TX Prof. Resigns, Then Asks for Job Back, After Muslim Students Complain He Called Islam a ‘Cult’

A college professor in Dallas, Texas, has resigned under pressure following controversial in-class remarks he made about Islam. Prior to his departure, Paul Derengowski, a philosophy teacher at Tarrant County College, had instructed a few philosophy and religion courses at the local college.

Two Muslim students who were in one of these courses apparently went to college administrators to complain about commentary and instruction that they found immensely offensive. The students claimed that Derengowski called Islam a cult and that he had posted “inflammatory” images on his web site.

Below, see a screen shot of his site (Islam, among other faith systems, is listed as a “cult”):

Paul Derengowski Resigns After Anti Muslim Comments From Tarrant County College

Now, following his resignation, Derengowski wants his job back. However, he apparently isn’t willing to comply with requirements that he stop holding a biased view in the classroom.

In an interview with KDFW-TV, he was open about his Christian faith as well as his anti-Islamic views. In describing his web site he said, “I am defending the Christian faith. Christians are not supposed to stand by and just let that go. So that’s what you see on my website.”

Additionally, he maintained that he doesn’t believe that professors can truly remain neutral in the classroom, though he admitted that this is a common expectation. He says that the Muslim students involved in this situation are attempting to ruin his reputation and that they are lying about him.

In addressing the claims that he’s a bigot, he flatly denounced the assertion. “A bigot is somebody who doesn’t look at the information,” he said. “They’ve got their mind made up. Nobody’s gonna change their mind come hell or high water.”

Watch Derengowski make these claims on KDFW, below:

And here’s a longer version of the report:

Derengowski posted an extremely long letter (13 pages) on his web site, announcing his resignation and calling the students’ actions a “terroristic act of jihad.” In the text, he published the students‘ names associated with the incident and defended himself against attacks he’s been sustaining as a result of their complaints. He made it clear that he feels it was the students who deserved reprimand.

“Instead, the administration became complicit in Randa and Mohamad’s terroristic actions,” he wrote.  ”My motives were impure, because it is not the role of an educator to warn anybody about the pitfalls and dangers of cult recruitment.  Forget what Randa and Mohamad did, which clearly violated the student code of conduct.  The professor is the problem; let’s get rid of him,” he continued.

Derengowski also wrote that the male student involved in the case had an in-class outburst that led him to file a police report. Additionally, he claimed that the female student had sent out an e-mail that he called a “character assassination.” The male student now says he feels unsafe because his name was published online.

In the conclusion to his epic resignation letter, Derengowski’s words became even more intense:

To Randa Bedair and Mohamad Khorchid, your actions betray your true characters.  Not only did you act shamefully, despicably, recklessly, and carelessly, you provided the perfect illustration of what happens to those who really and truly follow Islamic principles.  Lying, cheating, and stealing all for the sake of Allah.  Surely you must be proud.  My heart breaks for you.

The female issued a statement to FOX 4, saying, “I am a proud American and I have the right, just as any other student in the classroom, to learn what is deserved to be taught, not based off one’s hateful opinions. And certainly, have the utmost right to not feel uncomfortable sitting in a classroom which my tax dollars pay for.”

The college has been quiet about the incident, claiming that officials are still exploring the complaints.

Muslim immigration into western countries is nothing but stealth colonization and conquest.

Islam is permanently at war with us.

Would we have allowed Nazi students to intimidate a professor in a US college classroom in 1941?

Clear as day, this professor is vindicated by Randa Bedair’s bias within her own statement. According to Randa, only Islam determines what is ‘deserved’, justified or permitted to be taught.

This professor is vindicated and yes, he is absolutely within his rights to expose these cultists by their full identity to protect his own. Lan Astaslem.

This is taken directlly from the TCC Student Handbook as not being allowed:

Verbal or written statements that unlawfully defame another person; a statement is defined as defamatory if it is false and if the false statement injures the reputation of the other person, and if the speaker has the constitutionally required state of mind as set forth in the decisions of the United States Supreme Court; – this statement relates to the defamating email Randa sent to the entire class.

      Disruptive Behavior in the Classroom
The faculty, staff and administration of Tarrant County College believe that one of the responsibilities of the College is to provide the best possible learning environment for students. The primary learning environment is the classroom. The lack of consideration for others shown by students who create disruption and distractions in classes by inappropriate and untimely laughing and talking, general inattentiveness, and tardiness is not acceptable behavior. All electronic devices should be turned off during class unless prior approval is received from the instructor. – This statement relates to Mohamad to continually distrupted the class even after Professor D spoke him about this diruptions. Mohamad secretly recorded the class and it’s stated in the syllabus (approved by TCC) this is not allowed.

One of his students – who is Muslim but didn’t want to be on camera – emailed to say when it was time to learn about Islam that Derengowski, “…seemed to be choosy about what he was teaching and left out a lot of important points. He taught it with his own perspective and it was very obvious that he felt some resentment towards the religion.”

I am a student from Paul’s class – this is a false statement from one of the Muslim students – we weren’t taught anything about Islam religion because of these two students. Profess D started with the history of Islam beginning with Mohamad their Prophet. The class was only able to make it through 2 slides of the lectures – the two students like us being taught that their Prophet Mohamad killed people. Professor D had, in class, books written by Muslim scholars and their own Quaran. Our syllabus stated two classes were to be used for studying Islam and that didn’t happen.

“Religions on the other hand all preach love, understanding and tolerance of others.”
Nonsense. Philosophies may teach love, understanding and tolerance but religions that claim divine revelation act on divine directives. The Jews did not love, understand or tolerate the indigenous people living in the Promised Land but massacred them all, including their cattle, by God’s express command. (BTW, these were the alleged ancestors of the Palestinians/Philistines) The history of inter-Christian warfare is legendary: Roman Catholics did not tolerate Protestants and vice versa. Of course now they have practically amalgamated into a hybrid. Hindus have a long history of intolerance up unto today. Mormons famously wiped out non-believers in Utah. Islam has a small book called the Koran which is unambiguous as to what God expects: unless you are a Muslim, you, your family and all your possessions belong to Muslims, either to use or eradicate. I don’t understand why it is so difficult to grasp that Muslims have the courage of their convictions, they REALLY believe, and Westerners need to see things through their eyes in order to be prepared for the inevitable conflict. Islam’s golden age was when desert bandits swept over the Middle East and TOOK everything. Beware. We are the toy department and they are the eager children. Lock and load.

Besides, we all know that the media there and here to a large degree does all they can to note terrorists who are WHITE MEN and not Muslim despite the fact that people with even the slightest notion of common sense know terrorism existed long before Islam did.

Leave it to liberal secularists who claim to hate religion to be Islam’s primary defense net.

      “you sure about that??

In a question-and-answer section of his manifesto, Breivik asks himself, “What should be our civilisational [sic] objectives, how do you envision a perfect Europe?”
His answer is hardly the response of a “Christian utopian”: “‘Logic’ and rationalist thought (a certain degree of national Darwinism) should be the fundament [sic] of our societies. I support the propagation of collective rational thought but not necessarily on a personal level.””

And he also said he wanted to re-establish Christendom and kick all the Muslims out of Norway and leave it for Christians. He calls himself a Christian multiple times, while refuting it. Again: he’s crazy. Or a Christian Darwinist?

You can rationalize it all you want, but if you’re going to use some of his words, use them all. I think it makes infinitely more sense that a warped mind is warped and will use any and all justifications for its lunacy.

Frankly, after the comments he made after resigning I wouldn’t hire him back either. Islam is a cult and it’s not bigoted nor hateful to say so but calling students terrorists for complaining about him is simply dumb. Complaints do not terrorists make. The labeling of them as terrorists for bitching about his lecture is cheapening the harsh reality of real terrorism and cheapening the sacrifice of so many of my brothers and sisters who have died fighting real terrorism. Of course my personal opinion is that all muslims who truly follow the Q’uran are in fact terrorists because it teaches killing infidels which are all non-muslims. There is no getting around that fact.

The truth shall set you free… and it hurts sometimes ! The attributes of a cult are:
    1. A leader (dead or alive) who is considered absolutely infallible.
    2. Proscribed food and dress that everyone must adhere to.
    3. Repetitive and frequent sessions to reinforce behaviour.
    4. Violent and often brutal treatment of backsliders or people that wish to leave the cult.
    5. A cult tells you what God is like. No individual contact with God is allowed.
    6. Regulation of every aspect of the day, from dawn to dusk.
    7. The leader often breaks his own rules that he has set for the others.
    8. Outsiders are demonised and cult members are discouraged from contact or friendship with people outside the cult.
    9. Cults are never tolerant of others .
    10. Obsessive ways of doing things are a hallmark of a cult.
These are all tenets of Islam .

If your child then voiced concern with the administration and had the horrible Muslim censured, I‘m sure you’d be very pleased. And then if that dirty Muslim called your child a barbarian Christian bigot, I would assume you’d hate that repulsive Muslim even more. If this scenario seems about right to you, then you are a complete hypocrite.

“Biased views? He was telling the truth about Islam.”

Even if so (and it depends on his criteria of “cult” as used in the discussion, as this is not mentioned in the article), he was completely in the wrong to rant about his students, label them terrorists, and name them online. There is no way someone like that should have a job as an educator.

Calling students terrorist just because they dont agree with you is just so wrong. Giving their name in public, even worse.

I wonder why any student did not file police report that if they get harm then that teacher is responsible.

He does not deserve being teacher. This is not the behavior of teacher. He is just so bad. Whatever his views are, you just dont do this with your students just to prove your innocence. Bad bad bad teacher.

All religions are cults. They are doctrines made up by men to control people. That is why there is so many sects. There is one doctrine given to us from God,that faith and obedience in Christ = Salvation.

      ************************
You basically contridict yourself..you state that all religions are cults…yet christ is salvation..
YOU SAID ALL RELIGIONS ARE A CULT….SORRY TO TELL YOU THAT THIS INCLUDES CHRISTIANITY…. Personally I believe religions, all religions, are man’s way to control other men…period. Look at the crusades…thank heavens the Christian religious cult has matured since then. However, I don‘t know that even at it’s darkest hour Christianity was ever as dark and low as Muslims/Islam
. We know humanity needs a tether and believing in a religion helps us deal with how, why we are here and where we may or may not go after this existance.. we need a “reason” and religion provides this “reason” for many.
THE PROFESSOR SHOULD NOT NOT NOT HAVE RESIGNED!!!..THAT WAS GIVING IN AND SAYING “MUSLIMS” YOU WIN…
We need to stand our ground, realize these people are low lifes and out to destroy our way of life. Muslims follow the religion/cult of a pediophile/rapists, what else can we expect.
There are no excetions…those that read and follow the koran…are “all” the same.
Yes, he sould get his job back, quit whining and get on with life and take a stand to teach not pontificate…teach the facts

“We need to stand our ground, realize these people are low lifes and out to destroy our way of life. Muslims follow the religion/cult of a pediophile/rapists, what else can we expect.”

      Just to follow this logic…
      1. Mary, the mother of Jesus, is agreed by most scholars to have been betrothed at 7-9, wed at 11-13, impregnated by 13-14 years of age, and giving birth no later than 14 years of age.
      2. Mormonism, often called a Christian religion by its followers and the media, claim God has a physical body and had actual sex with Mary to conceive His son, Jesus.
      3. Following this logic, Mormons believe God to be an adulterer as well as conceiving with a 13-14 year old girl.

I just want to make sure that you agree that Mormonism is based on a foundation of paedophilia and rape as well?

“I don’t understand why you singled it out.”

Why did you single out Islam, and go out of your way to condemn it? You say that you don’t think, even at its worst, the Christian cult was ever as bad as Islam; yet when you condemn Islam, you do so with terms that also apply to “Christian” sects. I’m trying to get you to see that you have blinders on when saying “Oh, they’re all man-made, but one is worse than another even though they are both guilty of the same criticism.”

Please if you would, cite the lying, cheating and stealing ways of these men – I would love to know…BILLY GRAHAM? YOU CAN’T BE SERIOUS – DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS MAN? ARE YOU SERIOUSLY TRYING TO COMPARE HIM TO OSAMA BIN LADEN? REALLY?

GodBlessOurShysters . . . I’m not gonna give you a history lesson, but I’ll point you in the right direction.

Pat Robertson? Planes and diamond mines, tax evasion, an illegitimate son
Jerry Falwell? the takeover (w/ Pat Robertson) of PTL
Billy Graham? His anti-Semitic tea party w/ Nixon.
Robert Schuller? Paying out $1.8 million to a chosen few including Schuller family members while the church was in bankruptcy.

It’s all there for anyone willing to see and admit the truth, which probably leaves you out.

YOUR…are you putting tax evasion and lying on the same level as the Islamic fundamentalists on 911 murdering thousands of men, women, and children simply because of where they live (the United States)? And yes, you are going to come back with “Muslims died too”. Absolutely…but, so did Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, etc. The caveat, if I have to spell it out…it happened in the UNITED STATES of AMERICA. After that, there is no doubt that those who committed that attack believed in their hearts and minds in the Koran, and they did what they did for Allah. For the Koran tells them so…

“Derengowski posted an extremely long letter (13 pages) on his web site, announcing his resignation and calling the students’ actions a “terroristic act of jihad.” In the text, he published the students‘ names associated with the incident and defended himself against attacks he’s been sustaining as a result of their complaints. He made it clear that he feels it was the students who deserved reprimand.”

Yeah, this guy sounds like a fantastic person to have in charge of teaching children. I don’t think he should have been fired for calling Islam a cult (depending on the definition and explanation used, it fits), but after doing something as foolish as naming students and labeling them terrorists, there’s no way he should be rehired. That’s something you expect from a jilted teenage ex, not from a professional educator.

Double edge sword strikes again! So, it’s OK for far left professors to be biased in their lectures, but it’s not OK for this guy to be biased against muslims? Further, I’m amused that this muslim female student is appalled that she has deserves the right to larn and be taught correctly, not based on someone’s hateful opinions, as well as sitting in the classroom that her tax dollars pay for…
Does she really pay taxes or is she just saying that to sound important. And why is it not OK that this guy speaks his mind when again, the far left professors can get away with whatever the hell they want?

Check out Youtube…so many videos that cite this same information from clerics themselves…so little time…I am surprised they have time to make these videos between the forced marriages to 12 year old girls, honor killings of their wives and suicide bombings all in the name of Allah – the great and wonderful deliverer of “peace”.
