TX Elementary Teacher Accused of Attacking Elderly Couple at Shopping Mall

A Texas elementary school teacher was put on administrative leave earlier this week after being arrested for assaulting an elderly couple at an Arlington, Texas, shopping mall.

TX Elementary Teacher Accused of Attacking Elderly Couple at Shopping Mall

Brenda Jones Stafford (KDFW)

The alleged assault happened Feb. 19 (a Saturday) at The Parks at Arlington mall as Brenda Jones Stafford, a fifth-grade teacher, escorted several of her A.M. Pate Elementary students out on a school field trip.

An elderly couple — Carlton Morgan, 73, and his wife Bette Davis Morgan, 71 — were having coffee at the mall’s food court when Stafford approached them and tried to grab a chair Ms. Davis had her leg propped up on.  Stafford claims she needed the chair for one of her students to use.  But when Davis refused to let go of the chair, Stafford spit on Ms. Davis, pushed her and even tried to choke her.  When Ms. Davis’ husband stepped in to try and stop the fight, Stafford pushed him down, hit him and tried to choke him as well.

Stafford’s students yelled at her, encouraging her to stop attacking Mr. Davis and managed to pull her off him.  Stafford and her group left the scene but she was arrested shortly thereafter when police located her in a different area of the mall.  She now faces felony assault charges and school officials have placed her on administrative leave while the case is investigated.

Fortunately, Mr. and Mrs. Davis sustained only minor injuries in the ordeal.

The alleged assault incident is not the teacher’s first run-in with the law.  In 1996, Stafford was indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault with bodily injury when she threatened a woman at gunpoint.  Those charges, however, were later dismissed by prosecutors.

    @blight14
I still stand by my assessment of broad generalities. Race does not indicate character. God created us equal. What we do with it after that is our own responsibility. (novel idea, huh?) And yes, I am aware of the crime statistics and the prevalence of black rage in our country. But I am also a witness to three white teenage punks breaking in on an elderly white lady in my neighborhood and robbing her…and of a black family who offered comfort and support to the same woman when her husband passed away. Every race has them…good and bad.
Back to subject, this woman needs to lose her job. She is a loose cannon and should not be teaching children.

Now here is a “Teachable Moment” if there ever was one. Since the background check failed to slow the career path, let us keep incidents like these in her “foreground check.” Next, stop her paycheck. Reality check? Sheesh. God save us all.

Again: Assault by a teacher, but not just a teacher, a black teacher. This is another assault from uncontrolled rage from a black person. What the heck? Whats going on here and what’s at the bottom of it? It can’t all be black rage at whites. Some of the recent black rage assaults have been against other blacks! And, in this case, to think this lady is a teacher? How many times has she come unglued on her students yet no one knows about it? Or, how many times has she come unglued on her students and the school was very aware of it but chose to sweep it under the rug? The TEA Party is violent, full of rage, could pull guns at any time and kill people. Yeah, right. Maybe the left needs to think about black rage and see what needs to be done to fix it!

Sorry but I do not agree with your broad generalities of racial behavior.
All races have their low life. This woman is a prime example.
Interesting to me that children that point their fingers and say ‘bang’ are a
menace to society. But a teacher can continue teaching after threatening
Someone with a real gun? Hmmmmmm.

Quite truthfully, I could care less what race or sex the teacher happened to be.

The point is that a teacher launched an unprovoked attack on an elderly couple who were peacefully sitting in a dining area of a mall. The students who were with the teacher knew it was wrong and actually had to intervene.

The above paragraph sums it up. The fact that she was a woman probably counts because the kids were able to pull her off and the couple survived the attack. How her race happens to factor in remains to be seen in whatever legal proceedings that follow. There are federally protected classes of people and she happens to belong to two of them.

I hope that the the elderly couple sue this woman from here to Kingdom Come and that owner of the mall sues , too. If I was the parent of child at that incident, I’d be furious and talking to my lawyer, also.

This crazy woman was allowed to take 5th grade children on a field trip? Stories like this infuriate me because I wonder why no one stepped in to take this nut down after seeing her assault the elderly couple. If it was my parents who were assaulted, I’d want a piece of her.

It is exactly situations like this that allow me to support Governor Walker’s Wisconsin attempt to break the public sector union. It should be done in all 50 states and the federal government as well. This person should never have been allowed to teach. She has a history of violence. Every teacher and every person dealing with people or the public in a public service job should be required to pass a phychological test before being hired. This women may never be fired because of the union. Get rid of these unions and people like this will be fired and not collecting their pay from our taxes.

“Stafford’s students yelled at her, encouraging her to stop attacking Mr. Davis and managed to pull her off him. ”

The STUDENTS – HER STUDENTS had to stop their teacher from beating on Mr. Davis!

“In 1996, Stafford was indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault with bodily injury when she threatened a woman at gunpoint. Those charges, however, were later dismissed by prosecutors.”

If I was the parent of any child in her classes, I would either transfer my child to a private school or home school my child for the remainder of the school year. I would NOT let a child of mine near that woman. Aggravated assault !?! Charges dismissed or not, she pulled a gun on someone. Now she’s attacked two elderly people without provocation. Who is to know what will happen if some student mouths off to her and she starts beating on him or her? This woman is a ticking time bomb waiting to go off. If she is not fired and banned from the school grounds and she has another “incident”, I hope that the parents in the District ban together and sue the School Board from here to Kingdom Come for reckless child endangerment.
