TSA Forced to Lock Down Newark Terminal After Woman Who Reportedly Tested Positive for Explosives Boards Flight

At this point, many Americans find the TSA to be a needlessly invasive and alarmingly inefficient force for airline security.
Over the weekend, that impression was confirmed after the taxpayer-funded government security force let a woman who tested positive for explosive residue board a plane from Newark, New Jersey to Cleveland, Ohio, according to reports.

NJ.com has more information:
Terminal C at Newark Liberty International Airport was locked down for three hours Sunday, creating a huge screening backlog that forced the cancellation or delay of more than 165 flights…

Local officials of the Transportation Security Administration eventually concluded the woman [who prematurely left the security screening] had boarded a United Airlines flight to Cleveland. But the security agency only arrived at its conclusion after the flight had landed in Cleveland at 10:45 a.m., and authorities were never able to talk to the woman or identify her by name. [Emphasis added]
Fox 5 has video of the scene, and interviews with the passengers. Many had to be re-booked on flights that didn’t leave for several days:

But that wasn’t the only security incident in Newark on Sunday.
NJ.com adds:
At 6:30 a.m., the TSA said operations were suspended in the oversize baggage screening room, after a bag was directed onto the tarmac despite not having been completely screened. Bag screening resumed at 7:19 a.m., the TSA said. But the flagged bag, which was isolated on the tarmac, was not cleared for another two hours, after the Essex County Bomb Squad gave its okay.
Authorities have announced that the woman who tested positive for explosive residue is not a security risk, but it remains unclear why she tested positive for explosive residue.

Except for one black woman in a major East Coast city airport who said, “Of course you do” in a snarky tone, I have never been treated with anything but courtesy and respect. All the male TSA employees who give me the pat down are scrupulous about being respectful and explaining exactly what they are doing. Most are obviously embarrassed by the procedure. More than one TSA employee has mumbled to me, “There‘s no way I’d go through that machine either, I don’t trust it.” I’ve heard husbands of pregnant mothers go off about the stupidity of the whole thing and TSA employees respond, calmly and politely, that they absolutely agree but they have to follow their instructions.
So let’s remember who the enemy is here. The enemy is our corrupt, evil, fascist United States Government. USG writes the ROE for the TSA. Sure there are some bad apples in the TSA as in many large organizations, but remember that if you are a civilian and want to help keep airline passengers safe (even if you want to volunteer!) your only option is to get a job with the TSA. The employees are not the management. It amazes me that these guys are not issued ballistics vests, but obviously our government couldn‘t give a crock about them just as our government so obviously doesn’t care about the safety of U.S. citizens.

From the TSA website:
“The Screening Partnership Program, or SPP, manages the use of qualified private vendors to perform the screening of passengers and baggage at airports participating in the Program. The Program was designed to meet the requirement for the “opt-out” provision established in the Aviation and Transportation Security Act of 2001, commonly referred to as ATSA. Since November 19, 2004, airport authorities have been eligible under SPP to submit an application to TSA to use private contract screeners.
There are currently 16 airports participating in the Screening Partnership Program: San Francisco International Airport; Kansas City International Airport; Greater Rochester International Airport; Sioux Falls Regional Airport; Jackson Hole Airport; Tupelo Regional Airport; Key West International Airport; Charles M. Schultz-Sonoma County Airport; Roswell Industrial Air Center; and seven airports in Montana: Frank Wiley Field; Sidney Richland Regional; Dawson Community; L.M. Clayton; Wokal Field; Havre City County; and Lewiston Municipal.”

Step 2, Any city or town in Africa that needs a clean water supply, spend all that scanner money to make clean water, and send in the new WSA volunteers. I just flew back in July, and when going through screening screening area, the metal detector went off as i walked through. I know there wasn’t a piece of metal on me anywhere, because i make sure not to bring anything with me that would even give the detector a chance…but anyways the TSA agent made me stand off to the side. I thought i was going to get a pat down or something, and as I stood there waiting i was watching others go through the detector. Finally a TSA agent comes up to me and starts swabbing my hands, and then walks off. They didn’t say anything at all to me, so i stood there another 30 seconds or so before I thought to myself…I must be done….so I started to go get my phone, and belt out of the bin, and then i thought….”Hold on let me ask if I am done before i just take my stuff and go, I don’t want something crazy to happen.” So I walk up to the agents and say…“Umm I just want to make sure I am done here before I take my stuff and go”, and they said yes they were done with me…..just an interesting comparison….
