‘Under God’ Conference Kicks Off: Faith Leaders Defend Chick-fil-A & Plead for Christian Political Involvement (Plus: Live Chat Tonight!)

This afternoon, “Under God: Indivisible” opened to a crowded audience at High Point Church in Arlington, Texas. Earlier today, TheBlaze told you about the event, which is being hosted by the Rev. James Robison. It‘s overarching goal is to empower America’s faith community, while also infusing religious values back into the nation’s fabric.

The ideas, perspective and theological constructs presented were plentiful. From lamentations over the spread of secular humanism to division and inaction in Washington, D.C., the speakers touted an array of messaging.

While the commentaries were divergent in topic, as a whole, they painted a picture of a nation whose religious liberty is in peril. But aside from addressing this inherent freedom, the speakers also took aim at the notion that America has separated itself from the Lord.

“Men’s imaginations will not save this nation — only God [will],” proclaimed Dr. Rick Scarborough of Vision America.

“Aren’t you sick and tired of the dissension that goes on in Washington?,” Robison asked.

And later, Ralph Reed, chairman of the Faith and Freedom Coalition pleaded with the audience to appeal to God to guarantee a prosperous future for the nation. Reed called the 2012 election “the most important election since 1980 and, perhaps, the most important election in this country since 1860.”

Reed also defended Chick-fil-A amid scandal over its pro-traditional marriage views, calling it “one of the finest companies in America.”

“God has a plan and a kingdom purpose that is bigger than any man or women…bigger than any politician…we need to pray that God’s purpose is fulfilled,” he said.

    Chick-fil-A Versus the Loonie Left

    What is it about free speech that the Left doesn’t get?

    Do they have a problem about our First Amendment rights to freedom of speech because they take issue with those fundamental freedoms or do they only have selective objections to what people say and believe?

    They certainly have no problem with fellow Leftists such as those in the Occupy movement spouting anti-Semitic, anti-capitalism, anti-Americanism, anti-civilized society sentiments but when it comes to expressions of Christian conservative beliefs in normality they always seem to get their panties in a wad.

    The latest target of Leftist venom is Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy, son of the fast-chicken-food company’s founder, S. Truett Cathy.

    The Leftist homosexual lobby is incensed with Cathy due to his “support of the traditional family” and his disagreement with President Barack Hussein Obama’s recent “evolution” on same-sex marriage.

    Cathy merely gave his opinion that, ”We are very much supportive of the family–the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that. . . we know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles.”

    All this has been done before, and done before, and done before to no effect. A sign of intelligence is knowing if you do the same as before, you get same results.

    Not long ago, James Robison asked in his blog, “Where are the prophets?” This too, has been asked before, and before, and before with no results? Why:

    The Evangelical Church will not accept a rebuking prophet, which is what it needs. So Evangelical Church does these same events (without a prophet) and gets the same bad results.

    A true prophet would tell the Evangelical Church it has massively blown its commission, which is to increase consciousness and awareness unto Christ-in-You indwelling.

    To do this, the EC needs to understand prosperity preaching begets greed, rapture: fear; & emergent shenanigans: laziness. Christ-in-You can’t come with greed, fear & laziness.

    Once those bad things are gone, what needs to come in? First, the massive correction delayed! First, Ancient Paths of Correction! Then Paul’s High Ways. Last: Christ-in-You.

    Now the Evangelical Church likes to ignore rebuking, correcting prophets.

    Webster: Prophet: One gifted with more than ordinary spiritual and moral insight; especially an inspired poet.

      Why are you linking the evangelical church with prosperity preachers? you can be a prosperity preacher and claim to be an evangelical church (not that that would be true or right), but you cannot be an evangelical church and preach the prosperity message.

      @In that day, remember that Jesus said many false prophets would go out from among the saints! The last time I checked,the last inspired ones from God were the Apostles after Jesus ascended to Heaven! There are no more, period! The “Book” is all the inspiration we need! The problem is that we don’t like what it says, because it doesn’t fit in to our lifestyles, so we put our own spin on it. In scholarly discourse, this is called Isogesis! Today every body is a prophet, or anointed of God! Who is right? The only source of truth is God’s Word, for those who believe, that is! Many have come along who claimed to be prophets! Does Harold Camping come to mind? We see what happens when men abandon God‘s Word for man’s understanding! No, we don’t need to find a prophet, we need to get back to basics, God‘s Word in it’s simplest form and not confuse it with man‘s idea’s of thinking he is smarter that God! Men worship what they see; but true faith is about the unseen! The only Prophet we need is Christ Jesus! The “Book” says to worship“ God in Spirit and Thuth”. The problem is, we want God to accept us on our terms, not His terms! Well, He is our King, Creator, and Soverign Lord, so He calls the shots! The“Book” says “a house divided cannot stand”, so until we unite with God’s Word, we will remain confused! In the end, we will be judged by the words in that “Book”!

    With Obama’s roots, it’s key to distinguish that America the Beautiful was “built” by WE the people under God through Christ. If, you are of non-faith roots it’s sound advice to remain respectful for America’s forefathers architecture of building a free and United States of America.       Christians Stop buying at Target, Home Depot, JC Penny’s, Amazon, and using Google.
      JC Penny’s led the way last year and stockholders are concerned about sales being down. Keep up the great work. Vote with your money. Vote for Chick and vote against the above. The CEO’s for the above companies will be thrown out. JC Penny is already concerned the decision to be pro homosexual is failing. The VP of marketing a pro **** says wait a few more months and sales will move back up. I say vote with your money. Where are the pastors in America in this fight? SILENT.
      It’s up to us. Those who truly love the Lord enough to speak out and vote with our money God has given us.

    Well, we are amazed there are no other comments. The chick-fil-a statement was well supported. How about the attacks on our religious freedoms. We guess those were addressed, as well.
