UFC Fighter Who Said He Wants to ‘Fight’ Obama Gets Secret Service Visit

When UFC fighter Jacob Volkmann sheepishly admitted he wanted to fight “idiot” president Barack Obama, he probably didn’t think his comment would get him a visit from the government.

It did.

Volkmann told MMAWeekly.com (via Yahoo! Sports) that on Tuesday, after his comments gained traction on the internet, Secret Service agents showed up at his house and started questioning him about his comments.

“It happened on Tuesday, I was coaching youth practice, and then two guys came up and one of the other coaches that was helping me out, they said there was a cop and another guy out there waiting for me,” Volkmann told MMAWeekly.com.

“I went out there and the guy introduced himself and said he was from the Secret Service and he wanted to ask me some questions about UFC 125 and my quote. He said there were people calling in to D.C. telling them that somebody, me, was threatening the President.”

The questioning took place while Volkmann was teaching a youth wrestling camp.

“This guy had the whole interview on a piece of paper and it had my picture and everything,” said Volkmann. “He was like ‘is this what you said?’ and I said, ‘yes it is.’ He’s like ‘I want to let you know I’m a little embarrassed for coming here and doing this because obviously nothing happened.’ He actually apologized for coming, but he had to come. He wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to D.C to hurt the President.”

He added: “The thing is, I got home and I checked my e-mail and I had about 20 e-mails and one of them, one of ladies had actually contacted the FBI and the Secret Service, and she was telling me that she was going to do it.”

Volkmann told the website that the person who reported him to the Secret Service was a member of the election committee that worked for President Obama’s campaign.

In the original interview, Volkmann, who is also a chiropractor and small business owner, expressed his displeasure with the president’s health care policy and Obamacare. Unfortunately, he said, people are seeing his frustration from his point of view:

“People were misunderstanding the point of view I was going for with the health care plan. That’s why they were getting so upset. I’m thinking about the provider, I’m a chiropractor, so I’m thinking about my point of view, not everyone getting insurance. They don’t have to worry about getting denied, which is good I guess, just not good for health care providers.”

Considering the agent apologized, Volkmann expects the issue to be over.

The interview can be viewed at MMAWeekly.com.

Mexican drug cartels have drug distribution cells all over the United States, and they come across the border and mnurder U.S. citizens, but do you think the federal government is interested in protecting its citizens? No. It’s protecting its pudative president who is letting Terry Lakin sit in solitary confinement for six months to keep from showing that the pudative president is a foreigner!

untameable-kate, we already had a democratic president do that, Wilson. Then we had another democratic president lock up American citizens because of their country of origin, F. Roosevelt. Prior to that, we had a democratic people force people of their land and marching them down the “trail of tears” despite the Supreme Court ruling they could stay, Jackson. It doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch to think the current democratic president would do something similar.

Never said dumb, just blinded. People sometimes overreact due to their views and do or say things that don’t make sense.

I guess a good example would be the NYP’s article about Obama wearing sandles. I even saw a comment here once that said entertainers should never voice an opinion on political issues and the next sentence called for another Regan.

This sounds like what happened in Nazi Germany, neighbors reporting innocent talk to the authorities. Even children were encouraged to report their parents if they heard a comment not in support of the Nazi’s. Scary isn’t it.

As long as you can show that your anger is Constitutionally justified, just make your case and point to the Second Amendment, which Obama claims to have sworn an oath to, and which specifically warns them that the People have a right to forcefully defend their freedom against government tyranny – examples of which may be found in the Declaration of Independence.

They have a duty to uphold the Constutition – it is the supreme law of the land, and the basis of the rule of law,as opposed to the rule of government whim – all nations have laws and are run by “the rule of law”, whether it‘s the King’s word as law, or the American Constitution, so that phrase has to mean that the rule of law is based on logic; the law has to make logical sense, rather than be based on precedent.

The Constitution guarantees us a fair trial and a process for a redress of grievances, which keeps the peace. So, when Obama, any other elected official, or a judge violates their oath to the Constitution, say, by reinterpreting the Constitution as if it allows government to force us to participate in commerce, it removes our ability to use the peaceable process of the Justice System because the Justice System would mistakenly believe that government can do something which would take away an unalienable right to liberty. This is why the Founders didn’t want our guns to be taken from us; They WANTED us to be able to threaten the lives of elected officials if government overstepped their authority.

So, back to the original post: Statements such as this man made (which, in his case, “knock some sense” was likely a metaphor, given that the context was about who he wanted to fight next in the Octagon), are consistent with the Second Amendment, and should not be seen as out of place, taken by itself.

considering the appology, the problem is over. No it’s not. He will be watched by the Secret service for a LONG time. If anything happens involving the pres and his area, he will be a person of interest. We had a guy at work years ago that actually sent a letter to Reagan that “could” have been taken as a threat. He was interviewed at work and for more than 3 years after that he was routinely “looked at” by the Secret service. When Clinto came to Champaighn Illinois, he was questioned again about his feels toward the pres. this was years after the fact. He WILL BE watched not from this administration but the next and the next.

Yes Nazi Germany was a terrible place. But this is not children turning in their parents. This is just someone filing a report that triggers the Secret Service to do their due diligence and visit the guy. I think this would be a real story only if they didnt do their job, or if they got extreme with it. I don’t otherwise see how this is otherwise of interest.

Funny how the Secret Service never bothered with any of the people who wished harm upon GW Bush. Filmakers, Politicians, and MSNBC presenters never received a visit from the “Men in Black”

An Obama staffer called the tip from DC? HA HA HA!!!!!! Shows that she’s got a lot going on……..

Calling him a “puppet” relegates him to the position of secondary evil. I’m not convinced that he is not the primary evil. I know about George Soros and all, but really…who’s using who?
