Over the past decade, airport security has become even more cumbersome and intrusive. New protocols have led to bizarre sights and exploits — like babies and the elderly being excessively patted down — all in the name of precaution. While some oppose these tactics, others claim they are needed to ensure Americans’ safety in the air. Regardless of where you stand, the story you’re about to read about a young child weeping after reportedly being accused of carrying a gun will likely tug on your heartstrings.

The incident unfolded in Wichita, Kansas, after a four-year-old girl named Isabella was allegedly humiliated by TSA agents after she hugged her grandmother after passing through security. Following the brief embrace, the Daily Mail reports that the girl was dubbed a “high security threat” and agents purportedly said they would shut down the airport if she could not be calmed down (naturally, the little girl became upset when officials began prodding her).

See, the family was in Kansas for a wedding and they were traveling home to Montana. After Isabella’s grandmother triggered an alarm on the scanners, she was detained by agents to be checked further. Isabella, who had already gone through security with her mother, Michelle Brademeyer, and her sibling, ran back through to hug her grandmother.

While the two made only brief contact, Brademeyer claims that the agents shouted at the young girl and demanded that she be frisked too. Isabella’s mother shared the alleged story on Facebook, writing, “It was implied, several times, that my mother, in their brief two-second embrace, had passed a handgun to my daughter.”

Isabella, who was horrified by the incident, allegedly tried to run away from the TSA agents, which only intensified the situation. She was inevitably taken to a side room where she was patted down, despite incessant tears and a refusal to let a TSA official touch her. The agent, who couldn’t control the child, apparently called for backup saying, “The suspect is not cooperating.”

“They treated my daughter no better than if she had been a terrorist,” the angry mother wrote on the social media platform. “I feel compelled to share this story in the hope that no other child will have to share in this experience.”

The TSA has apparently doubled-down and defended its actions, with a spokesperson saying that the proper procedures were followed in handling the incident. When the Consumerist reached out to the TSA for comment, the essential details of the story were confirmed. Here’s how officials responded:

TSA has recently implemented modified screening procedures of children 12 and under that further reduce — though not eliminate — the need for a physical pat-down for children. In this case, however, the child had completed screening but had contact with another member of her family who had not completed the screening process. TSA has reviewed the incident and determined that our officers followed proper current screening procedures in conducting a modified pat-down on the child.

  If that were my daughter my parental instincts would have kicked in. I am sorry, but these TSA agents are not “for our protection” they are against our freedom.
  
  The more I think about these occurrences as they get worse and worse…they want us to retaliate. I so badly want to. However, we need to PRAY against EVIL that is running rampant in this country. We are cornered into a “lose – lose” situation. We do nothing and they takeover, we retaliate and they take over. Read 2 Chronicles 7:14 people… we need top AGREE to pray as one country. I suggest you get Churches, friends and family to agree and pray. I am convinced God is the only way out of this mess. He will guide and direct every one of us.

  I flew out of Vegas a few weeks ago after a work conference. I went through security no problem. Realizing that I was very early for my flight, I decided to leave the airport and go across the street for some lunch. When I went back through security, for the second time, I was pulled aside and told that they have detected something in my hair. The very large black female agent snapped on some rubber gloves and started digging through my hair. I believe it was a racial thing because I am a blonde blue eyed female. Apparently they just make up random crap so they can shake you down.

  I’ve used this Airport a good bit while working out of town in Enid, OK….the TSA Agent’s never gave me a hassle….I’m a right wing conservative but I have to ask the question. Where were the parents at while she bolted for Grandma? Rules are for everyone….even 4 year old’s. Now if what happened in the piece is factual then the TSA over reacted….but I know a TSA agent…they have rules and protocals to follow no mater what. If they do not follow them they themselves will be dismissed or dropped down the chain and have to go back to training. Rememeber the agents arn’t the ones making these idiotic rules…it’s our goverment that is doing that.

  Think about it, who do you see getting searched?
  Grannys in wheelchairs, blind guys with guide dogs, and 18 yr. old Swedish girls.

  Obama would have commented if the young girl was black… Guaranteed! Then the “Just-us” brothers Al & Jesse would be marching on the Airport demanding racial “Justus”. Of course Al & Jesse would be shaking some green from the machine in the process.

  The real irony is that we already have “a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as our military, AND it’s provided for in the Constitution. It’s called the Milita, and (at least I feel) if you’re over 18 and of sound mind and body, you’re already a member! Really, other than voting (and later paying taxes), it’s membership is the only real obligation of being a citizen.

Why good honest American citizines such as myself have stopped flying. We are planning a family trip this summer and rather than pay thousands of dollars to be humiliated or have our naked body pictures added to some homeland security database we are renting a 12 passanger van and driving.

The “Nurse Ratched” flight attendants with the demagog complexes so quick to identify you as an “unruly” passenger and calls the feds or the flipped-out pilots running down the isle while the plane sits on the tarmac for 12 hours because “a gate isn’t available;” there are SO many reasons not to fly in these cattle cars of the air…

It feels so helpless to know that this is what we are subject to now. I refuse to fly ever again. I’d rather take my chances than to have this invasive and fascist procedure applied before I board a plane.

Enough is past enough with these TSA brutes; shut them down and have them broken up and fired across the board; they have way too much authority and power as it is. I imagine if the agent had a firearm they would just have opened up on the girl and everyone else on the sake of a ‘probable terror event.’

  No person with a trace of human decency would terrorize children like this yet they are doing it many times every single day all around the country. I also find it interesting in the large number of vids I have seen for a few years now it is never a black or muslim person being terrorized. The same DOJ who will not go after black citizens no matter how many felonies they commit I have no doubt has trained the TSA to only go after other races for the sake of politics and the race baiting agenda our government is now showing in plain sight for all to see.

There’s no doubt that this flower girl presented a clear and present danger to the flying public. Just look at those cold, steely, emotionless eyes. Just a blank stare. I’m sure grandma had on a burka and had the same cold steely stare which added to the tsa agents highly trained reasonable suspension.

No way would a tsa agent have put a hand on my child after chasing her around while she cried out for me. Never would have happened!

When a nobody finally gets a little power they tend to become bullys. I think that is what has happened to the TSA agents.
Losers all, they have found an area where they can wear a uniform and flaunt their power over everyone who comes through their line whether adult or child.
They don’t have to use common sense because DHS does not want anyone who can think for themselves but will follow the company line.

These are actually very dangerous people setting a very dangerous preceedent for future use.

It‘s the same reason lawyers on both sides will automatically reject you from jury selection if you’re an educated professional of any type, or just well-educated period: they don’t want people trained to think critically or for themselves, because they’re much more difficult to manipulate.
  It seems counter-intuitive, you would think it would be the opposite. I’ve been called for jury duty once, and the first question I was asked was about my education and occupation. As soon as I answered that I had a bachelors degree and was a staff member of a local University, I was immediately dismissed with no further consideration.

  There is no way that I will get on public transportation when TSA begins this and my children won’t be either. I don’t trust the TSA. The woman look like men and the men look like perverts. Anyone who thinks it’s okay to treat a child like this, has some serious problems. Following the orders of others without thinking about what they are being asked to do is a huge problem in our country. However, that is what our government schools have done to our children, created Sheople.
