Trust Is a Two-Way Street: Beck Gives What Could Be The Most Powerful Oval Office Speech Yet

On Wednesday evening, Glenn Beck delivered what could be the most powerful Oval Office speech yet, detailing why America has a serious “trust deficit.”

Americans, according to Beck, no longer trust their country’s sacred institutions such as Congress, the White House, and the Supreme Court. Following suit are the media, and of course, the banks. He wondered how all of these institutions could fail us, and in such a measurable way.

Beck also noted that the solution is not that simple, because even if its leaders were to start telling the truth, we as a nation are supposed to be suspicious of big institutions and big government — that is how the Founding Fathers intended it.

After being exploited, the Founders “chose revolution,” Beck reminded.

They trusted “the individual” and gave the power to the individual.

With this in mind, the Founders wrote the Constitution, knowing all the while that trust in any institution can only lead to dependency. Trust, according to Beck, is a “two-way street” and it’s now time to make America’s institutions earn it.

Watch Beck deliver his profound message from the Oval Office below. Another thought-provoking segment on the lasting principles that need to be restored follows below.

We’ve lost our faith in institutions, “but we still have faith in our neighbors and hard-working Americans”:

J S Z….You mock Glenn for his Oval Office speech. You call him an imposter. America has a “pretender-in-chief” who is nothing more than a narcissistic, blood sucking, megalomanical, community organizer. His presidency is nothing more than graffiti on the walls of American History. He represents those “citizens” who want a surrogate parent to take care of them. These liberal/progressive freeloaders do not want to take care for their lives. All they want is to suck on a teat on the government sow.

Obama thinks that he is the Messiah, not Glenn Beck. Obama’s presidency has been nothing but political theater…cheap, insiginificant, tawdry theater!

i think you have to have a law degree to be pres. but I agree, degree or not, we need common sense returned to this society. oh and while we’re at iot, return the gold standard (it provided 100 year stability), one parent at home, make vulgarities in public (rap) illegal, provide same dress code for all kids in public schools, punish bullyism , and mostly we need to get the ownership of BOTH parties out of the hands of central banks, watch these 4 parts sometime, and pass it around, very good piece.

“i think you have to have a law degree to be pres.” Gawd, what complete ignorance people have about their own Constitution! No wonder the whole government pulls the wool over us. The only requirements are:

“No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States,” and
“The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and *all executive* and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”

There is no excuse for the ignorance. I found this after a 1 minute Google search, the another minute for a text search of “president.” Ignorance and laziness.

This is what I would like to see Beck say:
Here are just a few of the things I miss since America entered the golden age of Hope and Change in January 2009.
    o Optimism
o Going for minutes, hours, even days, without worrying about what weird insanity the government is dreaming up next
    o Having money
    o The Border Patrol
o Looking up at the moon and thinking, “America – we own space!”
o Having a president whose background isn’t more closely guarded than the formula for Coke
o Going on vacation without the TSA auditioning me for “Stella Does Dallas”
    o Jobs
o Not feeling like I have to whisper, if I say something that’s not completely, 100% complimentary about our president
o Listening to the latest rant against Israel at the UN, without wondering if it’s coming from the American Ambassador
    o Feeling protected
o Having a president who doesn’t want to fundamentally transform me
o Getting a doctor’s appointment right away and not thinking, “That was nice while it lasted.”
o Having a president who would never, ever bow to the Saudi king, the Chinese premier, the Japanese prime minister and the mayor of Tampa
o Gazing up at the sky and not wondering if that’s a bird or a drone
o Snacking on whatever I want, while the First Lady remains calm and indifferent
o Having a president who thinks it would be unimaginably crazy to bring the 9/11 conspirators to New York for a civil trial

You all talk bad about Obama and his Chicago style methods, what about Mitt Romneys? http://www.buzzfeed.com/rosiegray/romney-struggles-to-lock-down-rowdy-delegates
All of this is against federal law:

No person, whether acting under color of law or otherwise, shall intimidate, threaten, coerce, or attempt to intimidate, threaten, or coerce any other person for the purpose of interfering with the right of such other person to vote or to vote as he may choose, or of causing such other person to vote for, or not to vote for, any candidate for the office of President, Vice President, presidential elector, Member of the Senate, or Member of the House of Representatives, Delegates or Commissioners from the Territories or possessions, at any general, special, or primary election held solely or in part for the purpose of selecting or electing any such candidate.

Well, I don’t know about the profound revelations. Whatever.

Seriously though folks, isn’t this megalomaniacal? It sort of reminds me of the De Niro/Scorsese film “The King of Comedy” where the crazy guy pretends he is a talk show host in his basement, complete with a Johnny Carson set and imaginary guests.

An AM radio host pretending he’s the President of the United States, complete with an Oval Office set? And he does it seriously, not as a Saturday Night Live skit. He actually pretends like he’s President and giving a speech to the nation.

As an outsider I’d say he has a mental disorder. But I know that people who view him as the next coming of Christ think this kind of behavior, pretending you are the President of the United States speaking to the nation is normal.

But who is to say what normal?

You some how think that you can disparage someones success by calling them an AM radio host.

Not sure why you continually emphasize the “AM” thing, but I digress.

I have always countered your assertions by pointing out that Rush is on quite a few FM stations now, and it is becoming more all the time.

The same is true for Glenn.

Take a look at my link here……..scroll through all 16 pages, and take note of how many of the stations are on the FM band.

Glenn knows full well that we are too far down the road to tyranny for any speech (in a studio or in the Oval Office) to really matter. The two party system is a giant hoax (think WWE) and Americans by and large are wholly committed to the lie of the false left right paradigm. Glenn is nothing more than a highly payed shill, an actor who has been handed a script, just like BHO! It’s all theatre folks, the only difference between the Republicans and the Democrats is the rhetoric (different scripts, same ending!). How long will you and your family stay committed to the lie?

I have to say that I liked Glenns speech very much. Why did I like his speech? He sounded like he is for Ron Paul. Ron Paul is the POTUS that would give a speech from the oval office talking about change, back to the Constitutional principles that made our country great, back to trust in governmment to protect your life, liberty in order to pursue happiness. That is what Ron Paul wants. Just what Glenn Beck said. Ron Paul has also said in order to get back to the Constitution, it will take more than just one leader, or one Congress to make it happen. It will take a mindset change of the people to acomplish such a great feat.
Do what Glenn has said here. Do not trust anyone, do your own homework. Quit being lazy, stop listening to the media, stop listening to people who post on here, like myself. Take what I post and research it yourself. I will not talk about anything on here that I have not researched myself. Duplicate what I do and research. Too many on here post things that they just pick up from others, remember when you were a kid and the teacher told you to tell the person behind you what they told you and so on til the last kid? It always comes out different. Research yourself.Glenn is talking about the same that Paul has said. Start listening with ears wide open.

Not really, Octavian Caesar did the same thing when he took over Rome.

If you want America back at this point it will be by humbling ourselves, honoring God in prayer and worship, repenting of our sins as a nation and individually, and voting for moral leaders. Otherwise I await the Kingdom of heaven. Many unbelievers, billions, will perish before the Kingdom of God comes and all unbelievers will face damnation. The Bible says men will wish to die and hide in caves as all buildings will be destroyed by war, earthquakes, natural disasters, and falling stars. Not a pleasant thought unless you are waiting as a believer.

      @BROTHER WINSTON SMITH

I agree. Beck and most people on The Blaze have an obvious right wing agenda. The truth lives here my bum. He can‘t break away from the politics of it all until he renounces his ’right – left’ rhetoric and starts talking seriously about principles. It’s easy to fool most people on the internet, and sadly Americans are more easily fooled than most.

      Correct, Prosecute_Constitutional_Treason_In_Washington.
This is the faith THAT FREES ME TO SUPPORT CONSERVATISM NO MATTER THE COST. It’s FAITH. Many other men talk of faith (Glenn Beck) BUT FAITH CAN NOWHERE BE FOUND IN THEIR DEEDS. Only “better evils.”

It is the Lord’s nation. He will raise who he wishes and lower who he wishes. I doubt “lesser evil” FAITHLESS COWARDICE will move the Lord toward mercy for His ailing nation.

Santorum is not a leftist. He’s a Catholic and an American. Catholics, true Cathlolics are right of center, not left, not far right, but right of center. That’s the way I see him.

HistoryGuy, You are right that no one person, even POTUS could accomplish such a feat on his own. We need the people to start being responsible for themselves, just as Glenn said in this speech, and Ron Paul has said on many occasions or we will never save our Republic. I had lost faith in Glenn Beck, but this speech shows me that deep inside him, lives a Libertarian at heart. He just needs to get a grip on himself and understand that he is a Conservative Libertarian. I believe he has lost his way somewhat, but I believe he has hope. I sure hope so.

Brother Winston, I agree with the things you post, but I hope you can see that Glenn did say things right here, even if maybe he did not realize it. He sounded like a Ron Paul supporter, just wish he could get around to saying so.

Comrades it was indeed a wonderful speech. Only it is not a speech any of our wonderful politicians would ever even think about making.
What is truth? According to Dr. Goebbels truth was what he said it was.
I’ll bet that Dear Leader feels the same way!

Christians should consider their own land. Their Kingdom to come. The Kingdom of Heaven. The flag of the cross. Our flag is the Christian flag. Jesus Christ is King of Kings. We are High Priests. We are Sons of God. We are strangers in America. We are foreigners. We are aliens. We are ambassadors to America. If America falls to satan it won’t be the end for us. We still have our home in heaven. We live in a vile, wicked, evil world where satan reigns by God’s tolerance.
Plant a Christian flag in front of your house. Stand for Christ today.
