Vick should have certainly spent more time in prison. I was watching O’Reilly tonight and his fill-in was debating with the Krypt Keeper — err Colmes .. on Obama calling Vick. Well, Mr undead said that Vick paid his debt to society and deserves a second chance! Well, I agree that someone who has paid their debt to society DOES deserve a second chance (except for child molesters, rapists and murders) however Vick did NOT pay his debt! He deserved YEARS behind bars! He got a SLAP on the WRIST for his in-human crimes! If he had served REAL time and actually showed REAL repentance for what he did .. I can understand him getting a chance to go back to Football and generally starting a new life. BUT he didn’t .. and it’s sickening. For our PRESIDENT to call this bastard .. it’s just completely and totally disgusting. It shows Obomba has no morals or values. Furthermore, it shows he has no character as a human being.

The only reason obama called was to get some more media time. This story was getting lots of news coverage and he just had to get the spotlight on himself.

This was an incredibly stupid statement. Is Tucker a PETA weenie? Does he equate animal life with human life? That’s not a Christian belief.

If you’re going to say “I’m a Christian, but..” you had better follow that with common sense Old Testament justice, not fruit loop PETA nonsense.

No Islesfordian , it was NOT a stupid statement.
It was a statement made for dramatic effect, but not stupid. I am certain that Tucker Carlson understands the futility of calling for the execution of Vick.

That said, there are many people who have posted on this thread who HAVE made stupid statements.

It seems that they have no idea of the actual cruelty that Vick exhibited with these dogs. Vick himself took a dog and repeatedly slammed it onto the pavement until it was dead. It’s BRAINS splattered all over the place. Why? Because it did not want to fight and kill another dog. Redemption…,really? Did his time, really?

Dogs were hung, drowned, and electrocuted…,God knows what else. They all died in unspeakable pain. Vick refers to this as “Immature” behavior. UGH!

What is wrong with all of you who are so freaking unmoved about the suffering of innocents?

Vick’s traumatized surviving dogs….,what happened to them. Do you care. Probably not.

Some of them went to “The Washington Animal Rescue League”, 71 Oglethorpe Ave., Washington D.C., 20011.

These dogs were terrified of humans. They had never known kindness. These dogs only knew that human contact meant that a terrible experience would ensue. After months of patience and love on the part of the good people at the league the dogs are coming round.

Elaine Allison of the league said,”It’s their innate love of people that is their saving grace”. That broke my heart.

To all of you empathy challenged, moral relativists who have posted here , and you know who you are.
You should make a contribution to the Animal Rescue League. You need to for your own redemption!

Vick sure as hell isn’t, nor is our President who is elated with Vick’s second chance. UGH!

For all of you that feel your precious time is worth defending Vick, don’t forget. Most people consider their happy little dog to be like a child to them. So, let me know when you can handle a group sanctioned skinning of a child. Don’t talk to me about how disgusting this man is. He’s disgusting. And the whole “it’s a cultural thang” angle makes it all the more disgusting.

I feel as a Christian I should stand up for a man who made a mistake, paid for it and stops doing it. I believe people deserve a second chance, especially when they act the part after changing…

Do you not believe people can mess up and stop doing their horrific crimes and it ok to lift them up? Remember your answer….

Saul killed Christians. He quit and became Paul. I’m glad he had a second chance, aren’t you?

Let go of your anger, Vick did nothing to you or your precious lap dog. I would argue treating your dog as a child and not as they are naturally born and breed to behave is torture and mean.

But after seeing his remorse, serve his time, and try to right his life, I am cheering for him. Let’s all try to having a forgiving heart as Jesus would want us to have.

All the other hosts especially Hannity were swooning over Guiliani and Mitt Romney and telling us how the economy was going to be fine and that the wars were going well.

If you ever let the government have a foot in the door their coming in. Dog fighting is terrible, but by the standards of most these comments, even hunters are derranged. I don’t like dog fighting and after seeing a **** fight, well I kinda got scared of my own laying hens but like you said once you open the door Government busts on in. Soon calf roping will be inhumane along with bull riding.

OK, let me get this straight. Vic, mistreats dogs, and maybe even more then mistreats them. He goes to jail, pays for his crime. Everyday in this country and around the world, we take the most defenseless humans, and end their life in ways that would turn our stomach. And that seems to be OK? I will say right now, we better get our priorities re-aligned.

One last comment. If the prices of food go up, and the kids get hungry, will you choose the pet over the kids?

Execution is a bit harsh, however his sentence was to light, and to allow him to return to play football was a crime within itself. The man does not deserve to go right back into earning such a ridiculous salary. He deseved to have more jail time and his right to continue playing football forfieted. If he were a mechanic and got convicted of the same thing, after he got out would you say he doesnt have the “right” to work on cars and trucks anymore? If someone will hire him (which they did) then he has the right to work in whatever field he chooses because he did his time. I find it offensive that TLC puts a warning in front of Palin’s shooting a caribou and not in front of the AZE “clean your equipment” or ““Clean your balls” commercial. These must be people that only eat at restaurants or eat frozen pre-made food and never go to the fresh meat/fish part of the store.

As someone who works in federal law enforcement for 12+ years, let’s put some perspective:

I have had convictions for bank, mail, and wire fraud of $200,000+ receive less time. I have had convictions for assault with a dangerous weapon (baseball bat, metal pipe, brass knuckles, knife, etc.) receive less time.

In addition, I have only had one convict serve time in Leavenworth, the worst prison next to the super-max in Florence, CO. Leavenworth is HARD time, plus he was probably in solitary due to safety concerns.

I’m not condoning what Vick did, but he admitted to his crimes early, plead guilty quickly, served his time, and is doing penance for his wrong-doings by publicly speaking against animal cruelty and dog fighting.

I have and love dogs and cats, but please, let’s keep things in perspective, and try to have a forgiving heart as Christ would want us to have. From my experience in law enforcement, I have seen a lot worse…a lot worse.

I agree that Tucker was over the top, but he certainly doesn’t need to apologize. Why, you ask? Is an apology by Tucker really neccessary when we have a Prez that thinks the courts didn’t go far enough with regards to redistributive change (equal-results= socialism), apologizes for our country’s greatness, allows two NB Panthers to stand at a polling location with a club, and, has, in only one example, appointed an admitted Communist and racist V Jones as a ‘Czar’? Who is this guy to appoint ‘Czars”, anyway? AG Holder not showing any concern for the racist panthers actions, alone, is of way more importance than what Tucker said. Anyway, Vick is a example of what professional football has become. This guy is so stupid that regardless of his income from his playing salary and endorsements, he still didn’t have the brains to tell his home-boy friends that they could kill dogs if they wanted, but he would take a pass. Do a search on professional football arrests. While web-surfing in 2008, just by happenstance, I saw a report from a San Diego paper that showed 500 NFL player arrests from 2000-08. The report said were it not for things like charges being dropped, etc, the list would have been much higher. What do you expect? Players like Vick are tolerated from midget leagues thru HS and college. I’am always reading of football players getting in trouble. No, Tucker, an apology is not neccessary. I’am still waiting for yours, Obama/Holder.

When his fluke football career comes crashing down soon we’ll be hearing more of his twisted exploits. He’s filth! Little wonder that he’s admired by the freak in the WH.

I find it amazing that the Vick tool is forgiven because he can toss a football around.

From the moment he was busted, everyone was looking to the day he would get out and save the NFL. It’s just a disgusting example of the current state of things in the USA. Crminals and felons don’t usually get heaps of praise or glory. It makes me think of Ancient Rome and the Gladiators.

It’s not only Vick either. It’s also all those football fans that turn a blind eye to what this guy has done.
My co-workers love to joke. “Vick’s great! Lay off the man, all he did was kill a few dogs. But he sure can play!”

Shoot my dog and the odd’s are I will use you for target practice. However, the dogs Vick were abusing were his own and the fights were occuring between people that had trained their dogs for that. Not my cup of tea, but their are people that like that “sport”.
The comment was way off base, but if that is the way he feels, then he is free to express his feelings. What is the problem?
At least until the FCC rules on this.

Vick hanged, electrocuted, drowned, and beat dogs to death with his own hands. This is what you call just dog fighting, nothing more?
Sounds like your standards of behavior are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Unfortunately yes, that is the nasty brutal beast of dog fighting. Just as shooting cows give you hamburgers or electrifying chickens give you that fried chicken. They kill the dogs that don’t fight or gets wounded in a fight. Didn’t say it was right but that is the behavior. So to your logic all the people whom kill food for you to eat is inhumane? Also how did the breed of pitbulls come about? Is it inhumane to fight dogs on wild animals as foxes, rabbits, birds, etc? Believe it or not, most dogs have been bread to fight something, not be a lap dog.

No it’s not cause the guy plays football or can throw a football. If he was a carpenter or a trash man no one here would say a word. He screwed up and stopped doing it after paying for it. He decided to try his profession, playing football. Would you get all worked up at a trash man leaving jail and going back to being a trash man?

Self proclaimed Christians – don’t you believe in redemption? Aren’t we all sinners? Aren’t we all undeserving of the breath of life? Forgiveness? Eternal life?
Personally, this was the first time I have agreed with President Obama. Michael Vick paid and continues to pay back to society. He has a gift. And is using the gift to support himself and pay back for wrongs. Let us celebrate FORGIVENESS and stand shoulder to shoulder with the Eagle’s QB

I live in Appalachia, where people tie their dogs up, then move out in the night. Their dogs are left to freaking die painful deaths.
Where people don’t spay their dogs and end up with a dozen, running the dirt roads in search of food. No dog around here has ribs you cannot see
.Where people kill the puppies born of these “pets.”
Where some nights, you can hear the sounds of dogs in pain at the hands of their loving owners

People care more about a sport star than they do a living creature.

I agree with much of what you say, but will not accept or condone cruelty simply because it has always existed. This is something we can strive to rise above and come down hard on to try to eliminate it where we find it. We don’t condone murder because it has always existed, do we? That kind of logic leads the acceptance of any kind of behavior.

All dogs were originally bred for a purpose, most often hunting, to provide food. Some were bred as war dogs, used for fighting the enemy when man went to war. This does NOT mean they still need to be used that way. It was bred in, it can be bred out.

I enjoy a good hamburger as much as the next man. However, if systematic torture and brutal killing were the way these animals were put down you can bet I would be resorting to vegies and grains.

I don’t care what his profession, whether football player or garbage man, he is reprehensible and deserves no one’s adulation and admiration!

I never said dog fighting is acceptable, I personally do not like it but dog fighting is not the same behavior as a psychotic person mutilating animals. The British created dog fighting as well as the pit bull terrier and no it can not be breed out of them unless you eliminate pit bulls all together. Dog fighting was made illegal long time ago but people still practice that stupid sport the British created. But just cause you make a mistake once, doesn’t mean you will do it your whole life.

Yes please look into slaughter houses of cows, chickens, and pigs…You will be eating those grains soon as they are all raised only to be shot, hung, or electrocuted to be served up on your plate. That’s their purpose in life.

Vick made a mistake and stopped doing it. Instead of continuing to kick him why not embrace his change so that to bring more awareness to dog fighting? That would make more sense would it not? Kill evil with kindness. Thanks for the good dialogue.

It isn’t just the killing of dogs that is troubling, it’s the vicious and cruel nature of the man. My belief is that anyone who would torture and abuse animals would do the same to women and children. There are some crimes that are so vile that only the death penalty fits the bill. This Vick case is one such crime. I give Tucker Carlson credit for having the courage to say what NEEDED TO BE SAID!

      HIGHLAND -

      I agree with you.

My question to everyone else is if Michael Vick deserves death, according to Tucker Carlson, what about all those people who have tortured human beings? Do they get the death penalty, too? How about those who have aborted babies, late term abortions? Do they get the death penalty, also?

Unfortunately, the judge ruled differently for those of you who want his blood. However, I don’t agree with B.O. calling the team and making a big deal out of Vick being on the team. Vick has paid for his crime and he is playing according to the rules. B.O. just drew a whole lot of unwanted and probably unmerited attention to him and now people are calling for Vick’s blood again.

I seem to remember that Michael Vick had a huge pile of debt to pay off. I would suspect that what he earns from his time on the field will be garnished by those he owes money to. My other question to everyone is whether a convicted felon who has served time should be permanently barred from ever having a job again. In one way, that is what people are advocating. He’s an athlete – that’s what he does for a living. His foolish and illegal actions cost him everything he had. Does this mean he should never, ever again be able to earn an income and have a life? Think carefully before you answer. There are thousands of ex-cons in our society, some of which have managed to re-intergrate into normal life, many of which have not. Michael Vick was one of those who were working on re-entering society and now people are all furious with him again over something he did, paid for and moved on from.

Some of you are acting like he took his dogs and set them to innocent dogs off the street. All the dogs were trained to fight, kill and die. Does it make this sport wrong, I’m not the one to judge. I don’t own any dogs now but I want to. I’m more into wolf type dogs, like a Husky. I use to have an Australian Shepard. If Vick or anyone attacked my dog and killed it, there’d be a huge price to pay, especially if done intentionally. As much as I cherish pets, they aren‘t human and don’t have the same rights as humans do. They are considered property under the law and as Vick’s personal property and as the personal property of his opponents, they decided what to do with the dogs.

As much as I choke up when I see the ASPCA commercials about abandoned and abused dogs, they are still property. If you want to grant them the rights of human beings, then you are free to advocate that. It would be an interesting society to see when animals have the same rights as humans do. Do you really want to open that can of worms?

He did his time, and is out for time served, and as far as we know isn’t committing any crimes. It would behoove us to remember that hearts can change and that we are all possessed of freewill.

Advocating killing a human being for being cruel to an animal(s), after he’s served his time and is now out with a clean slate and living (thus far) a clean life, seems to me to be patently absurd.

The entire point of our prison system is to not only punish, but to rehabilitate. The entire point of Christianity, and I’m assuming most on this thread are Christians, is to learn to love your enemy and to learn ultimate forgiveness, and always remember that vengeance, as well as judging the souls of men, belongs to the Lord…only.

Correct, this is crazy. I can’t stand the Eagles but all of this talk about Vick is just stupid. Matbe he didn’t get enough time in jail for what he did but he paid his debt according to the court so we need to leave him alone.

I believe in forgiveness and second chances and Vick deserves his. He is not a rapist, murderer, or child molester, he did his time and now is free to do whatever he wants to do just like the rest of us.

Carlson saying something like this is just as stupid as Whoopi saying what Vick did is just a part of black culture, or Brad Pitt saying the executives deserve the death penalty, even though Pitt is outspoken against the death penalty.

I am a dog lover too and have a dogs as pets my whole life but, comeone, this is dumb.

The president sould have stayed out of this but he doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut so his comments are expected. As for the rest of us, can’t we give this story the death penalty already?

I do not believe in animal cruelty but at the same time I will not elevate animals to that of humans. Where does it stop logically? Animals feel pain. Plants have shown response to pain. There are groups that feel eating plants is as bad as eating animals and that we should only eat the fruits of plants. Let’s all jump on the whacko bus and head down the road of emotional response that is void of all rational logic.

      @INDEPENDENT TESS

Sadists who enjoy causing pain for other people can often find the same sort of enjoyment in causing pain for animals. This does not, however, imply the reverse… that people who cause pain for animals (whether it’s enjoyed or not) are more likely to be cruel to humans. (If this were true, a large percentage of your ancestry would have to be considered sociapaths.)

There’s an obvious flaw to this experimental setup: i.e. an element that is going to exist mostly in one group (commiting “cruelty” to both humans and animals) and skew the results.

What I’m trying to say here is that showing that a person who is cruel to animals is statistically more likely to be cruel to people does not in any way imply that the two conditions are equivalent, or that anyone who is cruel to animals will inevitably be cruel to people or that one will inevitably lead to the other.

Correlation is easy to show. In my experience, the conclusions drawn from this data are all too often flawed. As has been said before: there are white lies, lies, damnable lies and statistics.

What makes this specific issue even more difficult is that getting the people involved to agree on what constitutes cruelty (to people or animals) is nigh impossible. And I don’t use that term lightly.

All this to say that, IMHO, it’s inappropriate for you to suggest Vick is going to escalate to violence against his fellow man. To back this up by referring to a statisitical correlation between those who commit such acts towards both animals and people demonstrates a fundamental lack of understanding and a gross misapplication of mathematics.
