Ugly But Still a Win: Tebow Pulls Out OT Victory for Broncos in Miami

Ugly But Still a Win: Tebow Pulls Out OT Victory for Broncos in Miami

The legend of Tim Tebow grows.

In his first start this year and in his home state, Tebow rallied the Denver Broncos with two touchdown passes in the final 2:44 of the fourth quarter to force overtime,  where Matt Prater’s 52-yard field goal gave them an 18-15 win Sunday over the Miami Dolphins.

“It’s tough to say, but man, Timmy did a great job,” said Dolphins center and college teammate Mike Pouncey.”Hopefully the critics will get off him about what he can’t do and talk about the things that he can do, and that’s figure out a way to win the game, no matter what.”

In the final minutes of the fourth quarter, Tebow led TD drives of 80, and 56 yards after a successful onside kick. The scrambler scored a standing 2-point conversion with 17 seconds left to tie the game.

In overtime, Denver’s D.J. Williams sacked Matt Moore to force a fumble lining up kicker Matt Prater for the game-winning kick.

The Broncos (2-4) won for the first time in the eight games they‘ve played on the Dolphins’ field. Miami (0-6) extended the NFL’s longest losing streak to nine games.

“You can’t lose confidence in yourself, or you’ve lost already,” Tebow said to the AP in regards to his shaky first half performance. “When you get knocked down, you’ve got to keep getting back up.”

When it’s all said and done, Tebow will be known as a winner. It’s great to have a person with such moral convictions in the spotlight for the young people to look up to. Those who say that they hate Tebow don’t really hate him, they actually hate what he stands for and his love of Jesus the Christ. If Tebow was an athiest they wouldn’t really care enough to be constantly attacking him like they do now. Well done Tebow, I wish that you played for the Cowboys.

i have no problem with tebow being christian, what i hate is how every article about him is something with a title slanted about god. like the media wants to to only focus on his religion, they sort of want to portray that he thinks he will play good because of god or the hard leaning left media wants to build it all up about god so then they can say – oh look hes a fool god didnt help him.

like should every title about some person whos doesnt believe in god read – heathen does well despite ignoring god – go heathen go -denying god and doing great- why i dont look up when i score.

what bothers me is i have to be stuck here with a mass of humanity that is foolish. this world is gonna rip itself apart and there is nothing anyone can do about it. bummer that it has to happen but on the same hand it makes me happy because everyone is gonna get what they deserve.

oh and remember do not support democracy that is mob rule support a republic that is what our government is. when these fools talk about spreading democracy they want mob rule, they want a uneducated fools vote to be worth the same as a wise mans. I hope you are not stupid enough to think that is a good idea. read platos republic for a start, read about liberty and what he says it does to people then look at the world we live in today thousands of years after it was written. then you will see how much of those concepts about government remain true and very insightful.

Funny how they never had that reaction to Staubach, Polamalu or any of the many other men of faith who have played pro football. What is it about Tebow that makes them so crazy?

And he is right, when you get knocked down, get up again. HE does have something a lot of people don’t have. HE has total faith in GOD. His life belongs to GOD and it’s a beautiful thing to witness. Is that a football player or WHAT??? I am noticing some fine young men of great talent and conviction out there now…not conviction like in jail either….those guys had better figure out…that will get them NO WHERE. But, per your little world, you will pick on Tebow because he is a GOD LOVING, HARD WORKING, professional. Typical for your type to go after someone like this.

Win or lose, succeed or fail, Mr. Tebow is a solid human being who are children can actually look up do.

When Tebow pulls out such a victory the media refers to it as a miracle; when Michael Vick pulls out such a victory (which is rare) the media refers to it as a display of his outstanding talents.
Unfortunate that the media can not comprehend the fact that Tebow is an outstanding talent and, combine that with his faith, “miracles” such as we saw today can happen.

      @KATHLEEN3

You are indeed correct. The sports pundits touted the skills of Vince Young and Jamarcus Russel as the quarterbacks that would dominate the NFL. I thought they were horrbile selections at the time because of their mechanics AND inability to read coverage. Tebow does have some of the same problems, but he has intangibles the other two did not have (not to mention he is a better athlete overall) . If he wasn’t white all we would hear about is his athleticism and his ability to win games. I was smitten when they selected him in the first round because I think he will do fine under the tutelage of the right coach. Whether or not Fox is the right coach remains to be seen.

I am a lifelong Dolphin fan (yes, I know. go ahead and get your laughs out), but when I saw the score pop up today, all I could do was smile. It’s nice to get a win first time out of the gate, even if it was a crappy team, it’ll give him confidence to go into the next one. I get real tired that a huge portion of the sports world bashes on him and all the snide comments. I think when some people see him and he’s not ashamed to speak about his love for Christ, it bothers them so much because it reminds them of their own personal lives, when they are alone with their own thoughts, how truly lost, lonely and sad they really are. And there he is with that happiness that shines from within. It eats at them. Before the games today, those dopes act like they’re analyzing, but they were contentious and wanted him to fail for the most part. Funny thing is, he doesn’t normally bring up his faith, THEY do and he’s happy to respond.
