Trump Calls Out NBC Host in Heated Interview: ‘You Gotta Tell the Truth, Chuck!’

Whether through sound bites or live audio, “The Donald” has been making the rounds on all the news talk shows this morning in response to GOP presidential candidates Ron Paul and Jon Huntsman electing to skip the debate that Donald Trump will moderate on December 27. It’s been a war of words to say the least.
(Related: Trump calls Ron Paul a “joke”)
During his second NBC interview of the morning, Trump got heated with “Daily Rundown” host Chuck Todd, at one point saying, “I didn’t call you, you called me.” That was in response to Todd saying that Trump wanted to come on to the show to respond to a poll, which Trump said was “false.”
But Trump wasn’t done there. He told Todd how he could improve his ratings, made a curious comment about Jon Huntsman’s religion, and took some shots at former President George W. Bush after his top advisor Karl Rove also laughed at the idea of Trump holding any sway in the GOP.
“Karl Rove gave us George Bush and George Bush crashed and burned and because of that we have Obama,” Trump told Todd. “The Republicans need to get rid of Karl Rove and they need fresh blood because Karl Rove is going to lead them into doom.”
You can watch it all below:
By the way, Rove told “Fox and Friends” Monday that the RNC Chair should encourage all Republicans to skip the debate, which is moderated by a man who Rove believes still may run for President as an independent:
And to think, Paul’s campaign was worried an event hosted by Trump may turn into a “circus-like atmosphere.”
As reported by The Blaze over the weekend, Paul and Huntsman both announced that they planned to skip Newsmax’s December 27th debate hosted by, as Paul puts it, “reality television personality” Donald Trump. On CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday morning, Paul followed up on his campaign’s statement that the event was “beneath the office of the Presidency:”
“Yeah, I don’t quite understand it. I don’t understand the marching to his office. I mean I didn’t know that he had an ability to lay on hands, you know, and anoint people.”
Former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman announced Saturday that he too would skip Trump’s event, telling reporters in South Carolina “I’m not going to journey to New York City to meet with Don Trump,” and telling Fox News Monday morning “I’m not going to kiss his ring and I’m not going to kiss any other part of his anatomy.”
Within a few hours of Paul’s appearance, Trump quickly chirped back through the New York Daily News:
“‘Few people take Ron Paul seriously and many of his views and presentation make him a clown-like candidate,’ Trump said in a statement to the Daily News.
‘I am glad he and Jon Huntsman, who has inconsequential poll numbers or a chance of winning, will not be attending the debate and wasting the time of the viewers,’ Trump said.”
Less than 24 hours later, Trump appeared on NBC’s Today Show immediately taking questions about Paul’s comment, as well as comments from influential conservative Washington Post columnist George Will:

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 2:14pmYes and he also hit the nail on the head regarding Paul – a candidate who has no significant accomplishments but who thinks he can somehow run the country with all his funny talk but absolutely no walk. It is refreshing that the Paulbutz are finally realizing he is unelectable and are doing less trashing of the electable candidates.

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 2:19pmI agree that the debate should be skipped. I like Trump and agree with some of what he has to say, but the bottom line is he is one of the BIGGEST flip floppers of them all when you look into his history. He needs to stick to what he knows and keep rolling in the dough.

Bankruptcy’s and Divorces galore, walking around like he is a king. Give me a break. I am not rich like him, but I am rich. Posted on December 5, 2011 at 4:35pmI too have contacted Roger Ailes at Fox pressing the get the fat party boss Rove off the network.
This man is responsible for Bush immigration and war policies both of which caused the Republicans to lose both chambers of Congress and allowed the anti-white community organizer into the Oval Office.
As Dana Roherbacker said about Bush, “He single-handedly nearly destroyed the Republican party.” (But not without Karl Rove’s input.)
I’m amazed that so few us were able to see that at the time it was occurring and just after the mid-term losses in Congress.

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 1:49pmAgree completely. At best the “news media” debates are worthless and at worst they promote the least able candidates. I found the recent Huckabee hosted debate to be by far the best. The three state attorneys asked the questions I wanted to hear answers to. And it revealed Gingrich to be as feared, one who thinks under his leadership the federal government can solve our problems, just as every other progressive president thought. I was very impressed with Perry (Santorum too) who clearly understood what must be done to the federal government, get rid of who departments and reduce the government’s involvement to the bare minimum required by the Constitution.

The candidates should realize much of their appearances in debates are somewhat out of their control. If they don’t show up, the media will blast them for taking the democratic process lightly. When they do show up, the liberal media tries to torpedo them.
Trump may be a press hound, but he has a lot more star power than media moderators.
Like it or not, candidates need national face time to get the public to know, like, and trust them. With Trump as the ringmaster, it may seem like a circus, but you’ll get viewers to see the show.

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 1:10pmAbout the only thing Trump is good at is bankruptcy and “lashing out.”
———————-
As Ron Paul says: “You have two choices. Either you can work your way out of this, or you wait until it collapses and you have to rebuild it.”
A primary vote for either Romney or Gingrich is a vote for waiting, just as surely as a vote for Obama in 2008 was. Neither Gingrich nor Romney has even the faintest grasp of the nature or the extent of the problems presently facing the nation. Neither Gingrich nor Romney will do anything in office, anything at all, to address these problems. They will instead do precisely as various presidents named Bush, Obama and Clinton have done in attempting to buy more time, and thereby exacerbating the situation when no more time can be bought.
Republicans now have two choices. They can either put forward Ron Paul as a candidate who is committed to address the financial and economic problems facing the nation, or they can put forward a candidate who will do little more than ensure Republicans bear the blame for the economic collapse of the country.

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 1:11pmI agree. The 7 (6? Not Huntsman?) dwarfs are meeting with him to make sure he won’t run 3rd party against him. I wonder what’s in it for Trump? Where’s the prize for the carnival barker?

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 1:10pmI agree. Any time someone attacks a 77 year old gentleman, much less one who is famous for his incorruptable integrity, it’s obvious the attacker is at fault.
Trump’s ego is bruised by the good Doctor Paul not bowing and scraping. But, to be honest, after Trump’s attack at CPAC 2011 (where Paul won the straw poll, ironically), and after Trump has all but endorsed Romney, why would Ron Paul waste his time at the Trump debate?
Paul claimed it was going to be a circuis. Trump is turning it into exactly that.

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 1:15pmWell I wouldn’t trust Trump in politics, you remember the last rich man that jumped in as a third party candidate and the democrat Bill Clinton won that election with less then 50% on the vote. Poss Perot just the same as elected Bill Clinton, was that his intentions for profit? Did Slick Willie fundamentally change our Constitution, he sure did, he gave us DADT which lead to gays in the military, he tried to give us Hillary care which is the same as Obama care, the only thing that stopped him was he had a GOP congress to stop him. It doesn’t take a degree in political science to figure these things out folks! Bill Clinton and the Godless democrat have set us up for the kill! He is still at work, he is as evil as Obama, his wife too!

Posted on December 5, 2011 at 1:18pmSorry, but that very line of thinking is what got our Country in the pickle it’s in. Stop being fooled by the republican/democrat lie. They are the same party. By stating that you will vote for anybody but Obama, especially if he or she has an R next to their name, shows that you have no clue about the gravity of your vote. When you place a vote for one big government progressive over another, just because they have an R and not a D, means you don’t care about Liberty and Freedom, you only care that your “side” wins the election. If Newt or Romney are elected, it will not change anything for this Country. Your Liberty will not be restored, in fact, if it’s Newt especially, you will lose even more of what little you have left. He did state afterall he wanted the Patriot Act made stronger. He’s just a globalist pig who sold his soul to the Bilderbergh group. Jenny, the reason something seems off to you about Trump is because he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Just do a little research into his campaign donations, you won’t be listening to him again. Anybody that looks up to that guy and claims to be for Liberty is a liar.
