UK Home Secretary: Universities Are Complacent Over Muslim Radicals on Campus

A prominent UK official has come out and blasted that country’s universities, accusing them of “complacency” when it comes to addressing Islamic radicals on college campuses.

British Home Secretary Theresa May, who oversees things like immigration and crime, came out with some strong comments after the head Universities UK, which represents vice-chancellors, said there was no evidence that extremist speakers encouraged violence.

“I think for too long there’s been complacency around universities,” May said, according to the London Telegraph. “I don’t think they have been sufficiently willing to recognise what can be happening on their campuses and the radicalisation that can take place. I think there is more that universities can do.”

She added that universities must “send very clear messages” and “ask themselves some questions about what happens on their campuses.”

She also had some harsh criticism for the Federation of Student Islamic Societies — a Muslims student advocacy group — for not coming out stronger against extremism.

“They need to be prepared to stand up and say that organisations that are extreme or support extremism or have extremist speakers should not be part of their grouping,” she said.

May’s comments come as the British government is set to release a report on Thursday saying universities have become a hot bed for Islamic extremism.

According to the report, reviewed by the Christian Post, “more than 30% of people convicted for Al Qaida-associated terrorist offences in the U.K… are known to have attended university or a higher education institution.”

The Post adds that “the report warns that extremist groups are specifically targeting universities that have a higher than average number of Muslim students, in the hope of converting them to their more extreme interpretation of their faith.”

    I’ve been out of college for 25+ years and the radical Nation of Islam leader Farrakahn was preaching his tirades on the sidewalks of campuses in America’s heartland back then. This has been a long time coming.

    To everyone,
    Please understand this is not about religion, it is about people. We will naturally gravitate toward what is in our heart. No one needs a Bible or a Koran to tell the difference between right and wrong. Religion is a gathering place for who you are inside.
    I am a Christian because it is who I am. Others are Muslims because it is who they are. We chose our path because it is what is inside of us, not an external force. God and Alla are words, right and wrong come from us. If Christianity told me to kill all non believers I would leave Christ because I know it is wrong. Yet Islam tells them to do just that, inside of them they think it is right.
    That is the difference between people, not religion. Some of us understand the difference between right and wrong, and some do not. Some embrace evil and enjoy it. Religion is simply an excuse to be who you are, good or evil.
    We will stand tall when we die for our actions here, for everything and who we are. God will not make allowances for your upbringing or religion, he will see your heart. Right and wrong, that is the final point, right and wrong. We do not a book to tell us that, it is inside of everyone. We must make the choice which path to embrace.

    How about modern day principles, ethics and morals as the guiding principles of life? Golden rule. Treat others well. Don‘t get into private people’s business. If two consenting adults want to do something which does not harm anyone else, let them.

    It is a sign of the times. Most people don’t go to church anymore, the place where we learn the difference between right and wrong, allah and God. Many churches have watered down and dumbed down the message and become PC in the process, so as to ‘appeal’ to a more diverse public (recall that the road to salvation is narrow, while the road to distruction is broad). Of those of us who still attend church, many of us are ‘too busy’ to read the Holy Bible ourselves, relying on the righteousness of the pastor or teacher for our direction (a pity for those who live Chicago). These people are and will remain blind to what is happening in the world. The end will be upon them before they even realize they have a problem.

      It might be better if we didn’t teach “right and wrong” in religious texts where it says murder is right in some cases, stoning is good in many cases, etc…

      Modern day principals are what got us into this problem. In reading your post I feel you have no grasp of what you are saying. You have the right idea but lacking the “right and wrong” issue.
      I would never speak a bad word to someone that dose not believe how I do, yet Islam says they should put me to the death.
      Yet in a home invasion I would kill without hesitation anyone visiting harm upon my family without prejudice. That is the difference between right and wrong. Think about what you sayin your broad generalizations.

    So many good comments here, it’s hard to top what you all have said already. It is about time though that the British of the tribe of Ephraim finally realize that there is an enemy among them, and they better start paying closer attention. Just as the radical progressives have done here in American universities for many years, the radical muslims are trying to imitate, because they saw the affects and the results that the radical progressives were able to bring about. They are targeting impressionable young people who have a tendency to rebel against parental authority when they hit the college campuses. When on their own they can be easily swayed, even by the most evil among us. I think colleges and universities in both Britan and the United States should weed out the radical progressive and radical muslim professors, and clean up their act by replacing them with those that have ideologies that closer resemble the ideologies of the parents sending their kids to these places of higher learning. It’s time to make great reforms in every area of learning, including high schools too. It’s also time to dispense with the policital correctness that we have gone way overboard on and instead apply common sense, and it’s also time to EXPEL these radicals and send them back to where they came from. They are here for no good purpose…so kick them out of our country, along with all the illegal immigrant/INVADERS from Mexico and other lands.

    Where are the Jews? Why do young Jews agree with much of this vile lying. In the concentration camps there were Jews (and others) who worked for the Nazis. OberKapos Juden. They herded their fellow Jews into the shower, listened to thier fellow Jews screaming to get out as the Z-Klon B was pour into the showers, they drug out the bodies, transported them to the ovens. Some young Jews sang for obuma as they did in the camps. Do Jews ever learn??     They’re already here under the guise of the Muslim Student Association or society/union on most college campuses. Most of these “associations” are supported by the Muslim Brotherhood or CAIR. They may do their own fundraising, but lets face it, these larger organizations like the fact that they are all over the U.S. I’m not saying all Muslim students are radicals, but they have to understand that the root of their beliefs places everyone as a follower or an infidel. There is no middle ground. The UK has let it go too far and now they are inundated with extremism on their campus that has been fostered for 30 years. Its no different here. These groups form and try to “illuminate and share” so we non-Muslims can be more tolerant and understanding of their religion and “culture”. Soon, the Nation of Islam is on the campuses and recruiting openly with the college’s permission. Weird, how the Marine recruiters have a hard time recruiting on campuses across the country, but the Nation of Islam is welcomed with open arms. The UK dug its own hole with this problem, and learned too late that “multiculturalism” is a failure.

      Kitsune, you’re right, but they are welcomed onto campuses moreso than military recruiters. The Nation of Islam is always ushered into the MSA meetings and presentations/speeches given on college campus I work at. Nation of Islam is not thought of as more dangerous than a jihadist and of course no jihadist would accept them, but they’re no less scary when they speak and even if the word “Jew” is never mentioned, all one with an ounce of common sense needs to do is listen for what is not said. Free speech is a right, but to think my grandfather fought in WWII against Hitler for these guys to enjoy it with their hatred of Jews and non-muslims is like a dagger through the heart.

    The Muslims are certainly taking full advantage of the PC weakened world. It is just what they wanted. The problem will be that when Britian and the US finally wake up, it will be too late and the fight at that point will have to be epic; more epic than WW II. When you see a young boy (age 10 – 14) just try to imagine the fight they will have in front of them. Try to imagine how many of them will die because we are too afraid to stand up NOW and be strong!!!!

    The UK is history already – once the real fight starts – they will burn and from the ashes they jsut might be able to survive – but they will no longer be a even a glimmer of a player on the World stage – same for France, Italy, Spain, etc. Maybe Germany – they seem to be waking up – but all the Western European countries have pitifal armies – and Russia will back the muslims to keep them out of Russia and give them Western Europe – why not – they’ll still need Russian natural gas! So Western Europe is lost – because not a one is going to react in time and throw the mulsims out – which means today, right now – and enforce it with zeal. Nope – not going to happen. So who cares about UK and the rest – the US has to begin enforcing it’s borders, stopping the mexican illegals; face the fact that Mexicao is corrupt – buried in the rug trade and it’s money – same for Columbia, Honduras, etc; shutting down any and all foreign funded schools (S Arabia mandrassas) and kick the UN out.

      I speak about this frequently. At the same time, it occurs to me, when we start trying to screen out muslim radicals, how do we stop our government from choosing other people and calling them ‘radicals’, just as the socialists (libs, progs, dems, whatever euphemism they choose to hide behind today) already call Christians ‘radicals’?
      Dangerous waters and a slippery slope.
      How do we keep our country safe when we embrace everything anybody wants to call a religion?
      Look at the teen girls infatuation with witchcraft and its evolvement into ‘wicca’. Which the govt now accepts as a “religion”. (I saw a news story stating ‘wicca’ is now the largest, non-Christian ‘religion’ in the U.S. Military. What the??)

      ‘Scuse me, but… true religions do not teach ‘convert or murder’.

      We need to set some standards as to what we consider a “religion”, beyond – a bunch of people follow it.
      What if a new ‘religion’ pops up and requires human sacrifices? Do we accept that? If it requires stealing the posessions of non-believers? This is a ‘religion’ that teaches to MURDER people who will not accept it.

The deans running these monsters, these haters of America knew the professors they were vetting and the propaganda that went forth from those classrooms. They had their thumb on the pulse of their Universities all the time. I speak mostly of the American Universities here from WWII on when after the war it was ‘game on’ with the commies spreading their propaganda like wildfire. They are tenacious, now it’s the ********!       Universities that house these professors need to be held accoutable for acts against the Republic and also groups that support muslim anything need to be shut down! Sorry for my staunch stand against muslims here, I know I come off as racist, bigotted against muslims, but I am not convinced that we have a people living among us that want to be American, live the American way, we have a people here that want to remain islamic, live under shariah, a people that follow a pedophile, and follow the koran which states kill the infidel (that’s us!).

      ISLAM is EXTREMISM. It COMMANDS the muslim to kill, enslave, or subjugate the nonbeliever. No ifs, no ands, no buts. There is no such thing as a moderate muslim. Only muslims either following their commandments or not. If we are to survive, we must realize that a holy war has been waging against us a treat it like WWII. Either they win or we do, not living with the enemy playing like everything is kind of ok.

      These students, both here and in the UK, have to apply just like everyone else. Why admit them if you know there is a problem (speaking of UK, it would be Islamaphobic not to admit them here where we welcome illegal aliens and terrorists into our country)? A flood gate has been opened and now it will be hard to close again.
