Tucker Carlson Walks Back His ‘Mike Vick Should be Executed’ Comment

Sometimes we just get a little too passionate about things and speak in hyperbole. That’s how Tucker Carlson explained away his recent comment that NFL quarterback Michael Vick should be “executed” as a result of his dog fighting conviction.

Carlson made the controversial comments while filling in for Sean Hannity over the Christmas holiday. So it was only fitting that the backpedal would come as a guest on Hannity’s show Monday night. But before accepting Carlson’s mia culpa, Hannity had some fun at Carlson’s expense.

“Tucker, I take one big vacation a year,” he jokingly told Carlson. “I take two weeks off, my big vacation, and what do I have to read on the blogs? That you’re destroying the show.”

Carlson chuckled too, and eventually explained his comment by saying “this is what happens when you get too emotional,” and later added, “I overspoke. I’m uncomfortable with the death penalty under any circumstances. Of course I don’t think he should be executed.” They both eventually agreed they love dogs. The exchange starts at about 4:00 in the segment below:

Sure Vick paid his sentence. What punishment we living human beings have given him. But believe me, God has more punishment in mind for him. That’s the only thing that keeps me from saying really nasty things about this sub-human. He will get his. It’s all about the almighty dollar. I sure wish
he wasn’t as talented physically as he is because that is how he is staying in the news.I wouldn’t
give him any living creature. He does not deserve even a cockroach as a pet.

I think a lot of people miss the big picture. Does anyone have any idea what type of warped, sick mind someone must have to do what Vick did?
You have to be somewhat of a sociopath – very similar to someone who abuses kids – your brain is wired wrong and there is nothing anyone is going to do to change it.
Vick is doing what ever he needs to so that he can play football and make money – he will say anything no to be in jail again, but don’t believe for one second he is sorry for what he did. He may be sorry for getting caught, but I seriously doubt he has regrets.
You cannot have any feelings whatsoever to do what he did. All this crap about him serving his time – I hope he ends up being your neighbor someday.
Vick is scum and there is a special place in hell waiting for him. Hope he gets there soon.

The people with any sense, know this was figuratively speaking. I’m sick of political correctness. You want political correctness, I’ll give you some. 99% of the professional football player‘s probably couldn’t spell their own name if it weren’t on that fat pay check. 95% of them probably wouldn‘t be in the NFL if it weren’t for affirmative action. And 1% of them are quarterbacks. I stop watching and supporting football in the early 80′s. It cost too much, the players get payed too much, government takes advantage of tax payers by paying for stadiums for millionaires. And than on top of it all, the integrity of the players as roll models. They all are either punks like Vick, or cry babies like Favre!

Everyone is just supposed to forget what he did because he can scramble and throw a football? Let’s not forget him flipping off his hometown fans in Atlanta, trying to sneak pot on an airplane, giving a girl herpes and the out of wedlock kids either. He’s scum, I don’t care how fast he is or how exciting his play is. I was at the 2009 Falcons/Eagles game in Atlanta and half the Atlanta fans were screaming for Vick. Don’t forget the havock he reaked on the program in Atlanta, he destroyed it, for a time. You still see more #7 jerseys at agame than any other. It’s disgusting.

Tucker, I understand why you said that, probably would have said that or worse, like “ they should string Vick up by his thumbs” or worse. I agree, just be mean to an animal and I’m right in your face. Like the idiot who drug a dog behind his car until he was dead after his sister stole the dog in first place. Tucker, I know FOX or somebody made you apologize, but isn’t it funny, the other side never seem to have to say “They’re sorry” for anything. Double standards. If I ever win the lottery, I’m going to put in a first class animal shelter for abused dogs and cats, God love ‘em.

B.O. may have thought he was “praising” Vick, but what he actually did was draw alot of attention to Vick and rile up alot of people’s feelings all over again. Like it or not, Vick was tried, found guilty and served his sentence. One of the articles I read indicated that Vick had a mountain of debt to pay off and literally lost everything. Right, wrong or otherwise, that’s what happened.

Somehow or other, he managed to convince an NFL team to take him back on as a player. They did and Vick plays. Their decision. Vick’s keeping his nose clean. Life is beginning to straighten out for Michael Vick.

And then B.O. jumps into the picture. Massive uproar. People running their mouths all over the place, spouting off what they would like to do to Michael Vick in a dark alley. Okay, freedom of speech. And then Tucker Carlson pours more gasoline on the fire with his decision that Vick should be executed.

This whole thing isn’t about Michael Vick – like him, dislike him, hate him – whatever. He’s the pawn on the chess board here.

This is about B.O. and Tucker Carlson both getting into something that they would have been far better off leaving be. Vick has to live with what he did, and he has been. B.O. ran, got a stick and poked the hornet’s nest and quite truthfully, Carlson was standing right next to B.O. and got mad when he got stung.

So, Carlson. Stand up and take it like a man. It wasn’t passion. It was anger. And yes, you said it. Now, own it. Just like Michael Vick has got to live with his bad decisions, you get to live with yours.

Koreans eat dogs everyday. Some of us need to attempt to display some perspective here. Vick paid his dues. All this holier than thou, look how much I love doggies bullcrap makes me sick…sorry.

We have a golden and a dane…and we love them both very much. But if either of them ever draws blood on one of my kids I’ll kill it myself. Animal Control won’t even know it happened. The point is to get the gubment out of our lives, people…all this panty-wadded hand wringing and arguing over who loves dogs the most just empowers them, as they have an excuse to legislate our pets.

For a million dollars would you feed a hungry North Korean family if the only way you could do it was by tearing a pomeranian’s head off with your bare hands? Have you ever had to spend more than 15 minutes with a pomeranian? God.
