The midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy reacted with wild “U-S-A!” chants after hearing that it was six Navy SEALS who killed bin Laden. They eventually brought out their mascot, who body surfed among the crowd:

The Intelligence Community can now take a rare “bow,” 99 percent of the good work they do is never discussed in public. The actual operation was due to the cool & calm Paneta-overseen CIA Task team and US Navy SEALS DGA, who prepared for this since August 2010. Like a shuttle launch, the timing of this helicopter mission was based on weather conditions and low moonlight, not “politics.” The POTUS and ODNI kept the whole thing totally secret for months, and it was a surprise to bin Laden! And sure enough, he said that. Later in the video, as they scan the crowd you see someone with an Israel flag on the mezzanine. (note to midshipmen taking video: C”mon dude, what was that? All people will say stupid things at times but I’m sure that 99.9% of those cadets don’t feel that way at all. Report Post »good to know the SEALs finally had their leash unhooked and were allowed to avenge those they lost in Afghanistan a few years ago…you know these guys have been itching for payback for years
even prouder to know that my 8 year old has wanted to be a SEAL since he was four…and i intend to do whatever possible to get him into BUDS and the Academy so he can on day wear the Trident… and who knows…maybe the DEVGRU patch as well…. HOOYAH!!

Had a calculus instructor retired from Annapolis, best instructor I ever had, largely responsible for my success in graduate school. Go Navy!!

Posted on May 2, 2011 at 6:06pmSGTLMJ and VRW- It is my understanding that DevGru is made up of several special forces trained combatants…SEALS being just one. Special operations does not require SEAL training. DevGru picks and chooses the baddest of the bad, if you know what I mean, and that could include S.O. trained in deep diving, special weapons, airborne, etc. This mission was the result of that, with perhaps Delta Forces involved as well. They won’t talk or boast, so it’s purely speculation on my part…but…job well done.
