U.K. Woman’s Giant Amputated Leg Begins to Grow Back!

Mandy Sellars from the waist up may be a size 12, due to a rare condition, from the waist down she is three times her normal size. When one of her legs became infected, threatening her life, she had it amputated. And now, it’s beginning to grow back.

Woman With Rare Condition Has Leg Amputated, Now Its Growing Back

Mandy Sellers before she had surgery to amputate an infected leg.

According to the Daily Mirror, just 22 months after the operation, Sellars leg is growing back very fast, already weighing 42 pounds and measuring 1 meter around:

Mandy said: “I hoped the amputation would stabilise my condition but I think I knew in my heart that it would start growing again.

“Almost straight away the stump began increasing in circumference and I was finding it harder to fit it into my prosthetic leg.

“Then the stump got so heavy that it broke the prosthetic leg.”

The Daily Mail reports that Sellars syndrome is similar to Proteus syndrome, which can cause overgrowth of skin, bones, muscle and other tissues. With both legs at full size, Sellars weighed 224 pounds, according to the Daily Mail, and comments from onlookers can be hurtful:

“In a restaurant one blurted out, “look at the size of those feet”.

“I don’t mind children staring, but adults should know better.”

For now, Sellars told the Mirror that she’ just living day to day and trying to maintain her independence by being mobile.

I can not think of anything more horrible than this! See how normal her upper body is? Makes you wonder why they don’t get scientists from all over the world to work with her, help her and ultimately maybe they can learn enough to use that knowledge to not only help her but maybe help other “regular” amputees regrow lost limbs…possible? Who knows…I’ve never heard of anything like this before…

All I can say to those who would make light of this poor soul’s plight in any manner at all is that you are a total idiot without an ounce of humanity.

To those who attribute the comments by these idiots to their Christianity, you are also idiots. I saw no proof required of being a Christian when I signed up for The Blaze.

Lastly, I would like to say that I feel a whole lot more compassion and sorrow for this poor woman than I do for 10,000 sorry-assed, lazy bums who want free handouts and won’t work hard at honest jobs and who would rather be rabble rousers in the streets as we see in the so called Occupied gatherings.

Nations spend and waste so much on weapons. Just think of the cures that could be found and people helped if just a fraction of the world wide defense spending was used to help people. Even Third World nations want to defend their suffering people against wealthy invaders. who could turn their nations around.

This girl may hold the key to stem cell research that will unlock the growing of limbs..Perhaps there is something off in her DNA ..I would say that there is hope for her to be normal..She is definitely getting the attention…Hopefully the Mayo Clinic or some super investigative medical research center could help her and help all humanity at the same time..Good luck Mandy and God Bless.

That guy rips off soooo many people it is sad that people could be so gullible! My brother and his wife kept sending him a minimum of $1000/month thinking that they would “plant a seed” when all they were doing was attempting financial gain. They had to file bancruptcy and lost everything including the house. This guy dupes so many people trying to be “healed”. Why doesn’t hinn go to hospitals and make people better? Because he is a false teacher! Yeah! He is very wealthy. Read your bible and stop being shafted by all these greedy, so-called pastors and healers. Also, read “christianity in crisis” by hank hannegraff. (think that last name is spelled correctly. I’m gone!

Christ is perfect, people that follow Jesus Christ can try to be excellent… but because we all suffer from the same human condition we fail.

@Bakko Bomma “Interesting comments from the primarily CHRISTIAN audience of The Blaze.”

Of course, you mean such comments as:

“Never heard of anything like this. Must be a horrid way to live.”

“Maybe they can find out what is causing this to happen”

“I would like to say that I feel a whole lot more compassion and sorrow for this poor woman than …”

“Just think of the cures that could be found and people helped if just a fraction of the world wide defense spending was used to help people.”

“Seeing this makes our own problems seem minor.”

And those are just from the top post (not the first, due to TheBlaze’s screwy display design). I wouldn’t characterize them as “interesting” … maybe more like “compassionate”. So thanks for the compliment, Bakko! :)

Because Socialized medicine has no place in a Free Republic and a Free Market. The European way of life that so many overly educated Americans salivate over does not work in our current system. Keep that crap in Europe, it failed there and will definitely fail here so why try to bastardize our free market so some bleeding hearts can feel good about themselves. Our country is based on an Individualism system which is more fair and prosperous then any other system in history and to many people think they know better than our founders. Just a bunch of useful idiots who don’t have a clue. Socialized medicine harms more than it helps it is a proven fact. In Europe people wait year to see a doctor sometimes, I only have to call and I get in with in 24 hours. I pay for my healthcare and should not have to pay for other peoples. That is what charity is for. When you force a person to pay for something it no longer is charity. It also removes incentive to work hard. The problem with our country is too many idiots have become lazy and decided to live at the expense of another man and that is not American that is European. Entitlements have no place in the USA. Entitlements are a Socialist Ideology, we are a Republic, Not a Socialist country, we are not a Democracy regardless of what our current ****** of a president says or what the mainstream media says. Entitlements are no different than stealing, lazy people who live off the taxpayer are looters, they are one in the same.

Out of the 26 possible (whatever you call it, antibodies?) she had 24. They wrote off her treatment because it was something they would never see again. All she paid for was a normal delivery. I would seriously look into complete amputation at the waist. She would be ALOT better off (in my humble opinion) with no legs at all, using a motorized wheel chair to get around. It would certainly be better and easier to deal with than the issue she has now. Plus, people would be ALOT less likely to stare if she were legless in a wheel chair rather than the extraordinarily sized limbs. I’m sure the health care costs would be less overall should she just have both limbs removed for good rather than continous doctor visits over many years with the same condition.
