Two of Herman Cain’s Top Iowa Staff Resign Just Days After Two New England Staffers Quit

Two of Herman Cain’s Top Iowa Staff Resign Just Days After Two New England Staffers Quit2012 GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain may have a busier holiday weekend than expected as he will need to replace two campaign staffers in Iowa just days after the departure of two key members of his New England staff. CNN:

“Tina Goff, the Iowa organizational director, confirms to CNN that she left the campaign on Friday. Goff also said that another Iowa staffer – Straw Poll coordinator Kevin Hart – resigned that day. The Cain campaign confirmed both developments.

The Cain campaign downplayed the significance of Goff’s title. ‘She was a junior-level staffer,’ claimed Communications Director Ellen Carmichael. She said the campaign had not yet hired a director for the state, but that it soon will.

Goff told CNN that the conservative businessman ‘wasn’t willing to make the commitment to Iowa necessary to win the [Ames] straw poll.’ That contest is seen as an early test of success in Iowa.

Goff added that she was concerned by the amount of money and time the Cain campaign was committing to that straw poll. However, she declined to discuss specifics.”

The Iowa exodus comes less than a week after New Hampshire state director, Cain’s only staffer in the state, as well as a campaign regional director both resigned.

The news is troubling for the Cain campaign considering it is expected that the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO will need to produce strong showings in early Iowa and New Hampshire primaries if he has any hope of making it to the 2012 ticket.

Cain has raised just under $2.5 million in the second quarter according to a campaign press release previewing the candidate’s first FEC filing. The fundraising mark is well below all of his 2012 rivals, and it is unclear how much of the sum was donated by Cain himself. ABC News:

“Cain’s $2.46 million puts him below all of his GOP rivals that have revealed their fundraising numbers for the second quarter – something Mr. Cain had anticipated.

‘I won’t have more money than any of the any of the candidates,’ he told Cavuto.

Three Republican candidates are neck-in-neck with their second quarter fundraising. Tim Pawlenty raised $4.2 million, Rep Ron Paul raised $4.5 million, and Jon Huntsman raised $4.1, although a portion – less than half – was donated by Huntsman himself.  Mitt Romney‘s team has been indicating they’re on pace to raise about 20 million.”

Cain will perhaps be competing with former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich for campaign replacements as the fellow 2012 hopeful lost 18 top aides in June.

The fact that money is the measure of the candidate at all shows the system is corrupted beyond repair almost. Until Americans send the message by electing the poorest candidate showing money means squat diddly then they’ll get the leaders they deserve. Corrupt Chicago Daley Machine frauds through and through.

When I hear that POS talk about needing ‘a billion dollars’ to run makes me wanna puke and ashamed to be an American frankly. With the internet today it shouldn‘t cost more than a million to get your message out if it’s one Americans wanna hear. I’m sick of the “Media Whore” campaigns and we need to end it by demanding laws that limit spending to a million per candidate.

George Washington didn’t spend a dime to become president. That’s the kind of America I want, not one that keeps candidates from running because they’re not wealthy and bought and paid for before they even say the oath which we all know after this sack means absolutely nothing today. Nothing.

You are on to something here. It’s been said that when running for mayor of NYC, Mike Bloomberg would pay talented campaign managers, and it wasn’t so that they would work for him but rather he would pay them so they would not work for his opponents. What a devilish strategy, a very dark and evil way to run a campaign.

You are certainly right that we did not choose our last candidate and in fact we won’t likely choose this one either. The puppet strings are absolutely being controlled by the big money in this country. The private owners of the Federal Reserve as well as the incredibly influential Council on Foreign Relations have so much control over everything that takes place in this system. The media works for them. There is no such thing as journalism any more. They will choose for us.

The only possibility of us electing a president that will not be owned by this cartel is if we have a huge grass roots effort (think Tea Party on steroids!) and elect Ron Paul!!!!

i heard what he said about the fed and it still concerns me, he wouldn‘t push for an audit and thinks it wouldn’t show anything if they did one…. if we don’t get somebody that understands economics and the banking/monetary system, we will be heading further down the path we are already on

Texas Supreme Court: Perry Can Travel in Secret
The Texas Supreme Court ruled Friday that Texas Governor Rick Perry’s travel plans and itineraries can be kept secret, overturning the rulings of two lower courts. The original case centered on whether DPS travel vouchers, normally subject to open records requests, should be made public in the case of the Governor’s trips, reports the Houston Chronicle.

In an opinion written by Chief Justice Wallace B. Jefferson, the court ruled that the threat of physical harm trumped the state’s open records law.

The Department of Public Safety, which provides security for Perry, had argued that public scrutiny of the travel expenses for the security team would jeopardize the governor’s safety.

“The common-law right to be free from physical harm is an interest in personal integrity, distinct from that covered by the privacy interest, which the Court recognized as an exception to disclosures under the public information act,” Jefferson wrote in his opinion.

The ruling comes as the Governor considers a run for the U.S. presidency, a move that would see him making a lot more out-of-state trips in the coming months.

On Sunday, Perry spoke at a summit near Vail, Colorado that was hosted by the the Koch brothers, billionaire political donors who hope to see a conservative take the White House in 2012. In the case of that visit, the Austin American Statesman tried to track Perry’s travels through online flight recor

We do have a bit of a conundrum, there are several conservative candidates, with one true RINO(Mitt Obamney), one libertarian(losing ground), “”"

the several conservative candidates are just as establishment as the “SEVERAL TRUE” RINOS are, and more of the “Bush/Obama/McCain/Romney/all the rest” policy’s are not what is best for the country!!

and the one true constitutionalists isn’t loosing ground… the bought and sold media on both sides (msm and right wing talk/fox) wont even mention his name, even GB and the blaze are so sold out they won‘t run story’s about him,,
when he wins the straw poles, or out fund raises the competition and still no mention of any of it!! you know the establishment is scared of what he has to say , i just hope enough of the tea party and conservatives realize who the real constitutionalists is and nominate him…

      NO RINOS NO NEOCONS 2012

Or…is the old way of doing the campaign not what Cain wants to do. Like the past 50 years of political blunders in our Government, maybe he sees a different approch that doesn’t reley on the same old-same old that most of the voters are tired of. This is where we let the party pick our canidate by following the straw poll taken in the same states and used to ppound us with who we will vote for. And so we had McCain to run against Obungler….

Agreed. Often, campaign workers have concretized on how things should be run, and new ideas are not accepted.

I had heard about this on WSB radio on Saturday afternoon, but I didn‘t think I’d be reading about it. Fooled me, huh, Blaze?
