TX Megachurch Launches Campaign to Publicly Shame Stores Not Celebrating Christmas

Pastor Dr. Robert Jeffress is warning all retailers in the Dallas metro area that his congregation
is on the lookout for “naughty” businesses who don’t show outward signs of supporting Christmas — and supporting those “nice” businesses that do.
Jeffress’ 13,000-member First Baptist Church launched its “Grinch Alert” campaign Thursday, a web-based declaration of war on those who have declared war on Christmas. The pastor says his megachurch was motivated to create www.GrinchAlert.com after a number of businesses had removed Christmas trees and replaced traditional Christmas greetings with generic “holiday” language.
Gawker reports:
It all started when a local Christian radio station heard about a Southlake, TX bank that had “fallen into the trap of political correctness” and elected not to display a Christmas tree this year. They took this as a personal affront. (Martyrdom complex?) They did a broadcast shaming that bank, which relented and put a tree in its lobby.
Heartened by this success, First Baptist Pastor Robert Jeffress launched GrinchAlert.com, a catch-all message board for publicly shaming those who fail to “show outward signs of supporting Christmas.”…
“I wanted to do something positive to encourage businesses to acknowledge Christmas and not bow to the strident voices of a minority who object to the holiday,” Jeffress told KCBI-FM, one of the largest Christian radio stations in the country. The church is enlisting the help of the whole community in adding names of stores to the online “naughty” and “nice” lists, which the radio station pledged to read on the air each morning at 7:40 a.m. CST.
Update: Fox News reports this naughty vs. nice pressure on retailers is not limited to Texas, but seems to be a growing movement across the country:

The radical leftists/Communists that have hijacked this once-great nation of ours may succeed in banishing God from the public eye – but CANNOT and WILL NOT EVER banish Him from our hearts … and it’s about time people are finally standing up to these anti-Christian bullies!!!

I agree with you! All who call Jesus Christ Lord should all band together and promote the thing’s that bring glory to him. His ENEMY is working overtime to make sure his name is taken out of the picture…. Which bring’s me to another point The muslims and the other religions celebrate their holiday with NO backlash, why all of the sudden is Christ under attack, from every angle of the board. Time is a ticking, tick tock tick tock, the hour is late. We need to spread Jesus’s name to every high and low place!
AND say Merry Christmas!

Report Post »kishmael
Posted on December 14, 2010 at 10:52amHow is this an insult to Christians? “Happy Holidays” doesn’t exclude Christmas – it just includes other holidays. I really don’t understand why all the Christians are getting so offended. It feels hypocritical of you. The CEO of Starbucks is Jewish, but he doesn‘t have all his employee’s just say “Happy Hanukkah” – he has everybody say “Happy Holidays” – which includes Christmas. Would you boycott Starbucks if they only said Happy Hanukkah?
But isn’t this the beauty of America? You have a right to boycott, the stores have a right to offend you. I‘m not saying these people can’t do it. I‘m just saying I don’t understand.

Posted on December 12, 2010 at 9:09amTime for the vast majority to be “OFFENDED” by a few bitter democrats trying to take the joy of public Christmas celebration away from our bright eyed children.
When these mental reprobates demand that crosses be taken off grave sites, then you know their insanity can literally destroy this nation if it is not fought at every point—Common sense, God-fearing, patriotic Americans must be aggressive in their opposition; and the religious mice who side with the politically correct darkness must be called out, and exposed for what they are,.

Posted on December 13, 2010 at 1:55pmThanks for your comments. I agree with you and believe that is why this socialist administration has gotten a foothold in our nation. We Christians have been the Silent Majority in our Christian nation for far too long. We should have all stood up and screamed when “prayer” was taken out of our schools. When I was in high school, our choral director always said a prayer before each of our performances. Did it hurt anyone? No, if someone did not want to participate they simply didn’t. However, all did and we were the better for it. We saw a Godly Christian teacher, he was such a good man. I feel sorry for our children now…. We now have a president that is neither Christian, though he claims to be his actions prove differently, nor a very good American. Doesn’t love this nation, only what he can fundamentally transform it into. States, “We are no longer a Christian nation!” Well, America we need to prove this narcissistic, arrogant, excuse of a president that , “America will ALWAYS be a Christian nation, for we are one nation UNDER GOD! Merry Christmas with all my love.

I would recommend you seek out another man, who is a strong believer, to help you understand what it is all about, someone with the heart of a teacher. Without context, the Bible is difficult to understand. If you went into any local fundamentalist Christian church on Sunday, you will definitely find such a person because helping others find Christ is the highest calling of all Christians. I know I would be thrilled to find someone like you who is seeking the truth. Oh, and just get on your knees and ask God to help you. If you trust in Him, He always answers your prayers.

Modern stores could learn a lot from this store that we lost to Katrina…. Maison Blanche (White House) really knew how to spread the Christmas Spirit especially to us kids. We did not have a lot of money then, not even a tv, so we loved visiting this store each year. I will always hold this as a sweet memory of my childhood Christmas. 9 I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.

I have no issues with anyone wishing to express their religious views at any of their religious holidays. I also back those who bring it to the attention of their members the businesses who are not favorable to their religious beliefs, etc. Everyone knows this country was founded on a very strong Christian beliefs and this is a basis for our moral compass. With all this being eroded beginning in the public school system, is the progressives attempt to change history to their liking. Political correctness is the cancer of our society and has been for a number of years. To change the way we do things for a few over the majority is just stupid. Posted on December 12, 2010 at 9:45amAnd this so called Pastor is a homophobic bigot too. What a loser
Then again, this is the church fronted by Pastor Robert Jeffress, the author of Hell? Yes! who said Mormon Mitt Romney was a member of a “cult” and who, in September, said that “Christians are uniquely favored by God, [while] Mormons, Hindus and Muslims worship a false god.”
Hey Glenn you might want to tell your crack staff of writers that this scam artist hates your faith also.

Report Post »the private businesses have a right to do whatever they want, just like we consumers have a right to give our business to whom ever we want, if we choose to give our buisness to those who are like minded that is our right. Businesses who want teens business market to teens, businesses who want men’s business market to men, businesses who want Christians business should market to Christians.. if they find Christian business not such a big deal then they have right to NOT market to Christians, simple as that. If the naughty and nice lists are inaccurate then those businesses even have a right to sue.. gee I am not in business or law and even silly little conservative Christian like me can figure that one out,

The churches have the right to protest businesses just as the businesses have the same freedoms to say merry christmas or happy holidays; the people who patronize these places will decide on their own with feet and wallets how they wish to side.

Posted on December 12, 2010 at 12:54pmI am a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ..I don’t celebrate christmas…but I would not boycott a place that doesn’t say “merry christmas”… as this church wants you to… by not saying “merry christmas” are they hurting christmas…by not displaying a christmas tree in their lobby…are they hurting christmas…after all Jesus is your reason (for christians)…not all this materialistic stuff…do we need to be reminded how much we love him with all these store signs and greetings and stuff…now if you want to put down christmas or christians in your store… I wouldn’t shop there either…its America and it’s your choice…

Posted on December 12, 2010 at 2:19pmAnd I thought 1/3 GenAm crawled off into his hole and died, but here he/she is again spouting off their socialist/communist/Chavez excrement. What a sad lonely luney she/he is. The good part is we can just ignore the rantings, have fun with she/he and go on with our lives in this Christian nation. Thank God for this Christian nation and the right it gives 1/3 to spew vomit.

Posted on December 12, 2010 at 3:51pm@13thGenerationCommie What?!?! You don’t like it much when conservatives start to use the same tactics as you and your socialist/commie friends? If you think businesses are afraid of your 20% fringe, wait till the 75% of the nation that are Christian decide to flex our economic muscle. WE SURROUND YOU! not the other way around heathen :)

Posted on December 12, 2010 at 6:22pmInapproriate to force Christianity upon others.
I’ll be celebrating Jesus Christ birthday on December 25 with a birthday cake and simple gifts for the family. The holy spirit is in all of us that receive it. I find the retail hype of Christmas out of character with the birth of Christ. Why should we gauge the economy by how much money is wasted for Christmas? Are you giving gifts for the purpose of receiving gifts? Then express anger to those who fail to give what you wanted? That’s selfish. Giving people what they don’t need is ignorant. Wasteful spending, another secular

Posted on December 13, 2010 at 12:12amFocus on the spirit of Christmas. I applaud retailers who don’t exploit Christmas with giant secular and pagan displays. Christmas has turned into a huge commercial event. Instead of complaining about stores they should be encouraging people to stay at home with their families and go to their churches on days other than Sunday not advising where to shop and enabling the status quo of gift giving and materialism .

Posted on December 13, 2010 at 5:46amWhen anyone can show me in the Bible where I am to celebrate Christ’s birthday I will gladly point out to people that they are wrong. Jesus said “do this in remembrance of me” and I do, every Sunday.

Posted on December 13, 2010 at 11:26pmMerry Christmas everyone. I think what you all need to understand is the origin of the Christmas Holiday. I am a Christian. Read Deuteronomy 12:30-31 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods. Now, look up the origin of Christmas. Did you know Christmas was banned in the US as a pagan Holiday. The truth is Christ was never in Christmas. What holy days did He celebrate? Remember Christian means Christ like. Question with boldness. Do not accept things just because you were taught a certain way. Learn the truth then judge for yourself. Believe it or not it all goes back to the tower of Babel and Nimrod. If you hate to hear this, just wait till you learn the true origins of Easter. Be honest, what do the Christmas traditions, other than the Nativity, have to do with Christ? When was Christmas incorporated into Christianity? When did the Roman census and tax collection take place? What pagan holiday was centered around the winter soltace? Question with boldness. Do you really want to defend something that God views as an abomination? All the information is available, if you will take the time to look.
