‘UFOs’ Drop Flare-Like Objects in Night Sky Over Utah

As many are fixated on the video of a reported UFO (unidentified flying object — not an admission of an “alien”) hovering in Jerusalem, it seems some strange lights haunted the skies over Utah last week.
Last Wednesday, three red lights appeared around 7:15 pm over American Fork, UT and seemed to hover while intermittently dropping what appeared to be flares. One witness told ABC 4 News in Utah that the lights didn’t blink and she heard no helicopter-like sounds.
“Out of the red light comes, like, a firework — the phosphorescent silver — it’s coming down out of it and I thought, ‘OK, I’ve never seen that before,” Lynette Chidester said. She added that she doesn’t believe in extraterrestrials, but she has no idea what she saw:
A video posted on YouTube gives a clearer look at the lights:
None of the local airports nor the nearby military base offered an explanation to ABC 4.
Readers might remember that similar lights appeared over Texas in October. Those lights, however, were quickly explained away as an Army Golden Knights parachute group performing a night time “pyro” jump.
The Golden Knights have so far have not claimed responsibility for the Utah lights. The group’s website puts the team in Florida at the time of the Utah mystery, and a story on the site explains the team trains in warm, sunny climates in the winter.
Similar lights seen over New York City at the time were blamed on children releasing balloons in Virginia. No word yet on if a birthday in Salt Lake reported missing balloons.

Posted on February 2, 2011 at 5:27pmOkay, seriously – has nobody here ever sent up a hot air balloon made from a dry cleaner bag? That is exactly what this looks like. In this case probably three. Back in my college days I sent up several in this exact area. We used birthday candles for fuel, and when they would burn down they would melt the straws that we used to keep the bottom of the bag open (and as a platform for the candles) and they (and the burning straws) would drop much like what you see in the video.
Very likely they are using something other than candles – I’ve heard of people using Sterno, which scares me silly. And we were known to make super-balloons by using an iron to seal multiple bags together; there are lots of possibilities.
The balloons tend to rise very quickly, and then “hover’ when the reach whatever temper gradient will support them. They quickly disappear when the fuel source burns out, melts the platform, or whatever, as the balloon “envelope” is lit from within (which is what causes it to glow).
If they catch the right wind they can move really fast, but you cannot launch them unless it is calm at ground level. Typically they find some sweet spot and sit there until burn-out.
My money is on some pranksters doing some late night “ballooning.”

Now, when I don’t trust anything about them, I find it frightening. The two most conservative bastions in America, i.e., Utah & Texas have seen this, and I can’t help thinking, “What are they testing?”.

Posted on February 2, 2011 at 4:49pmOk folks. I live just south of there I didn’t see it (Damn it!!!) As far as the notion of skydivers go. That would be a BIG NO. American Fork is a small at the foot of VERY large mountains 13-14 K ft. Skydiving in that area would be certain death, especially the temps were below zero. Hot air balloons…No Way.

Posted on February 2, 2011 at 5:26pmI don’t believe in aliens. But I did see a very similar thing two January’s ago with a friend of mine. It was above the skies of Holladay, or so it seemed as perception is hard to gauge at night (Holladay is about 20 miles North of this incident). We watched it float, not a single sound was heard, for several minutes. There was only one object, then it it flickered and flashed out like ashes and it was gone. Someone also at that time suggested Camp Williams training exercise. Sounded strange to me since it was near midnight but maybe they do drills that late.

The events your talking about – those will be a HUGE deal, but, I believe they will be no doubt as to what they are, and why – there will be no mystery to them – all will understand :)

As you see on any story, there are all kinds of responses on any given story – including some damn funny one-liners. Just depends on the person’s perspective on the topic. Me – on UFO’s – like I stated, I’m a former member of USAF, this is not big deal. In addition, you think a UFO(s) is going to come in with lights on – hahahahahahahaha – that’s a good one. Bad thing about blogs and emails is the reader can not see the writer’s facial and tonal expressions to match up to the words – and often a message is taken incorrectly.

I‘ll go out on a limb here and say I think it’s a good possibility that aliens could exist, but a lot of these videos are really easy to fake nowadays and it‘s hard to tell what’s real and what’s a hoax anymore.

Hey Jb…I’ll go out on a limb here and say that I believe in Jesus…since I do…and since I believe that God sent Him to die for my sins…then…wouldn’t Jesus have to die over and over and over again in order to die for ALL humans (or aliens) on all the planets in the ENTIRE universe? Not too likely when you consider how God does things…to say nothing about putting His son repeatedly through such a horrific death…Not trying to be a smart arse or anything…just my way of looking at it…
