TX Woman Arrested After Allegedly Trying to Sell Her Baby on Craigslist (And She’s Not the First to Try)

Back in October, a 33-year-old New Jersey woman was charged with trying to sell her newborn on Craigslist because she didn’t want another baby, and preferred instead to go to Disney World, police said.
While she reportedly wanted $15,000 for the infant, a Texas woman has recently been arrested who apparently tried to get $4,000 for doing the same thing.
New York Daily News has more information:
An interested buyer, Megan Heichelbeck of Florida, traveled to Dallas after seeing the ad, which she said set the price for the 4-month old at $4,000. But the would-be buyer got cold feet and called police, NBCdfw reported.
Police located the baby when managers of the apartment complex where the woman lived went to her home to collect back rent, and discovered the baby alone in his crib.
The mother returned shortly afterward and was arrested on charges of child abandonment, a felony offense. She was taken into custody for questioning.

Police say 26-year-old Brittany Hill is the mother in question, and the prospective buyer has actually come to her defense.
“She was just looking for someone who could take care of him and do the things that needed to be done,” Heichelbeck told local station WFAA-TV. “She was very honest about all that. I don’t think she had any intention of sending him anywhere.”
Heichelbeck also clarified that she was looking to adopt the baby, not just buy him, and will likely try again when the baby is no longer in the custody of Child Protective Services.
In 2010 another man tried to sell his son on Craigslist, but his advertisement was a little more disturbing than Hill’s. Watch ABC’s account of the matter, below:

If she didn‘t want it or if she couldn’t have taken care of it than why not? Back in the depression people just left their kids on door steps and not four month olds either, they were all ages. Hasn’t anyone seen Annie? If we live in a day and age where someone can afford adoption or afford a baby on “Craig’s” list than why not? Because the government has to tack us. Has anyone see “whistleblower” where the girl being sold in to slavery (SEX) and they could not help her due to the fact she didn’t have paperwork identifying who she was. That was based off a true story and that was NATO. Don’t tread on me what is really wrong with this? If this was allowed to happen I think there might be alot less abortions in the nation and would put robbing business Adoption agencies out of business.
