‘Un-American Act’: Palin Slams Obama’s Contraceptive Mandate as Violating Constitutional Rights

On Tuesday — Valentine’s Day — former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin had a not-so-loving message for President Barack Obama. In an interview with FOX News’ Greta Van Susteren, Palin unleashed on the president’s contraceptive mandate, calling his actions against the Catholic Church “un-American.”
Palin uttered this term, which is bold to attach to any U.S. politician — especially a president — two times during her interview with Van Susteren. The former vice-presidential candidate was clear that she sees Obama’s stance on the mandate as morally, Constitutionally and politically unsound.
“Very poor politics that they would choose such a battle,” Palin said. “One — to pick a fight with faith-filled Americans. You know, we will fight…to the death for our freedom of religion and for the rights that are protected by our United States Constitution.”
Following these remarks, she unleashed her “un-American” label not once, but twice:
“This is an un-American act of our president. Anything that would so blatantly violate an amendment within the United States Constitution is un-American and Barack Obama needs to re-think what he has just done to the people of America because we’re rising up on this one. We‘re not going to back off and we’re not going to say ‘Okay, it is alright that such a violation of conscience — such a violation of those things that our founders fought and died for — we’re just going to sit back and let it happen to us.’ Not this time.”

That opinion, which the George W. Bush administration did nothing to alter or withdraw when it took office the next month, is still in effect today—and because it relies on Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, it applies to all employers with 15 or more employees. Employers that don‘t offer prescription coverage or don’t offer insurance at all are exempt, because they treat men and women equally—but under the EEOC’s interpretation of the law, you can’t offer other preventative care coverage without offering birth control coverage, too.

• Communicate American values
• Inspire the people
• Make tough decisions to tackle American issues
• Be acceptable to the other side (at least to an extent)
If the most conservative candidate cannot do that, then we do the Nation a disservice. We chose Obama because he spoke like a Greek god, we could hang out with him anyday, he was someone we could drink a glass of beer with He looked charming, he talked a good talk about the issues, oh and it was time for someone of his pigmentation type. Where has that gotten us so far?
Somehow we have to end the vicious circle of from one extreme position of ideology to the other. America is looking for a leader by birth and at heart, not a leader by default or inheritance.
It seems that the at the depth of the Contraceptive conspiracy is not only an attempt to change the top tier of the GOP candidates, but to also change to topic of the debate and to sway by deceiving many voters, and to also rile up the passion of a base that sees the fight come close home

On the surface, it appears to be about “muscling” the religious institutions (and thereby the “followers”) into bowing to Obama and “his” governance…..

I think this is more about shaking the foundations…..
think about this a moment….
if you take a weak element of the congregation…
say the women who “disobey” the pope and take birth control pills, or whatever…..
and make them ponder the “choice”….
do I want my “free” stuff?…
can the pope tell me what I can do with my body?
Is it about the “church” or is this between me and God?
we all know that a lot of folks that “profess” to be religious?
they will choose to hold on to their present mindset…
what they are “comfortable doing –
they are the ones that will “migrate” around until they can find a “congregation” that is accepting and willing to “welcome them in”…
So what happens to the mainstream religions when “mildly-commited” folks are put in the position to make that kind of decision….
do this the “church’s way” and stand firm against the government
or run to that government… because you are already in their hands, because you choose to disobey your religion’s teaching(s)
and do what YOU want….
Yes, i believe this is all about injecting the “virus” of discontent into the mainstream religions…

I know because I have to live through a DEATH PANEL when my daughter 23 months old got a rare type of leukemia in Chicago no less. I was a resident at the Univ of ILL at chicago, I taught dental students as well. I paid HMO premiums every paycheck as it was taken out automatically. When my daughter was on deaths door, (these drs said she would probably die with 12 hrs) they admitted they didn’t have the training, the facilities, or the knowledge to treat this kind of cancer as they had only even seen one case before. That person died by the way. We insisted on them sending her to a childrens hospital and one that could treat her, the treating dr agreed and wrote a letter verifying such. Within 8 hrs of the letter being given to us, the the “death panel” said NO and over rode the treating doctors, both of them. We fought the decision with a grievance committee. State ins comm said they had NO jusridiction because it was an HMO. 3 members (unbiased) FOR the hospital and 3 random members. Needed a majority. The then student body pres of the Univ ended up voting against us. He gave us a 5 page detailed letter immediately after the decision, outlining the number and types of threats directed at him if he voted for us. We lost, the death panel won.
