Update: Tucson’s Davis-Monthan Air Force Base Says No Shots Were Fired

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — An Air Force base near Tucson was locked down Friday afternoon amid reports of someone with a weapon, but base officials said no shots were fired.
Traffic into and out of the base was being limited because of an unspecified security situation, but no one was shot or hurt, according to the public affairs office the base.
There were reports of something that looked like it might have been a weapon, said Tech Sgt. Russ Martin.
A fire official said two ambulances were sent to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base on the outskirts of the southern Arizona city where earlier this year a gunman gravely wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and killed six people.
As the lockdown unfolded Friday, students were kept in schools on the base. Senior Airman Timothy Dunaway said traffic was reduced to a single point entry; vehicles lined up at the base’s main gate and were being turned around.
Davis-Monthan is adjacent to the Pima Air & Space Museum and the “boneyard” for old military and government airplanes that is a popular destination for aviation enthusiasts.
The base is the home of the 355th Fighter Wing, and provides attack airpower, combat support and medical forces, according to the base’s Facebook page.
Security at military bases has gained more attention in the last two years since an Army major went on a rampage at Fort Hood in Texas in 2009. Maj. Nidal Hasan is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the shooting spree. Investigators have foiled other plots against military bases in other parts of the country since Sept. 11.

I was sitting a writer’s club at school when they came over the announcements saying, “Any students that live on Base who are still on campus, please come to the office for instructions. DM has been closed down.” That’s all they said. We were freaking out, wondering what on Earth could cause the whole base to be on lock-down. Honestly, I’m so relieved this is all it is.

Posted on September 16, 2011 at 10:04pmThere are more than one gate leading onto the base. I lived in Tucson for 10 years. I have been gone for some time and cannot remember all the gates, but I passed by the one on Kolb on my way to work each day and the Museum sits off of Valencia. The old boneyard is on Kolb also and the fleet of planes is right across the road inside the base itself. These are the ones they deploy as needed.

Wtf this cant be a coinsidence. By the way I live in Arizona I am about 90 miles away from Tucson driving and I just saw a air force jet flying low and hawling butt towards tucson. They are covering something up and lying to us about something!

People don’t walk down the streets with guns or samurai swords on their hips, lmao, that was funny. Yes, it‘s a right to carry state but the only place you’ll see people wanting to be that way seriously, is in tombstone. Yes, people have their weapons here in AZ, but most of the time, they don‘t have them out in everyone’s face.

And if they do ever get a gun by order it will only have three rounds in the clip and the soldier will have strict orders that he can only return fire after being shot in the head and then he will still need the approval of the congress after a special session on the incident. In fact, if you want to have a weapon in a home on base you must register it with the base PMO and then most bases make you put it in the base armory and you can only get it when they are open. Not in the middle of the night when that idiot everyone knows is a nutjob finally cracks and starts shooting all of the people on base. Its so bad that they won‘t even trust NCO’s to drive from a rifle range on base to the armory on the same base with unloaded weapons.
Of course, these are also the people who punished a Marine for defending himself with a hammer when three other Marines jumped him in the parking lot. Thanks to that incident there were no more toolboxes allowed in the barracks Marines cars or rooms. Its a stupid mind that comes up with these rules and to think that it comes from the same men who command our armed forces and took an oath to protect the Constitution of the United States. Officers need to step up and start upholding their end of the deal. The enlisted are already doing more than their fair share of the deal during and after leaving the service. But, officers are the liberal college educated ones with power issues.

I have read the quran, and know first hand of the passages regarding non-muslims, and how they are not only inferior, but deserve to be lied to…to be tortured….and to be MURDERED.
