U.N. General Assembly Approves Giving Libya’s Seat to Ex-Rebels

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The U.N. General Assembly voted Friday to give Libya‘s seat in the world body to the former rebels’ National Transitional Council which led the rebellion that ousted Moammar Gadhafi.
The resolution was approved Friday by a vote of 114-17 with 15 abstentions, revealing divisions in Africa and Latin America over who should represent Libya.
A left-leaning Latin America trade group opposed giving the seat to the former opposition forces, with Venezuela accusing NATO forces of carrying out “criminal air raids … in order to install a puppet government.” Southern Africa’s main regional bloc opposed giving the National Transitional Council credentials immediately but failed to win support to defer a vote.
The General Assembly’s credentials committee had unanimously recommended that the former rebels be seated.
The vote in favor means that the National Transitional Council will be able to speak for Libya at next week’s ministerial meeting of the General Assembly.

Very sensible, since the ex-rebells are going to establish a society based on truth, justice and the Ameri… uhm just a moment… what’s that you say… they want Sharia law? Oh well what the heck, sure why not? They still appreciate our help, respect our values and promise to promote America’s goals for peace in the middle east, right?
Next order of U.N. business: How about GTFO and move your socialist Islamic jihadist sharia law loving U.N to Libya? Now that would make sense!
