the country and is not what I want to see in a politician–he may know how to run an empire but my country is not an empire–look at it now and the pathetic example of someone who thinks he can run our country–I put Trump in the same class–big egos don’t do well in the job of President! We’ve seen it too many times!

Posted on February 11, 2011 at 9:11pmReading some of the posts i feel it needs to be said. Many people seem to think that some how the Ron Paul supporters will be willing to compromise for a lesser candidate only to help the Republicrat party win.
Its as if after all this time still nun of you get it. There is no compromising our position. There are no terms to reach. The party ether will conform to the Libertarian sect or dew without a large portion of voters. We get who we want or you get a 3rd party vote.
You all can win with us or dew without. I suggest you stop throwing your vote away on people like Mcnugget or Trump and start voting like people with the capacity for abstract thought.

The Libertarian position on foreign affairs is very responsible.
Stop wasting our damn money on wars based on the false pretense of terror when our government is perpatratiing false-flag attacks on us. Awfully convenient that Napolitano comes out the next day after the Patriot Act extension is voted down, and claims our terror threat is now “heightened”.
Yea I bet, Big Thick Sister wants to cause another false-flag attack, by some imbecile who is spoon-fed fake bombs by the feds.
Stop getting involved in other countries’ civil wars.
Stop blowing up countries and then taxing the American people to rebuild them.
Stop lending us into unpayable debt by financing wars while we can’t afford them, all based on the “risk” of the problems coming here, promulgated by the same Federal agencies who’re working hand in hand with “terrorists” (CIA ASSETS LIKE BIN LADIN IS) to commit false-flag terro attacks to take more and more of our freedoms away.
