U.K. Schools Eliminate Witches Black Hats for Promoting Racism Among Children?

It seems nothing — from the traditional dress of age-old children’s storybook characters to the very sheet of paper those stories are written on — is above the scrutiny and condemnation of those seeking to push a politically correct agenda and tie even the most seemingly innocent of things to an assault on racial “equality.”

That’s correct, according to diversity and equality “experts,” the Wicked Witch of the West (or at least witches in general), promotes racism among children simply because she dons a black hat. Likewise, the pale, glistening colors typically worn by “fairies” — those ethereal creatures of middle earth so often portrayed in sweetness and light — are merely calculated, cynical wardrobe choices intended to dupe children into believing that all things light, or white, in color are inherently “good.”

Now, to combat that perceived threat, primary school teachers in Britain are allegedly being encouraged by equality advocates to censor fictional children’s characters, eliminating witches’ black pointed hats in favor of white ones, while dressing fairies in dark colors. Proponents of this technique claim the method will eliminate “racism” in children as young as two.

But that’s not all. Even white writing paper has come under fire. The Telegraph reports:

Another staple of the classroom – white paper – has also been questioned by Anne O’Connor, an early years consultant who advises local authorities on equality and diversity.

Children should be provided with paper other than white to draw on and paints and crayons should come in “the full range of flesh tones”, reflecting the diversity of the human race, according to the former teacher.

These rather drastic-sounding measures to ensure racial equality among children are reportedly outlined in a series of guides in “Nursery World” magazine.

Without providing any scientific proof to support the assertion, the guides posit that young children could possess the inclination to express racist views — and that it is therefore the obligation of nursery school teachers to help the children “unlearn” these undesirable traits.

Eerily, the term “unlearn” conjures images of uninstalling software programs on your laptop — or, perhaps more pointedly — the reconditioning sequence made famous in the movie A Clockwork Orange, in which the protagonist’s mind is wiped “clean” of thoughts deemed socially unacceptable, thereby erasing his free will.

One of the alleged goals of the program is to form positive association with dark colors. The Telegraph reports that this “anti-bias” method was developed in the U.S. as part of special interest group’s multiculturalism agenda.

That method, promising to challenge racism, sexism and ageism, has now traveled across the pond, infiltrating at least a portion of the British school system. O‘Connor has reportedly developed material for Lancashire council’s childcare service:

“This is an incredibly complex subject that can easily become simplified and inaccurately portrayed,” she said.

“There is a tendency in education to say ‘here are normal people and here are different people and we have to be kind to those different people’, whether it’s race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age or faith.

“People who are feeling defensive can say ‘well there’s nothing wrong with white paper’, but in reality there could be if you don’t see yourself reflected in the things around you. “As an early years teacher, the minute you start thinking, ‘well actually, if I give everyone green paper, what happens’, you have a teaching potential.

“People might criticise this as political correctness gone mad. But it is because of political correctness we have moved on enormously. If you think that we now take it for granted that our buildings and public highways are adapted so people in wheelchairs and with pushchairs can move around. Years ago if you were in a wheelchair, then tough luck. We have completely moved and we wouldn’t have done that without the equality movement.”

Not everyone is in agreement with color-mania, however. Margaret Morrissey, a spokeswoman for the advocacy group Parents Outloud told the Telegraph, “I’m sure these early years experts know their field but they seem to be obsessed about colour and determined to make everyone else obsessed about it too.”

“Not allowing toy witches to wear black seems to me nonsense and in the same vein as those people who have a problem with ‘Bar Bar Black Sheep’ or ‘The Three Little Pigs’. Children just see a sheep in a field, whether it be black, grey, white or beige. I have worked with children for 41 years and I don’t believe I have ever met a two year old who was in any way racist or prejudice.”

Meanwhile, it might be worth pointing out that, at least in Technicolor, the most infamous witch of all was in fact the color green.

    Somewhere Harry Potter weeps. Good they should ban it for obvious reasons. I know of no good witch and have meet a few wicans and warlocks. Oh but it’s “white magic”, not “black magic”…sound racist to me. LOL And that is how they promote their religion. Yep, I said it, it is they who heap coals on their own heads…each and every time they deviate from Judeo/Christian values and principles.

      Witch is the term for any follower (male or female) of the Wiccan religion which is based upon old celtic (and other) beliefs. Warlock is a term for “traitor” and does not refer to a male witch. A female can be a warlock if she has betrayed the trust of her coven or friends.

      Witch is a term to describe any practitioner of the Wiccan religion be they male or female. Warlock is a term meaning traitor. A female who betrays her coven or friends can be called a warlock.

    Soon all newly born infants will have to under go a surgical transformation called..deaf, dumb and blind syndrome. Doctors will remove the eyes, the ears and tongues of all new born’s. This will prevent any further undue politically correct incidents for future generations. The hands may also be cut off if the child ever touches anything that may cause a politically incorrect judgment as well. The nose may smell something and send it to the brain, so off with the nose too. The feet may carry this person into a politically incorrect place, so off with the feet. and on and on it will go, until there is nothing left but a strand of hair.     So I gather from this that now these objects are racist…The Sky, its dark at night and not day, thats racial, The Sun, we only say the phrase “sunlight” we never say “sundark”, racial, The Earth during Summer, its lighter out longer than its dark, My bathroom in the morning, when its dark, I sometimes stub my toe, but not when its light, therefore my brain says “hey all black things will hurt me”, my stove in my kitchen, it;s black, i bought it, and it cooks things, yep racial also, hey this is pretty fun. I’m sooo glad we dont have stupid people in america that come up with things like this..haha that would be something kinda crazy huh…(I wasnt going to use this racially motivated Black lettering, but it shows up on this racist white background better than clear letters do)

    When you think that things can’t get anymore ridiculous, they always do. I’m a grannie, with a young granddaughter. I also collect child-like fairies figures in my decorating scheme for my guest bathroom. My very young granddaughter has contributed to my collection three times. One of those times, she gave me an African American fairy. Did she notice or care that the fairy was Black? I doubt it. In her preschool, her very best friend was a Black boy. She liked him because he was nice to her. She’s only six years old now. I really don’t believe that she has notice a “thing” about racial differences. In her World, people have different colors of skin, eyes, and hair. It doesn’t matter to her at all. No grandparent or parent has taught her that people who are Black are “less” than her. She sees all children – the same as her.

Some people drink black coffee, I bet it’s because their racist. If I put trash in a black trash bag does that make me a racist? In case these fools didn’t realize, it’s a little difficult to see graphite or ink on black paper, and since that is all they had to write with for centuries, maybe that is why the paper was white? Ya think idiot! The association between dark and light comes from the fact that night(being darker) was more intimidating than day (which is lighter) has nothing to do with race morons. OK I agree liberalism is a mental disorder.

    I noticed green paper was mentioned in the article….forget green…we‘ve spent all our hard earned dollars on green things and it hasn’t worked out. If we change our paper to black we are going to need new pencils too. Isn’t it easier to let kids be kids. I see this as more of an excuse to promote evil than anything else by saying to kids all things one color or the other are bad. I guess this is where the divide and conquer comes in. Who in their right mind would see a witches hat as racist?

    There really are a great deal of racist messages in movies from the late 1930′s Snow White, for example is profoundly Nordophobic: all of the dwarves have brown eyes except for the mentally deficient Dopey. Also, the only non-Dwarf character with blue eyes is the Wicked Queen. Given the date of Snow White (1939) is is clear that the Nordophobic symbolism is related to combating Hitlerian racial notions. Still, even with such an admirable objective, is it excusable for American cinema to have lowered itself to the same level as the Nazis?
