UK Official: Iran Testing Ballistic Missiles

LONDON (AP) — Britain’s foreign secretary says Iran has conducted covert tests of ballistic missiles alongside a 10-day program of public military maneuvers.
William Hague told the House of Commons on Wednesday that there had been secret experiments with missiles and rocket launchers.
Iran is conducting 10 days of war games in an apparent show of strength to the West and on Tuesday fired 14 missiles in public tests.
Britain believes Tehran has conducted at least three secret tests of medium-range ballistic missiles since October.
Iran and the West remain in dispute over its nuclear program. The U.S. and its allies insist it is aimed at developing atomic weapons – a charge Iran rejects.

Posted on June 29, 2011 at 10:45amSomeone has told the republicans that they do not want a repeat of history over there in Afghanistan-Iraq and it could be a very bad lie. (Something about USA was there last time and did not stay- so the 911 event happened)
The difference in the history will be turmoil here in the USA, and in Europe at the same time. That will leave the troops on the ground to missile attack from Iran. The history is not the same.
If the republicans help cause the troops to stay there and Iran does launch missiles at the US bases with many deaths, the democrats can say “we told you so and we wanted to pull the troops out because of this very thing”. Thus setting themselves up for a good election in 2012.
I am sick of being the world’s police when all they want to do is kill anyone in the west.
Pull the troops away from Afghanistan-Iraq or at least give them anti-ballastic weapons systems.
I do not trust Obama to “have the back” of the military, I do trust Obama to stab the military in the back.

To sit back and think that it is just “talk” and they are not serious is delusional and self destructive. To believe that we have the means to shoot down 100% of all ballistic missiles fired at us is naive. We don’t. We have not deployed such a system to guard the entire Untied States especially if these missiles are fired from a ship off our shores. Then there is the possibility of a nuclear missile detonating high in the atmosphere over the Untied States. The emf from such a detonation would destroy all microchips in the country. The power grid would go down, all transportation would stop, all communications would go down. No food, no water, no sewage disposal, no FEMA, and no emergency relief, no hospitals, for years. Think of life in the mid 1800s but with no food, law enforcement, and not enough horses. In other words, millions would die. Be very worried about what Iran is doing. They are serious and they mean exactly what they are saying.

If you look at all of these separately it’s no big deal, but when you combine them together it becomes a big deal. Yes, we know that they have been testing missiles for years, but they didn’t have nuclear capabilities before….and with the close relationship they have with Russia, it makes you wonder what oher technology thay have acquired.

Posted on June 29, 2011 at 9:05amDesert Storm interceptors were ancient technology – those interceptors were never designed or meant to shoot down ballistic missiles they were meant to intercept aircraft. 20 years later the Patriot PAC III & other more advanced interceptors were actually designed w/ ballistic missiles in mind.
Since Desert Storm we’ve even designed & fielded systems to shoot down incoming rockets, artillery & mortars – it’s been in use in Iraq since 2006. .

Is it just me, or does anyone else suspect that the nutcase leader of Iran is now seeking ot up the ante in the Middle East region beyond bluff and bluster?
With all the military muscle being flexed recently by the Iranian armed forces – ships in the Med, and subs in the Red Sea, and now the missile demonstrations, something larger may be going on here, even if it is just in relation to internal politics of their nation.
Of course Mr Obama will never declare Iran to be anything else other than a ally of his, and will most liekly take up another round of golf before going to the world on another apology tour for the evils of the US protesting the ‘peaceful development of nuclear power’ by the Iranian people.

Why is there any confusion regarding this and why would anyone not think they feel a need for them. Consider how many US warships are off their coast and then consider what action we would take if the situation was reversed. It is not far fetched to think Iran would feel threatened by the west. A threat they, like most countries, would seek to minimize.

Any such attack on this country will help Obama instantly consolidate his power and impose Martial Law on us, so in Obama’s mind it would be counterproductive for Obama to stop Iran….so he will not stop them….believe it or not.
