U.K. Considers Banning ‘Burn-A-Koran’ Pastor Terry Jones From Country

Britain is considering banning Florida pastor Terry Jones, best known for threatening to burn the Koran this fall, from entering the country to share his thoughts on Islam.

Britain‘s Home Secretary Theresa May told Sky News in London on Sunday that she’s considering the ban because of Jones’s views on Islam and Muslim extremism. Jones intends to preach at a February 5 event for the English Defense League (EDL) and will speak “against the evils and destructiveness of Islam.”

May spoke about Jones‘s visit to London’s Sky News on Sunday: “Pastor Terry Jones has been on my radar for a few months now. It wasn‘t clear that he was definitely coming to the UK but if it is now clear that he’s definitely coming to the UK, then of course this is a case that I will be actively looking at.”

Activists across Europe have been calling on the government to ban Jones from the country. The group Hope Not Hate says Jones should be barred because “only extremists will benefit from his visit.”

“As we have tried to relay many times, we are by no means against Muslims,” May told Sky. “What we are against is Sharia law and Muslims not willing to submit to the constitution.”

And while Sky reports EDL events have degenerated into violence in the past, Jones says he has no intention of that happening.

“I would by no means advocate something that would cause a riot or disturbance,” he said.

According to the Guardian, the Home Secretary can bar someone from entering if he threatens national security or the safety of British citizens, or promotes terrorism. However, any decision to deny entry could be overturned by an immigration tribunal.

      I dont think he was ever a union leader – but active in the Labour Party since his 20′s. Trained as a teacher in London (a union incubation pot) but then was elected to local governemnt abd has been a full time politician / activist since age 28 in 1973.

    Part of the problem is the Conservative governement’s view of the EDL (English Defence League). Prime Minister Cameron is in a real box here having slandered them previously as an agitator group, backing instead the UAF (United Against Fascism) led by Ken Livingstone (AKA Red Ken). The recent riots in Britain have actually been caused in part by the UAF, part of a loose coalition of the looney left in the UK.

    Whereas i thought Jones idea was too extreme it nevertheless brought some needed balance to a debate being dominated in the US by left-wing media types.

    I came here from England in 1996 and do not miss it at all, it was screwed up then and has only got worse since ! Sad thing is I can see the same mistakes that the English goverment made are been repeated here. It makes for a very bitter and resentful population, hope it’s not too late to change the outcome here in the USA.

Also those who publicly proclaim their sexual orientation as a civil right are in my opinion arrogant.     I don’t understand why the guy thinks he must fight this battle. The Bible dosen’t tell us to go out and preach about all the enemies of Christ, but it does tell us to preach the gospel (means; good news) of Christ and our being restored to favor of God the Father. That’s what the cross did for us. It made atonement for our battle with God. Atonement (means at-one-ment) with a God that we pissed off and Jesus cut a deal to let us back in the house again. If that preacher would stick to that message, instead of a message of condemnation, he’d have much more inner peace and power in his life. IMO :)

      Why do we care? It’s simple .. this is a gross and disgusting display of political correctness. Banning an American Citizen from speaking his mind is ridiculous. Sure, it’s their nation. They can destroy it as they see best fit. HOWEVER if they DON’T want to destroy their nation .. they need to let free speech and the power of the human mind/logic take over. How do you do this? It’s simple .. let people gather up as much info as possible on various topics then let them form their own opinions on each subject! You CAN’T accomplish this however by stifling people and banning them from your country. What you get when you do that is a controlled police state where the people only hear what you WANT them to hear.

      I agree with him, the koran is a demonically inspired hate book which has inspired the death of millions. Book burning, however, is when the government burns all of a books it doesn’t like. This man only was going to burn one book in protest. Both protest and freedom of speech used to be allowed in this country. Not so much any more I’m afraid.

      Tired, I will not comment on anything other than a single remark you made. If you believe that the paths are many then I suggest you might take your own advice and read the Bible. I can supply you at least 5 clear verses that say Christ is the ONLY way. I would suggest you start with John chapter 14, pay particular attention to 14:6.

      I really hate this argument because it should not be an argument. It is wishful thinking. The Bible CLEARLY states this doctrine, the only way out us if you do not believe the Bible or take it literally. If I felt that way then I am afraid that I would most likely join MrButcher. Why would you believe in the resurrection of Christ if you cannot believe what Christ Himself said?
