U.S. Authorities Charge Radical Muslims for Threats Against ‘South Park’ Creators

“South Park” has a history of — and a penchant for —  being offensive.  The show’s writers regularly focus upon and make fun of various religions, political leaders and celebrities.  But, for two young Muslim men, the show’s portrayal of the Prophet Mohammad was simply too much to bear.  Thus, Zachary Adam Chesser and  Jesse Curtis Morton have both landed themselves in hot water.

According to CNN, back in February, Chesser, 21, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for posting threats online.  Enraged over “South Park’s” portrayal of Mohammad in a bear suit, Chesser encouraged jihadists to go after the show’s writers — literally.  He posted the writers’ address, asking readers to “pay them a visit.”

Now, a criminal complaint along the same lines has been issues against Morton (who also goes by the name Younus Abdullah Mohammad):

In an affidavit accompanying the recent complaint against Morton, FBI special agent Paula R. Menges said Morton, co-founder of the group called Revolution Muslim, worked with Chesser on a “clarification statement” after Chesser’s postings. The pair made website postings that were — despite their claims — threats, Menges said.

The agent also contends the statement contained pages of justification under Islamic law for the death of those who insult Islam or defame its prophet.

Unfortunately, Morton is believed to be in Morocco where he runs a website that touts pro al-Qaeda content.  Authorities claim that they’ll arrest Morton should he come back to the U.S. or travel to a nation that has accommodating extradition policies.  Below, watch CNN’s Anderson Cooper explain this bizarre situation.  In the video, Morton (in a 2009 interview) says that Muslims are “…commanded to terrorize the disbelievers.”

    I have watched many south park episodes and never have I laughed so hard in my life. The creators of this art of simple animation, clever, whitty and totally spot on satire of todays world, is pricless. I laugh just thinking about what they create and call it “art”. It’s the flintstones of the 60s on steroids.

    South Park writers are not THAT brave. They routinely make fun of Jesus, Christianity, and Mormons. They rarely say anything against Islam or big Mo. It is a funny show but their bravery is suspect. Let’s see them really aggravate the muslims. I bet they will not.

    The Prophet Mohammad in a bear suit doesn’t sound that edgy to me. If they were looking for a more realistic portrayal of Muslims, perhaps stoning young teen rape victims would be a bit more dead on and edgy.

    its time we stopped treating this as a muslim extreamist problem. its not.       Now Beck would have issues with way of thinking because there are those ‘peaceful’ muslims here that don’t support their fellow muslims (I say their silence is consent though) who want to kill us and the western way of life. In fact they support the Constitutuion and there are those muslims that are lookin for ways to help muslims understand how to be faithful to islam under our Constitution. In other words their book the koran needs corrections to find ways to ‘bend’ islam to our Constitution (I am paraphrasing here). Now when I heard this from Zudhi Jasser during the King hearings, I thought to myself here is a problem. You should not have to ‘bend’ or ‘make corrections’ with your own holy book. In my humble opinion–get rid of it all together. It’s not compatible with our Constitutuion to begin with, we do not want to change you, so don’t try to change us. Instead, move on over to the one true word where one does not bend it for the truth is already written in a way that is very clear. The koran vs the Bible is one of lies vs truth or evil vs good. Zudhi, open your eyes, you follow pedophile and pray to evil. Let it go.

      Glenn doesn’t think being a mooslum is contrary the Constitution and probably agrees that his mooslum friends should be allowed to use sharia laws in their criminal proceedings, too.       Glad to see you guys have a sense of humor. It seems that as people become rigid in their religious beliefs, the less humor they have in their lives. I seriously believe that laughter is a gift from God and the ability to laugh at one’s self is the highest form of humor.

      At the least, one of the two has been given a lengthly time behind bars for his threats and attempts to encourage others to cause harm or murder to the creators of South Park.

      Regardless of the religious angle, and yes there is one definitly here, these two have broken laws that anyone making similar and genuine threats should be prosecuted for violation of, and if found guilty in accordance with the laws, duly sentenced.

      I hope they soon catch the second of these two so his day in court can be done.

      Christians may abhor some of the disturbing ways Jesus is depicted in “art” but I don’t know of any that killed the person responsible or goaded someone else into doing it. Why do we tread so softly when it comes to these morons who would end someone’s life because they dared to blaspheme their prophet? This nation was built on religious freedom and the freedom of expression. No you cannot yell “FIRE” in a crowded theater if no fire exists but you can paint Mohammad in fishnets and stilletos because that is what generations of Americans have fought and died for. I was speaking present day and never meant to imply that since time began no Christians–or any other religious group–had ever folded, spindled or variously mutilated others who didn’t seemingly fall into lock-step with them. You don’t have to tell me about murder done in the name of religion–it’s one of the things that keeps me generally skeptical of organized religion in the first place. Feel better now?

      As much as I dislike the creators of South Park, I would be willing to start a fourth war if any harm comes to them. This is an assault on liberal democracy that must not be tolerated

      I have never been lied to or stole from by a Muslim. The jews lie to me every day when I turn on their controlled and biased media. They steal from me every time ! use a credit card. (usury)

      At least the cops in Indiana won’t have to worry about getting search warrants to break into any mooslum houses, and they can get away with killing them if there’s a gun in the house, or a couple of dollars in a dresser drawer.

      Although the Muslims are very wrong to carry their anger with South Park to such an extreme, I think South Park is getting what it deserves. If they feel the need to ridicule people and religions for the sake of ratings, then they should be held accountable for any anguish they cause others. If they can’t take the heat, then South Park should get out of the kitchen…..or actually entertain people without insulting them. Believe it or not, it is possible to have good ratings without stooping to such negative humor. They would actually have to develop creativity in their shows and not rely on ridicule to stir up the masses.
