UN Dignitaries Go All Out in NYC: Can You Guess Which President Spent $16K Per Night For Hotel?

UN Dignitaries Go All Out in NYC: Can You Guess Which President Spent $16K Per Night For Hotel?

Want to know what it is like staying in the presidential suite at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City? Ask Rwandan President Paul Kagame, who has spent his stay there for the United Nations General Assembly at a measly $16,000 a night according to the New York Post. A price 13.9 times more expensive than Rwanda’s average annual income for 2010 rated by the World Bank at only $1,150.

UN Dignitaries Go All Out in NYC: Can You Guess Which President Spent $16K Per Night For Hotel?

On the the 53rd floor, the luxurious two-bedroom suite presents panoramic views of Central Park and the City skyline according to the Mandarin website. The Post also reports on sources who saw Saudi leaders staying at The Plaza, and the UN General Assembly President Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser seen leaving suit-maker Domenico Vacca with Qatari Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who reportedly “dropped six figures.”

Dignitaries from several nations were seen eating at some of New York’s most posh restaurants, and the Post writes that Argentina President Cristina Fernandex de Kirchner went on a shoe shopping spree buying 20 pairs for $5,500 each.

It seems UN dignitaries and diplomats love to unload their fortunes and revenues on everything they can when staying in NYC and DC. Everything, except parking ticket fines.

POLITICO reported Wednesday morning that foreign diplomats owe over half a million dollars in unpaid parking and traffic tickets in Washington D.C. Of the 7,611 unpaid tickets tickets since 1970, Russia owes the most at $27,200, and the Vatican has obeyed most of the rules aside from one $25 overdue ticket for an expired meter.

Any second thoughts on giving foreign aid?

Though their lavish expenditures disgust me because their citizens are so impoverished…I say we should get back what we can from these leeches of the world. Even if it’s just the hotel/restaraunt/shop that winds up with the money…soak them for every penny they have.

Heck, toss a twinkie on their pillow and charge them $500.00! Um, wait…for the goatflockers we need to cancel the twinkie and make it a bag of porkrinds.

SMARTGirl, you are right. We should get out. But we can’t. The amount the US spends (though unfair and infuriating) is worth the money to keep enemies close. There is value in forcing Abbas, Ahmajinedad, Putin, Castro, Chavez, Soros to travel to the US if even to provide a stage for them to trash a country that their citizens try so hard to visit. (I attended a Naturalization ceremony today for 1397 persons who were made US citizens this morning. They had no problem w/ the US.)

Think about it. What would it cost John Fleming to take his family to a nice hotel! But he’s cutting back because of the oppressive tax environment. He can’t even create jobs! And what can you do with the $400,000 you have have left after all the $200,000 in food is paid for? Like, nothing right?. No wonder he’s against all these programs that help the so called “poor.” If he’s only got $200,000 to feed his family, successful man that he is,so why should the poor, who we all know are driving fancy Cadillacs, wearing bling and gold earings (you know what I mean – wink) and living high, get any money at all?

$ 50 k a year would mean your poor in LA or NY for a family. Even Senator Schumer is catching onto that. For a liberal he is a fast learner. It all took him or 6 decades.

Does the Rep. send his kids to private schools. that could cost $10 k to $15k per kid.

The 2 facts of cost of living ion an are and private schools could account for a significant chunk of it.

JZS The Congressman was speaking of taking a salary from his company of $200,000. Anyone who has ever been selfemployed or a C corp or S corp would understand this. The $400,000 he referred to was money left after paying his employees, rent, utilities, insurance…that he could reinvest into his companies. I guess now making $200,000 a year means he should pay more in taxes to support low life freeloaders who refuse to work as hard as the rest of us.

It is terrible that Bush spent time on his own ranch. Living on and near the land. It was such a slap in the face to the “little people” to see such humbleness. It would have been much better for him to fly away to some lavish resort every other week and spend wads of money on clothes, caviar, golf, extra fine dining, etc. And don’t forget the ice cream and fries!
It would have been better if the Bush WH sounded more like this.
Michelle says: Hey, baby I want to go to Spain. Can I take all our friends so that they will know we’ve arrived. I can even introduce the kids to Spanish dignitaries and call it a business trip. I can go shopping and bring home even more expensive ugly clothes. Please Mister President! Can I go?
Barack says: Sure! You can have your hearts desire. I am who I am! I am President hear me roar.
Michelle says: Honey will you make sure the peeps have plenty of cake while I’m gone. The last thing we need is an uprising!
