U.S. to Boycott U.N.’s Anti-Racism Conference

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The Obama administration said Wednesday it will boycott a world conference against racism being held at U.N. headquarters in September.
The United States will not participate in the 10-year commemoration of the 2001 World Conference Against Racism because the Durban process “included ugly displays of intolerance and anti-Semitism,” Joseph E. Macmanus, acting U.S. assistant secretary of state for legislative affairs, wrote in a letter to Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.
AP obtained a copy of the letter, sent Wednesday to Gillibrand and other members of Congress.
Gillibrand welcomed the administration’s decision. “It is an insult to America that the United Nations has decided to hold the Durban III conference in New York just days from the tenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks,” the New York senator said in a release Wednesday.
“We all witnessed how extreme anti-Semitic and anti-American voices took over” the original gathering in South Africa and a follow up conference, the senator wrote.
The administration’s move was also lauded by the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, an umbrella of 52 groups including B‘nai B’rith International, the Anti-Defamation League, the American Jewish Committee and Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America.
There was no immediate response to a request sent late Wednesday afternoon seeking comment from the New York office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights.
Macmanus‘ letter was responding to a letter Gillibrand had sent America’s U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice asking her to “send a strong signal” by not participating. She also applauded Canada’s earlier decision to boycott the event.
“In December, we voted against the resolution establishing this event because the Durban process included ugly displays of intolerance and anti-Semitism, and we did not want to see that commemorated,” Macmanus told the senator.
He added that in 2009 the U.S. withdrew from the planning of the conference because it reaffirmed the 2001 Durban Declaration, “which unfairly singled out Israel and included language inconsistent with U.S. traditions of robust free speech.”
The U.S. and Israel walked out of the 2001 World Conference Against Racism in the South African city of Durban over a draft resolution that criticized Israel and equated Zionism with racism.
The U.S. and at least seven other countries boycotted the 2009 follow up event that the U.N. held in Geneva, citing concerns that Islamic countries would demand a denunciation of Israel and insist that all criticism of Islam be banned.
As for this year’s event, “the United States delegation in New York has not been involved in the formal negotiations on the modalities resolution or the outcome document and has had a notetaker only in these proceedings,” the State Department letter said. “We share your concern about the Durban commemoration’s timing and venue as just days earlier, we will have held solemn ten-year memorials for those murdered in the September 11 terrorist attacks.”
The letter said that the United States is “fully committed to upholding the human rights of all people and to combating racial discrimination, xenophobia, intolerance, and bigotry.”

What the Islamists should be doing is admitting their own participation in partnering with the Nazis in slaughtering the Jews. The Muslim Grand Mufti was an ally of Hitler’s and he partnered with Hitler to exterminate the Jews!
The Egyptians are now starting a Nazi party. Quite in keeping with the Jew-hating Muslim Brotherhood whose Hamas Charter calls for wiping Israel off the face of the earth.
Of course, the Islamists are the biggest racists and oppressors of all. They seek to kill everyone who’s not a Jew-hating Islamist, or have them submit and paying the jizya (Muslim tax).

Inform them that they have 30 days to move out, because we are turning the U.N. building into something useful, like a center for non-profit charities to aid the third world. As a side benefit, we wouldn’t need to pay all those back dues we owe.

I have been e-mailing some ex military family and kin to get their oppinions of world events; they do indeed feel the UN is long past needing to go into the night. One part of interest though, is most of them also feel, based on events, there is about a 40% chance we will be seeing the beginnings of the next world war through the middle east and europe by the days of November ‘11 – Jan ‘12.

I believe it’s a good move, but I question the motives. Let’s all face it, Obama pretty much threw Israel down the stairs with his brilliant speech regarding the 1967 borders.
And as far as my understanding goes, the UN was essentially created to limit the power of our beloved country.
I’ll be paying attention with curiosity about the sincerity.

Do any of you pay any attention to Glenn at all and comprehend what he says? I don’t agree with Glenn on some things, mainly his Zionism but I do agree with the quote above he uses.
We pay the majority of the UN, we own her. The UN holding an Anti-Racism Conference will be boycotted by the US because groups who are racist will be protesting it.
Aren’t leaders suppose to LEAD? Shouldn’t we ACT by going and SPEAK out against racism, instead we will ACT by staying home and be SILENT? Then the article talks about overwhelming support by all the Jewish organizations for the US not speaking up, not acting.
Does anyone else with common sense find this odd? IMO it seems almost like we are encouraging racism with Jewish support by not speaking out against racism in the world government we created and pay for….Why would the Jewish community want us not to speak out against racism in the World Government?
Can someone explain this?

His true position was clear in his original speech. He is for a Palestinian state with Isreal giving back all lands won in the 1967 war. YES WON in a war when they were attacked on several borders and claimed to further strengthen those borders.
People forget it was the UN who establised the state of Isreal in 1948 after WW II. Now its the “perverted” UN who wants to destroy Isreal.
I agree with Glenn, the Globalists, New World Order elitists have to destroy Isreal and the US to achieve their agenda of global government and UN domination and control. That’s why they are “in bed” with the communists, socialists, jihadists, Muslim Brotherhood, etc.etc.etc.

Boot them out along with all the other occupants of the UN. Move them to Egypt since that is where the rest of the world should look to find a great example of democracy and freedom.

Now look into your own cities and see if your own city is part of or a member of ICLEI. If they are do your best to become a non-member as this too is another way for the UN to grab hold of our money.
