‘Truther’ TV Crew Left Bloodied in Video Confrontation With Cops Guarding Obama

A government “truther” public access TV crew trying to catch a glimpse of president Obama on vacation in Hawaii caught something else on video: police stalking them, confronting them, and then bashing their camera. That last act led to a bloodied finger.

The crew, part of the show “We Are Change Hawaii,” initially drove up to the president’s residence but was turned away and left without incident. They kept their camera rolling, however, and filmed vehicle searches as they were driving around. At a stoplight, the crew noticed they were being followed, and after pulling into a gas station, they were instantly surrounded by multiple officers and police vehicles.

KITV reports what happened next:

At this point Sherri Kane, who describes herself as an investigative journalist, looked into the camera and said, “Behind us we have the Secret Service following us now so this is kind of exciting.”

Exciting turned to scary after they pulled into a gas station. On their video, a police officer approached the car and said, “Stay in the car. Put that camera off of me.”

Producer Sativa Jones can be heard saying “OK.”

The women said police vehicles and up to five officers surrounded the car, demanded IDs and registration without explanation. Then without warning an officer reached into the car and grabbed Jones’ camera.

“He grabbed it out of my hand and then he slammed it on top of the car,” Jones said. She said the camera was damaged – the automatic lens cover no longer worked.

Jones’ fingers were gashed by the sharp edge on the camera mount. She said the officer appeared shaken by what he’d done and courteously showed her how to complain, writing his name and badge number on a card with contact information for the Honolulu Police Commission.

Kane said other officers on the scene would not let them make a criminal complaint against the officer who grabbed the camera.

“What went down was something that should not happen here in the United States of America,” Kane told KITV. “You have all of these police officers that could be looking at legitimate or people who are really trying to harm the president. Instead, you have so many of them on us.”

According to one Hawaiian blogger, the woman whose finger was cut and the man seen in the pink shirt are former aides to a former local councilwoman. The blogger even posted the following video appearing to show the pink-shirted man, RJ Hampton (who KITV calls “BJ”), singing an Obama jingle:

The TV program’s website shows the group is a somewhat new age environmentalist organization with “truther” undertones. Originally started in New York City in response to 9/11, We Are Change is composed of about 200 national chapters. The “change,” the site says, stands for “Coalition for Halting the Agenda of the Nefarious Global Elite,” and the group models itself after Ghandi’s peaceful resistance while looking for “answers to the questions that the powers-at-be refused to answer [regarding 9/11].” Parts of their website demand “9/11 truth.”

“[W]e will never stop resisting your tyranny until every right guaranteed to us in the Constitution of the United States is granted to not only all Americans, but every single person on planet Earth,” the group’s site says. “These are inalienable rights guaranteed to every man, woman and child, and no one can ever take them away!”

A recent episode of “We Are Change Hawaii” shows Hampton hosting the show alongside Kane (both shown in the news video). Hampton is referred to as the “Unofficial Boss of the Universe”:

    The truth is this: once Americans allowed Barack Obama to be elected president, it was a signal to all the weirdos all over the country, and the world, that something BIG was very wrong in America. Part of that something is that very few people see Obama as any kind of a leader, and more see him as an enemy of the country, allowing them a free license to do all kinds of weird things. It is so apparent to so many that Obama himself is out to bring down the United States, that all kinds of weirdos are jumping on to that bandwagon.

      It indeed could have been the local police making the first moves in surrounding the vehicle instead of the secret service; and only would take a single call of suspicious activity or motion in said vehicle for the police and POTUS protective service to swing into overtime – remember, there already had been one close call when a robber almost accidently got to the area where the president was staying at.

      They may have feared it to have been a dry run, and clamped security even tighter in the event of an actual or attempted attack on the POTUS.

      Exactly right. What possible danger could a President, cop, or Secret Service Agent be in from being filmed, such that it would justify the threat of force if someone didn’t give them their camera?

      The cops and Secret Service certainly put their lives on the line, and there are actual physical acts or positioning that someone can do that would justify forcing someone to move or lay down – but being filmed is not one of them.

      There is a limit to the circumstances under which the cops and Secret Service may use force against us, and this guy crossed the line with his demand that the lady give up her camera. These are the kinds of actions by government that moved the Founders to write the Second Amendment, which is a part of that document they swore an oath to defend, called the Constitution.

      There is a limit to their authority. They know it. We know it. They need to stop abusing their authority, or else.

      What happend here is becoming prevelent across the country. The police are starting to act more like Gestapo agents than police. Most cities now have their own paramilitary units that in most instances work on the fringe of the law. They work mainly through fear and intitmidation just like the Gestapo.

      I don’t get this. They approached where B.O. was, they were asked to leave, they did so. They were filming other vehicles, presumbably on the outside of the perimeter being searched. Then they were confronted by the police at a gas station?????

      Interestingly enough, when the officer that injuried the videographer realized what he’d done, he gave her a business card and wrote his name and badge number on it????? The injury was probably accidental, but one wonders whether they were trying to draw attention to their orders by doing this.

      Did teams of other officers follow other vehicles?? All vehicles???

      Many questions. I hope this story doesn’t fade into the distance. I agree with another poster that it sounds like intimidation.

      They were acting suspicious. You don’t drive up to the President thinking you can just walk in. I work with people who aren’t even on the level of the President, and all visits are planned. Then as they were leaving, they were video taping security procedures, and vehicles that were already searched. I’m not surprised that they were followed and stopped.

      I also would like to see the whole video, because they edited only when the cop took the camera, not the questioning that was going on. I had a cop come up to me while I was in my car parked on private property and ask for my info. I gave him my license and car info, as there was no need to argue. He then asked me to turn off my cell phone which I was talking on when he had come up to my window. I politely told him no, that I was on the phone with my girlfriend, and it was why I wasn’t driving down the road. We were both polite, and when he was at the window asking me questions I answered, and when he returned to the police car, I continued the conversation with my girlfriend. You usually have to do something to provoke a reaction like that. Most cops are good people, but there are a few bad ones, remember most cops become cops because they want to help people.

      those laws were enacted, you had a right to privacy inside of your car was like your home
      and you owned your body, nobody could take your blood, you were innocent until proven guilty
      but between the DUI laws and seat belt laws the Govt has established as past practice
      that they control your body, and you have no rights while in a vehicle no search warrants
      nothing and The Patriot Act took care of any other RIGHTS you may have had left.
      Some of us have seen this for many years and some are waking up now, but we must
      stand together and stop demanding laws to steal our own rights because we are AFRAID !

      Most officers indeed are good and very hard working in doing their jobs. As I have not heard much on this story other than what was shown and listed here, for now I will reserve judgment.

      However, if anyone in the administration has ordered this kind of response, they need to be held to the extent the law allows for at least conspiracy.

      Knowingly or unknowingly this is the change we voted for. It is not about individual incidents such as this, it is about a change in attitude. This attitude is projected by Obama and is reflected by the people who do his bidding.

      Cant you see that this is a hoax? George Bush is behind this group. He is making them do these fake videos to make Barak Obama look bad and get more people to buy his book. After flying all three planes into the buildings with his special military plane crash survival suit made in Area 51 he then set out to create groups that would claim that 9/11 was an inside job. People would then think they were crazy and believe him and buy more of his books so he could afford to get elected to the UN as president of the world.

      The News Crew was no threat to Obama’s security or safety. The confortation took place at a gas station and not on government property or even near it. Such police action is unacceptable in a free society. Unfotunately, this is only the beginning of Obama’s police state tactics. As more people get fed up with his government, more gestapo action will be used and no protest will be tolerated. The office of the POTUS doesn‘t have the right to impose martial law at it’s whim. I’m really beginning to dislike this guy and everything about him and those around him.

      Their moto “we are free” must be in question after this incident. Does this public access channel have equal time for what appears to be some unnatural love fest for Obama & his progressive leftist BS? As for the flu shots, they just jumped on the band wagon, this has been known throughout the med field for years. I stopped getting flu shots years ago. You would to if you check the effect on protecting you from a flu. The stats are quite poor.
