Two U.S. Soldiers Arrested for Offering Assassination Services to Mexican Drug Cartel

Federal authorities have broken up an alleged murder-for-hire plot involving U.S. soldiers based in Colorado, who allegedly thought they were offering an array of hit squad services to Mexican Zeta drug cartel members, and who were also involved in a broader national drug ring.

The Colorado Springs Gazette has the details on the chilling story:
“A former Fort Carson officer allegedly offered to steal weapons from the post and organize a murder-for-hire plot with another soldier as part of a nationwide drug-trafficking ring they tried to run, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Monday. 1st Lt. Kevin Corley, 29, who was discharged from the Army earlier this month, was arrested Saturday in Laredo, Texas, while finalizing details with undercover agents for the contract killing, according to a criminal complaint filed in a U.S. District Court in Texas.
Corley later admitted to federal agents that he organized a four-person kill team to raid a ranch in Texas and steal 20 kilograms of cocaine, the complaint said. Two of those alleged team members — including a sergeant at Fort Carson — were arrested Saturday in the sting, the complaint said. The final alleged member — Corley’s cousin, Jerome Corley — was shot to death while federal agents moved in to arrest the men.”
Corley was first talked to by undercover agents on Sept. 26 after they noticed a picture of a grenade they deduced has been smuggled off from the military post.
Prosecutors allege that over the course of several months Corley offered tactical training to undercover agents posing as Zetas drug cartel members, including “room clearing, security and convoy security.” The Chicago Tribune reports that the feds also claim the suspects offered to sell them sniper rifles and fully automatic weapons.
The sting operation reached its climax on Saturday in Laredo, Texas, when agents received confirmation that Corley and his three associates were ready to move on the cartel assassination plot, according to the criminal complaint released in court on Monday.
According to the Chicago Tribune’s description of the criminal complaint, Corley allegedly discussed the murder-for-hire job with the undercover agent, “saying he had purchased a new Ka-Bar knife to carve a “Z” in the victim’s chest a calling card of the Zetas cartel and a hatchet to dismember his body.”
Authorities claim the undercover officers called for backup to swoop in and arrest the suspects and during the apprehension effort, a federal agent fired several rounds that struck and killed Jerome Corley.
Kevin Corley, Sgt. Samuel Walker, 28 — both of Colorado Springs — and Shavar Davis, 29, of Denver, are scheduled to appear in a Texas courtroom for a detention hearing on Thursday.

Take note of the stupidity of these men, and how far down the military has dropped in its standards by making one of them an officer in spite of all obvious signs that he‘s an absolute imbecile that probably couldn’t pass a GED test n the high school level. I’ve witnessed the same types during my tour. That they can’t accurately read a topographical map, which could cause artillary support to rain down on friendly forces is only one of the failings these people like him display.
The military has become a social engineering experiment, not a qualified fighting machine. It‘s shameful and it’s appalling.
Offering to train The Zetas is also indicative of a moron. The Zetas are US Army Special Forces trained paramilitaries who are trained far better than these delusional retards. Offering to “teach” them anything or to act as a defending force is laughable.
I remember how hysterically the SPLC and the Defamation League screamed about “white supremacists” in the military, yet never said a word about black gangbangers who inundate the military en masse.
They also have infiltrated police depts. all over the country.

Carson is an Army members dream location to be stationed. Ft Carson is one of the better bases in the Army. Also a 1st Lt does not make a bad salary, but I guess the greed of making more got to these two. As far as being former gang member, that remains to be seen. Perhaps it is what it is, two individuals who decided they could make a bundle selling arms to the drug cartels or carry out assassinations . It is just plain GREED and stupidity.

My husband has been in the military for 20 yrs. and he has seen a lot going on that is chilling.

You’d be surprised how many people our broken justice system forces into the military in order to avoid jail time. Do 48-72 months at Pelican Bay for these charges or consider joining the military. Who the hell is going to do hard time, when they can continue their criminal ways with full benefits, a pension, life insurance,state of the art training, and access to expensive weaponry? Don‘t know if that’s the case here with these two Obama type intellectuals, but it not surprise me in the least.

Unfortunately, over the last few years, recruiting standards were dropped and lots of people were let in that should never have been allowed to enlist. It has created tremendous problems in discipline. Still, the vast majority of Soldiers are good men and women who love their nation and believe in our traditional values.

Weeding out the bad attitudes and mentally unfit got harder when they relaxed the training. How an officer made it through I could understand all he had to do was scream racism and get promoted.

Not all judges do this and the kid or young person cannot be forced, but parents will prefer their “baby” go into the military as rotten as they may be, rather than do a county jail stint or prison time at Pelican Bay for 18- 72 months depending on the charges. They just continue as they have been criminally and the taxpayer pays their way as usual. There needs to be some serious weeding of the bad apples in our military.
@Mammy Nunn We have a lot of military training schools and bases in San Antonio. Let me tell you, I see more Saudi Arabian military here at language school/flight school/medic training all the time. Even Egyptians come here to train. I run into them everywhere. Ironically, I do not hear or see too many Mexican military train here, since they are pretty busy at the moment. Columbian military members are also a presence here and we give them more money on top of it to for the war on drugs.

Our military has lowered its standards for hiring, that’s how thugs, gang members and leftist who actually hate the country and the military have gotten in. That little leftist quee.r Pvt. Manning who leaked classified info to Wikileaks is another example. We are better off having a smaller military of Patriots than to lower standards just to fill the ranks more thoroughly with traitors.
We are seeing this same trend in our big city police forces, lower standards so minority thugs can get in and then we’re surprised when some of them are participating in crimes themselves or not applying the law properly….and I’m a former police officer myself. By the way I’m not disparaging either group (military or police) I have great respect for both, see both as the good guys (sorry P@ultards), I just realize that lower standards have allowed criminals and leftist to infiltrate both groups just like they have in Gov, schools, churches, courts, etc.

Huge problems coming in the future when the idiots that they let in all come home. I am close to joint base lewis mcchord and the quality of folks has gone completely down hill. Every day I feel like there is a new story of a soldier raping a young girl in our area or a murder commited bar brawls etc. Its time to get back to higher standards of who we let in.

Looks like the ol’ LT offerd up some damn good training to his dead cousin, I would have expected at the very least, that US Army troopers plotting an operation of this brazen intention, would have @ least shot it out when being raided by the FEDs & would have expected the (4) man kill team to have at least smoked a few of those FEDs before they were taken down……Shameful.
I don’t know how easy it may be to steal weapons from the US Army base, but in the USMC its nearly impossible…..

Not many realize this, but black people are on the bottom of the totem pole culturally and racially in Mexico. I guess Mexico’s cartel bosses should do some soul searching on racial harmony,according to our Prez.

After they did the hit they would be have been paid with lead and the bodies disposed of. Our army is full of this trash. Our army is training gang members also. To weed them out or deny them entry into the armed forces would be discrimination dont you know. . . The military’s highest brass is beholden to our enemies in D.C.

At this point, I hate to say it, but at least the Zetas have some standards and they are the bad guys. You and I know these boys wouldn’t have lasted South of the border, down Mexico way. The cartels have a structure that puts our spineless politically correct U.S. Generals and their “diverse military” to shame. They are weakening it.What this nation needs is a hell of a lot more leaders like General Patton and Eisenhower in order to break men and build them back up and throw out the trash that are not fit to wear an American military uniform like these two and many more. Our men and women who wear the uniform honorably deserve far better than the leadership they’re stuck with.

Posted on March 30, 2012 at 12:51pm@yiska8 Dark skin of any kind is looked way down on here, more so than in the us. Just ask a kid that goes to school here with very dark skin. The good area is where the light skinned people are. It’s definitely not well known up there, it’s taken for granted here.
